So my trip without the kids to WDW in 2 weeks changed again. Now after the race we are going to drive to Vero Beach and use some of our DVC points for one night in a studio there. We have AP’s so no big desire to see stuff in the parks and the reports of the spring break crowds is a little scary.

Any suggestions for Vero Beach? Either the DVC resort or town itself?

I don't really have any suggestions but just wanted to say we went to VB last summer for two nights at the end of our WDW trip and loved it! It was so great just to relax. We went to the beach and pool all day and just played. We had intentions of going into the town to eat but just ended up getting food from the marketplace. We had the pizza for lunch and thought it was pretty good and a good value. They do have dole whips (yum!) there if that interests you. The drive to the resort felt a little shady but once we got there we had a blast. There is a dedicated VB thread on the DVC forums if you want to check that for any questions. Have fun!

:grouphug:

I’m so sorry to read this.

Can you give us some background info?

Which Amex cards do you have open? When were they opened? Have you closed any Amex cards, and if so, when? Any cards closed in less than a year? How long have you been an Amex customer? What has your spend been like on your Amex cards? Do you put spend on each card every month? Any noticeable drop off in spend on the cards?

Delta Plat Biz opened 11/2017 and SPG Biz opened 03/2018. Delta Plat Pers opened 06/2017 and closed 08/2018. I think I had one other Amex card opened and closed many years ago but nothing shows up on my reports. It would not have been a Biz card. Spend was the required spend for the bonus and then spend related to Amex offers. I have been paying more attention to spending on both cards rencently. I guess it hasn't been enough yet.

Looking forward to Lakeshore...friends who own a crazy amount of Marriott timeshare points..they are Chairman’s level which they said is the highest...but means nothing to me...lol...said it’s their favorite Orlando Marriott timeshare

How did you like Grand Vista..we had it booked for our last visit to see our son...but Royal Palms opened up so booked that since it was closer to Disney

Grande Vista is fine it just isn’t Lakeshore. My DGD likes the kids plays areas a little better at Grande Vista. The drive really isn’t that bad and once you get in the car it really doesn’t matter if you are driving for 7 min or 15.

Wow. I had a feeling it was a scam, but was hoping it was just a misunderstanding. Good for you for following up with Hilton. I don't remember which hotel this is - can you refresh my memory please?

It's the Doubletree by Hilton in Madrid. They threatened to cancel my reservation (that is non-refundable) if I don't pay (again) by the secure link. I have no clue how they are going to cancel a reservation that I've already paid for. I just can't process how the scammers got into Hilton's website. It shouldn't be possible. One other red flag is they asked for my phone number for a "manager" to call me, but I put my cell number on the reservation (so if they had the reservation they would have my phone number). But how would they have all the other information and not my phone number. Doesn't make sense. And no way was I giving them my phone number -- just not happening.

I’m sorry. Does that say Amex spent almost TWO MILLION advertising on TPG last quarter???

Interesting conspiracy theory from r/churning:

"A particularly interesting detail in that article is the very large uptick in Q4 ad revenue, mostly from Amex and Chase (it had been somewhat level before and then doubled out of nowhere). The only new products both of these banks have are the Marriott cards. This essentially confirms TPG as a shill for Marriott Bonvoy despite his relentless denials of any financial relationship with them."

Please don't try to do this. When we advise reducing credit lines, it's to improve your odds of automatic approval for more Chase cards, not to avoid an annual fee.
Don't worry, LOL, I had never even heard of it before. It just caught my eye when SouthFayetteFan posted that comment. Ya know that "Inquiring minds want to know." I had only ever heard of lowering CL for auto approval purposes.

This one is definitely more on the fringe and only applies to the super high AF cards in the first year. I'd suggest you read up on this one on your own and determine how to proceed. It's not a loophole that we as a group will advocate for or consult on. On the other hand, I also have never seen any negative consequences to those doing so.
Okay, now I am even more curious. LOL.

Wow. I was wondering if it was someone at the hotel since they had all of your info, but I guess they don't have it all. Scary stuff.

