Currently booking a flower and garden trip for Memorial Day weekend. This will be our last opportunity to use our annual passes. Fast pass window opens tomorrow. Securing our flights using points and gift cards. Pass holder rate at the Grand Floridian wasn’t too bad but holiday weekends are super expensive.
Did our fastpasses this morning and scored Slinky dog dash, flight of passage and seven dwarves mine train during Memorial Day weekend and only a three night stay. Hoping this is a sign that crowds will be manageable!

So I've done both the in airport option and the Hyatt Place. Both are fine options. The Hyatt Place is a 5 minute shuttle ride to the airport and FREE breakfast. Honestly, I would save the 4,000 points and book the Hyatt Place unless you are plush with Hyatt points/UR.
was it simple to get a shuttle back from hyatt place to airport ,say to catch an ME? that's our goal. And like I said, got both my older mom and a toddler in tow with gear (he uses a carseat on the plane)

ok I'm doing something similiar in June:cool1: I need a night at Hyatt first too, I booked the in airport option bc we have a toddler with a carseat to haul around, but it's 12k instead of 8k..... I'd LOVE to hear the pros/cons of both of these choices for a quick nights stay- (my thoughts were simpler=better with a toddler, and I wanted to hop on ME in the morning without a lot of hassle) ...and Im thinking (reading the transportation threads) I can book ME for the next morning without any fuss, right?

I love the Hyattt Regency at MCO...but I like to watch people in the terminal and wander around.

Pros- I think would be one fewer shuttle schlep of child/car seat/luggage-the Regency is so very convenient...get off the plane, get on the tram, check in. Sometimes the convenience is worth 4K extra, sometimes not. Also if it's not a Sunday you can have chic fil a:-)

Cons-more expensive, doesn't have free breakfast

I know which way I'd lean but only you know your energy level after traveling. I'm in the easier the better camp (lazy, lol).

We loved staying there too. We just ran to McDs and grabbed breakfast and brought it back to the room while others were getting ready. Still not free, but not too horrible. The convenience and the atmosphere are great!

We stayed at the MCO Hyatt a couple summers ago when members of our party were arriving from different airports and at different times. It just made more sense to gather everyone there and travel on ME together. We grabbed Starbucks breakfast before the bus ride :-) Depending on flights next March we might stay there again. Dd will be coming from IND and doesn't want to ride ME by herself, even though she's gone on ME a zillion times.

In terms of arrival at MCO, we had to go down to baggage claim, obtain our bags and call the hotel for the shuttle. It came very fast. We also had to meet them at the ground transportation door by a particular sign. We stayed at Hyatt Place three weeks ago!

We stayed at Hyatt MCO in airport last June, August and November and we simply had to walk to other end of airport take elevator up to our room. This was an extremely good deal before Hyatt devalued cash and points. I paid 6,000 points plus $75 for those stays and would do so again in a heartbeat.

However now that cash and points is not so great for the Hyatt MCO property, I'd lean towards the Hyatt Place for 8,000 points.

I'm hoping it goes smoothly for me, but I'm nervous with having 6 people to book for.
You need to book slinky first on the farthest day out. Then FOP next, then Mine Train. Has worked for me every time.
You'll be fine, especially for a September trip. Make sure you have MDE up on your phone and tablet at 6:55am and as soon as clock hits 7:00am keep refreshing. Use whichever is faster.

:offtopic: Anyone have advice for a road trip from San Francisco to Seattle? Thinking of doing a one-way car rental and driving to our cruise out of Seattle and then flying back (or vice versa). Looked at one-way car rental prices and while expensive, isn't horrifically so. Oddly, Seattle to SF area looks cheaper than the other way around.

DS wants to go to Confusion Hill (north of Mendocino) for the Gravity Falls connection. Want to see the Redwoods, Oregon Dunes, and maybe Crater Lake but seems a bit out of the way. There's a new Wyndham timeshare in Portland, so might want to stay there (we own and I'm a sucker for new), it would have a 3 night minimum though. Any recommendations for don't miss places or fun places for kids (they'll be 8 and 11 by then)? Or for good places to stay on points along the way or in Seattle (have Hilton, Bonvoy, and URs)?

The hotel is literally 5 minutes from airport and shuttle comes every 30 minutes. We left hotel at 7:30am and were on MDE by 7:45-7:50. It dropped us by the door and we walked over and got on the bus.

I’ve also had my MDE up on more than one device and get different options.

Yup, I had MDE going on my computer and my phone this morning. I found the phone app to be much faster. FOP is definitely priority for me since that is my favorite ride.

Fastpasses done. Got slinky, Flight of Passage and Mine train.

That's awesome!! My MDE is still not allowing me to book. Boo!

This is exactly what I do. We have been able to get SDD, FOP, and Mine Train every time!

Instant approval on Barclays AA Biz, I think I have a credit card addiction LOL.

:dogdance::cool1::banana:

I'm not sure meetings would help for that addiction. "Hi, my name is miztressuz, it's been 32.. um.. seconds since my last card approval... but hear me out..."
"Oh that's a good one, where's the link?!?!" as you hear phones beeping new notifications of instant approvals around the room. I think it'd just create a new level of enablement.
