Pressed Penny Machines still exist?

We noticed fewer and fewer pressed penny machines that were 2 quarters plus a penny during our last visit. We found more credit card based machines.

Do pressed penny machines still exist? I want to start saving our shiny pennies :).

Credit card based ?

We were there last month & my boys burned through a roll of quarters on the pressed penny machines...such a great souvenir!
I only remember seeing one cc machine, at ToT, but we did see many pressed quarter machines, those cost $1.25 I think. Still lots of penny machines though!

They are actually in the process of changing out the ones where you need 50 cents to press your own penny and replacing them with machines that take $1 bills and provide the pennies. I believe all the MK ones have been changed out, and they are working on Epcot machines. So, depending on when your next trip is, you may have no need for shiny pennies.

Hmmm, we found a bunch in May. Maybe they have changed since then.

They have been working on changing out the machines to ones that now cost a dollar. Some credit card machines are starting to appear. The cost is $5, but you get a few pressed pennies for that price. Still a nice little souvenir at a cheap price. We bought one of the penny holders (coin collector book) to keep them in. The books are for sale at various locations. A great souvenir that they never "grow out of" and inexpensive.

The presscoins website has a listing with pics of all the WDW coins available. Their news blog has info on their progress in updating the machines to $1 instead of 50 cents.

so for the $1 do i need dollar singles to carry around? or do those new machines take cc? wish you can just scan your magic bands!

I have quite a few from Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney Quest (and other places like Kennedy Space Center). Hopefully will be able to get at least 1 more at the old price

Not liking this. I don't want 'shiny' pennies. I want good, solid copper ones that don't smear into a barely recognizable blend.
And a dollar ?? Greedy bassets.... :sad1:
If you want shiny pennies, scrub up some pre-1982 real copper pennies, and use those.

They definitely are putting more credit card machines out, too, which are $1 for one or $5 for 8. Also, they have a couple that are more than 8. There is one I believe in Epcot's China that has the 12 animal signs.

We were there a couple weeks ago and collected pressed pennies only from the 51 cent ones. Still got a handful from each park. Generally, we saw maybe half credit/dollar ones and half 51 cent ones. In the parks, we found if we found one kind, another would be next to it or just around the corner.

Especially for kids, there's something about putting your regular penny in and getting it back pressed. It's not the same if you only see the 'after' and aren't more of a direct participant in the process..

Disney seem to be forgetting 'actual guest experience' in so many of their changes.
