noticed that too ... so to me does point to some technical difficulties - or maybe not flat out difficulties but just concerns that if they planned for an opening date for everything and were rushing this or might just run into some hiccups to get it working to their satisfaction then they either delay the opening of the land entirely or open the land without this ride anyway ... so this just gives them a bit more cushion rather than have to rush and stress about it
Yeah, that was more in response to the posters who were like "how do you know there's issues with the ride"..it was clear there were issues with the ride. That's not to be meant as a negative to Disney. It happens. Either they are having issues fully constructing it or something isn't working out quite right.

BUT I will say I appreciate them saying that in comparison to you know Rivers of Light where they gave an opening date and everything and well we all know how that ended up. Makes me think they are playing it safe by leaving it open ended--though yes I'm still disappointed it's not opening up as the same time of the land; I never thought I wouldn't be able to see BOTH attractions before my husband leaves his LA assignment with DLR's date of June (that had previously been announced) so it has me more concerned than before. Obviously I'll play cautiously optimistic about this.

Maybe there will be members of the first order "encouraging" you to move along...I mean it's immersive, right?
Ohhhh I like that. I could see that more with people who just got food, have obviously been done with it for a time and all.

Not sure you'd want to push the people out who are still purchasing drinks though lol.

I was a little relieved when the interviews with those who saw the cantina said it was pretty large. Obviously no matter how big you make it the demand will exceed the capacity.

some of the interviews I heard used words like "inimate" and "not a huge place" and "in scale" so not sure how huge

I know they said there is a U-shaped bar and then 9 alcoves around the side (one of which is used by the DJ, so really 8 for people) - so doesn't seem huge to me.

Guess will see .... I mean, this is definitely something that they had to know would be an issue so I'd think they *have* to have a plan

yeah, i guess there are "issues" and then there are "ISSUES" with the later being like "holy c*** our entire plan is not working what do we do!!!" and the former being "well, taking a bit longer than we thought but all the major stuff is working fine" ... this seems closer to the former than the later - but guess we shall see

Maybe. It will be right around the same time.

Not based on any info, just thinking about it, but I would think they would want Mickey's first ride, one they have developed new technology for and one they seem confident in given the rumors of recreating it in other parks, to have a pretty big debut and grand opening, and I can't see them doing that right as GE is opening. So I would think at least a few weeks in advance - give it its own then and get settled and then you have it as another priority for guests after GE opens

That’s if they have it ready before SWGE. They pushed up the SWGE opening. These are two separate things. From what I’ve heard they didn’t also push up the MMRR opening because of this.

very true, and if it isn't ready, it isn't ready - guess we shall see!

In terms of entrance into the land and entrance into DHS for those not wanting to go into the land. They have some experience with this
Star Wars Weekends had a dedicated merchandise line, especially long day one of the event with everyone wanting limited edition merchandise. They had a line (to the far right of the turnstyles) allowed that line to enter the park first, CM encouraged everyone to know their place in line, who was in front who was behind, and they walked the line slowly to the merchandise place (back then it was either by Backlot Tour or behind RnRC) the rest of the crowds just waited in the regular queues
For Pandora same scenario on day one. They had a line for merchandise that they moved first into the store, while people wanting to go into Pandora were told to stay to the left (plus there were CM and ropes)
So the could do something like this. I know from talking to friends we are planning on arriving at the gates of DHS around midnight to not be shut out of the land itself.
For Pandora they opened the land around 6:30am, I know I was there at 5:30am.

You arrived at AK at 5:30? Where did this place you in the crowds?

I was thinking 2 or 3 am, but at that point, midnight is just about the same.

Did you stay all day for Pandora? I've never been able to do an opening, so I am trying to make a game plan.

I went in with the first group, I had actually already done both rides multiple times through CM previews and AP previews and I was working (live streaming for a fb page) I did stay all day inside the land when I saw reports of lines to get into the land, again I was working and needed to get a live stream of Pandora at night. Needless to say I became very familiar with the land very fast :)

Thanks. It's going to be one long day. And awesome!

How did people do with line holders? For instance, if I got to the park EARLY (like during the night), and DH brought the kids at a more reasonable time, around 5am, would we be evil eyed all the way?
