Thanks! Just making sure I didn't need to sign DH up also.
Yes don't sign your DH up otherwise you will get duplicate emails like I do. I get an email about once every two weeks. unfortunately it doesn't send the info every day or for all my mail.

Dear Chase Travel Portal, why can't I book this room for 2 adults and 2 kids?! Ugh.

3rjvQWZl.png

The King room is about 8600 points. Both rooms are 25K Marriott points. Marriott says the king has a pull out and we'll be using an air mattress anyway. I could always take 2. Would you just book it for 2 adults and 1 kid? It's for softball tournament, the hotel is going to be overrun by kids anyway.

I have to hold off until we know this hotel is where we're staying since these are all non-refundable, what's up with that?! Three price points ($129, $139, $149) and all look exactly the same.
Probably because its showing guest max at 3 guests. I would call them and see if you can book it or book it with 2 adults and call to add the two kids

Just closed my Citi AA biz. When I called in to cancel, she offered me 1000 miles for the next 16 billing cycles if I spent $1000 in each billing cycle. Not enough to keep me, obviously, but just thought I'd throw that out there that maybe wants to keep that card and put a lot of spend on it for some reason.

Now to sign the dog... I mean, my son... up for an AA account and hope the mailers start coming in. Good thing his name is Russell.

Instant approval for CIC! Not sure why but I get so nervous when doing these apps!

Good luck on your app @SouthFayetteFan!
Congrats! I guess Chase likes to send us pending on these for some reason...lol. We're still at 30 days as of about 5 min ago when I called the auto-status for the 5th time today, LOL.

Mini WDW Trip Report:
We had an awesome trip despite some crummy weather. I'll give a quick rundown of our days for those interested...

We did 4 nights at Yacht Club and 3 nights at Contemporary (theme park view)