There's a TripAdvisor review mentioning the strange online payment arrangement, so maybe it's not a scam. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Yeah, but didn't @SouthFayetteFan have a terrible experience with a Marriott that claimed they didn't have his cell phone number so they canceled his room even though it was on his reservation?
That was some glitch with online check-in on the app - now I’m having flashbacks to my first Bonvoyed experience...

I'm back from my 38 1/2 hour trip to California! It was not fun but it's done!

From a cc standpoint, went to Savemart and bought a $500 GOC gift card so that will be 2024 MRs, whoo hoo!

Stayed Friday night (ATC delay so was in IAH for 9 1/2 hours) at the Hyatt Regency SFO in Burlingame, CA. We had a club level room and the breakfast was nice-scrambled eggs and pastries, fruits, breads, etc. The shuttle was efficient and the room was functional (although no bath tub, boo). Hyatts are pepsi product company so that was the biggest negative I can think of. Unfortunately I was there all of 10 hours so I can't comment on the pool or fitness area.

The Centurion Lounge in IAH was small but functional and I would definitely use it again. That said, if I'm ever at IAH I'll remember my priority pass since that allows entrance into the KLM and Air France lounges (which are next to each other) so I could compare and contrast them.

I was upgraded to a suite at the Courtyard Marriott in Stockton. It was large and while no frills, did its job admirably (plus diet dr pepper in the vending maching AND market) so I was appropriately caffeinated! We weren't there very long (17 hours) so I didn't try out the gym or pool, sorry.

The Skyclub at SFO is small but nice-adequate outlets and they had both hard boiled eggs and scrambled eggs, plus shredded cheese, picante sauce and tortillas so I had a good breakfast burrito while waiting for my flight. They switched over from breakfast to lunch as I was leaving around 10:45 so no insight on lunch offerings.

ETA I didn't check out the Centurion Lounge since it's in a different terminal-Delta leaves from Term 1. Maybe next time!

I flew United out and Delta back and Delta's planes were cleaner and their movie selection was larger but for the most part, the FAs were nice on both-more perfunctory on Delta, surprisingly, but I think my FA on UA was drunk; she forgot my order (complicated diet coke) twice before finally coming up with it prior to the flight. I think if I were to fly UA again, I'd stick with biz/first whereas I don't love Comfort Plus on Delta it's still "good enough" which is good since skypesoes really aren't worth a darn.

Anyway, glad to be home in the relatively inexpensive Emerald Coast...happily DH had a bit of sticker shock and announced "no way are we moving back here." I knew that anyway but happy he came to his own independent conclusion! Since I don't work anymore and he's planning on going to part time next year, our little piece of (inexpensive) paradise is just fine!

Also I used my Delsey 19in international carry on spinner and it worked fairly well for 38 hours. I am just an overpacker I think but thanks to @mmmears for the emotional support as I tried it. I will NOT do carry on only for a trip to Europe but a less than 2 day trip is almost do-able.

I know, I was thinking DHs would be ok but upon looking I think it will be 4/12. I guess i dont understand grandfathering in new apps but not old customers :confused3 especially when we haven't paid the first AF. I was thinking of gambling keeping it for awhile and getting the night, and being ok cancelling mid year for $95, I'm not crazy about the increase

If you haven't paid your 2nd year AF yet, then you should still pay the $95 even if it renews after 3/28 as that's what's listed on your card agreement. For people outside of the 2nd year, folks on 3/27 get a present of another year of $95, folks renewing on 3/28 and after get the $125.

That's what's happening to new applicants who apply before 3/28 under the waived AF offer - waived for 2019, on renewal in 2020 pay $95, then by 3/28/2021 $125. Everyone is on the $125 fee by that date.

I figured out how to do the pickup for Grub Hub for the Rose Gold $10 off today, but is there a way to do that through UberEats on the Plat? I'm guessing no, since that's the whole reason Uber exists, but I think I read something about it here. Anyone know if it's possible, and if so, can you tell me how to do it please? $15 doesn't go far here when we factor in the delivery fee.