Saturday 1/26: (High = 60 degrees // Cloudy)
  • Flight in was uneventful and on time (good for my wife!)
  • Arriving at noon on a Saturday and DME was not exactly fun...it was busy and took longer than we were used to, but we were patient
  • Room assignment was awesome with a great balcony view of the Boardwalk and could see the Eiffel Tower over in EPCOT.
  • Went to EPCOT, saw Voices of Liberty and American Adventure for the first time ever (crazy I know considering how many times we've been there) and both were very enjoyable!
  • Dinner at Garden Grill was amazing (first time for dinner)! We have had breakfast there twice and enjoyed it so much. Dinner was equally awesome, that place may be our favorite restaurant at Disney.
Sunday 1/27: (High = 55 degrees // RAIN)
  • Rain...Rain...and more Rain. There was a steady downpour that started around 6am Sunday and didn't stop until 4am Monday... Luckily we had rain boots for the girls and wife and rain coats and umbrellas and were prepared for it.
  • We hit DHS and had a great day executing a plan with the least amount of walking possible - we went from attraction to attraction and minimized our rain exposure. It was a great day despite the poor weather but we did miss SW fireworks because of it :(
  • Ate a Sci-Fi, food was good but not one of our fave restaurants. Glad we experienced it once now though.
  • Got to ride Slinky with a 5 minute wait in the evening since the park was basically emptied out by 5pm.
Monday 1/28: (High = 60 degrees // Cloudy)
  • Another great EPCOT day, plan was on point!
  • Spectaculab apparently closed a week or two before we arrived so that was a bummer. (At least Colortopia was still there)
  • We did see the China and France films for the first time
  • Ate at Tutto Italia, food was good but restaurant was too stuffy and authentic for us, lol
  • Watched IllumiNations - we're not big fans of that show, but we enjoyed seeing it one last time
Tuesday 1/29: (High = 68 degrees // Sunny!)
  • This was our only truly sunny day of the trip (which is pretty sad...)
  • We hit DHS again, had a great day and hit the outdoor stuff we missed on the rainy day
  • I tried to do SDD first thing and then execute our plan and that was a mistake - should've settled on one SDD ride, but oh well. It set us behind for the day and made for longer lines for much of the morning (slightly frustrating). The walk to SDD was also very stressful and I try to avoid those situations too.
  • Watched Fantasmic as planned (vs. SW fireworks) as we didn't bring any blankets or towels to sit on while we saved a spot and the benches at Fantasmic sounded better than the concrete by the Chinese theater.
  • Jedi training was fun as usual but we had a bad spot so I could barely get photos of our girls based on how they positioned them
  • My younger daughter rode ToT for the first time and LOVED it, we rode it a second time then! (My older daughter and wife won't ride it, so it's nice to finally have a buddy for that ride)
Wednesday 1/30: (High = 55 degrees // Cloudy)
  • Handed off our luggage at Bell services to transfer to Contemporary
  • Super cold day...we bundled up for it and were prepared but really would've preferred 10 degrees warmer!
  • Had a good day at MK, were there well before open to enjoy a quiet Main St.
  • Hit Frontierland/Adventureland first and enjoyed a much calmer morning than DHS the day prior
  • Ate at Crystal Palace for a LATE breakfast, food and characters were AWESOME
  • Watched the parade as we haven't done that for a few trips
  • Took an afternoon break to settle into resort, got a 10th floor room with a GREAT view of MK. We were very pleased to lay in bed and see the castle!
  • Headed back for evening EMH and experienced a ton of attractions between 7pm and 10pm - it was VERY cold by the end of the night though (low 40s)
Thursday 1/31: (High = 65 degrees // Mostly Cloudy)
  • Another cloudy day but at least the temp was a little better
  • Hit AK this day, and got a late start. NOT a good move...Bus lines were backed up and crazy, park entry lines backed up and crazy, Navi wait was 20 minutes by the time we got there vs. the 5 min I was hoping for...
  • Saw the UP! bird show for the first time, it was ok. My older daughter rode Primeval Whirl for first time and enjoyed that.
  • We made the best of things and still executed the plan and saw everything by 6pm and headed back to the room
  • Skipped Rivers of Light based on all my recommendations from friends here, that was a good call!
  • Watched HEA from our balcony (awesome!) and got to bed early (huge!)
Friday 2/1: (High = 75 degrees // Partly Sunny)
  • Last full day
  • Executed a great plan at MK in the morning, definitely thanks to an awesome night's sleep!
  • Took an afternoon break to pack and nap
  • Rode monorail to Poly for dinner, hit their QS place but just wanted a change of scenery (and had a dole whip :))
  • Headed back to park recharged for HEA, got a GREAT spot right behind a planter railing where our girls could see just standing on their own! Waited 2 hours for the show. Brought tears to my eyes just reflecting on our awesome trip!
  • Hit a couple of rides after the show and then headed back for bed
Saturday 2/2: (High = 75 degrees // Partly Sunny)
  • Packed up and checked bags for airport and for day with bell services
  • Rode Peter Pan first day it was open from refurb
  • Hit our 3 FPs and out final day tradition of lunch at the Plaza
  • Otherwise just hit anytime stuff: CoP, Tiki Room, Country Bear, Friendship Faire show, TTA
  • The airport suicide issue did put a damper and stress on the day, but overall we were super blessed there
SUMMARY
  • A great trip! Made the best of things despite the weather, could've used more SUN though
  • Loved using a written plan, made adjustments each night - this limited our walking SO much which was helpful!
  • Can't wait to go back :)
Glad you had a great trip despite the cooler weather and rain.

I've come across limitations like this in the past. Though it seems odd that a 2Qn room would only accomodate 3 guests. You could call the Marriott you're interested in directly and inquire about extra kids in the room, sometimes it has to do with hotel capacity limits (fire code or something like that). Or maybe they're fine with it, and just need to note it on your reservation, it doesn't hurt to ask.

You should be able to look for refundable hotel bookings with the travel portal if that's important to you - personally I book refundable whenever I can. Nonrefundable have always been the cheapest rates whenever I've looked, whether it's on hotels .com, marriott .com, etc. The old one bird in the hand adage I guess.

I just got off the phone with Marriott member services. The people on TUG were posting that they were receiving credit for their timeshare stays including their exchanges with Interval International. I had another 14 nights added and that pushed me over to Platinum. I'm not sure yet how I will make the best use of this but it is nice to have.

so used UR to book one night at the fairfield inn in downtown fort lauderdale. A month ago I went to book the room and it looked like it booked so went to bed. Next day noticed no points were taken out of my account and I didn't get a confirmation email. So I called and go figure now there's no non refundable rooms available. I went ahead and booked the refundable and just checked each day to see if one showed up. Well I'm glad it worked out because a week before our date it went lower by $10 or more each night. I just kept calling up to cancel and re book the room. ended up saving over $90 by being able to call and cancel. Now if I had booked the non refundable room I would have missed out on the savings. From now on I'll be booking refundable only so that I can get the room cheaper if it goes lower. I did notice the UR site wouldn't let me put DH on the reservation as primary but when I called they could. (DH has a better status with SPG so wanted it under his name).

I agree that the dismay among those "well-grounded" is just that - a lack of planning time. I do see some other over the top reactions out there that I just don't get...but that happens in any discussion board.

I was close to filing before we left for the trip and I hesitated. I also almost completed our IRA fundings and again, glad I hesitated. I would be much angrier (really only at myself) if I had already filed. But in the back of my head I have a rule to wait until at least until Mid-February for any straggler tax forms that I didn't see coming.

I don't know what to do. I have my HR Block appointment set for Saturday morning. I always file the second Saturday or Feb. Now I'm worried about odd, missing forms myself.

I know you can amend but that's a hassle.

Sounds like you had an awesome trip and delt with the weather well....

:tinker: Your application is approved soon

Still no sign of Amex or Chase 1099s in informed delivery for me either. Neither of us have filed yet but I'd like to go ahead and do it soon since I think we've received everything else we're waiting on.

Yes! That part, a 2Qn should sleep 4 just fine. I switch to 2A or 2A+1C and it disappears. I tend to respect capacity limits, but at a time like this when I know team mates will be there and everything will balance out I feel okay. Plus like I said, big softball tournament, the entire town is going to be over run and most hotels are already booked. And, I know from past experience when you call and book a from a block of rooms they tend to overlook the occupancy limits during these types of things. Pretty sure our team is staying at the Courtyard so I need to book here. I just can not book 25K/night for 3 nights knowing I can use far fewer UR. The king room is the same sq footage so I'm confident we'll be fine in that one. I'm pretty good at squeezing air mattresses into rooms. When you have 4 kids and 2 refuse to share beds that happens lol

Thanks for making me feel better about my lame retention offer on my Citi AA biz...that I accepted lol. 7500 AA miles for $1000 MSR in 90 days.

I gotta sign up my dogson Marley.

Happy card news this morning. DH called AMEX a second time to see if they'd give him a retention offer on his Plat and this time they did! 50K, no spend needed. I was so happy. Now I read it'll be taxed LOL. Still better than nothing.

Congrats! I would be super happy to get 50K for no spend (even taxed apparently).

It was not done by a dreamy guy - he was old and I figure he didn't do a good job. Never again! Grateful for my one and only.

LOL-if you say my anesthesiologist's name to any female surgeon of a certain age that trained where I did...seriously the toughest, most macho girl will dissolve into giggles and swoon (I know because one general surgeon who used to terrify me did exactly that! I wasn't actually too surprised about the outcome because Dr McDreamy warned me that the first placement doesn't always do what it's supposed to the first time. I was too busy looking to listen, though.:lovestruc
All would have been fine and DD might have a human sibling if Dr McD didn't go off shift about an hour into it...

That looks interesting. We have done ok so far, but it always seems like everyone else knows so many more ins and outs and tricks to do better. I need all the help I can get. ;)

Me, too. I'm always thinking I can do it better...
