The Disney Wish, what are you wishing for?

That would be a nightmare when dealing with food allergies. Not only cross-contamination possibilities but some people have allergies to even close proximity to things like fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc. so even that passing by someone who is in an otherwise relatively safe bubble could be disastrous.

Not to mention the fact that anyone could grab anything as it passed by assuming it was theirs.
Not to mention the little hands that would touch everything going past and the odd sneeze here and there and everywhere.

I’m wishing for:

New technology in the rooms. Alexa to tell me the best bits of the navigators or what time characters are meeting. Even what MDR I am assigned too for that day.

A new original MDR idea, i.e. one that’s maybe not linked to a character. As much as I love Animators Palate sometimes I don’t want a big show every night and with the new Tiana’s Place and Rapunzels, this seems the way they are going.

As much as I love Palo, I would love a new special restaurant. Still an amazing brunch/dinner offering but not a 5th, 6th and 7th Palo so there is one on every ship. I dream of Palo most days but they are getting lazy in not coming up with a fresh idea.

Magic Bands and PP/MM please. The photos are crazy expansive and to have to pull a card out seems archaic when we have had MB’s for so many years now. And especially when you’ve come from a WDW vacation and have to go to using a key card on the ship.

A cool new slide/water feature. Don’t just use the AquaDuck again but come up with something new and original.

I’m SO excited!

Magic Bands/an option to use your DCL app as your KTTW card. I carry my phone around for the app and to use my camera, so it would be great to be able to use it like Apple Pay and to open my door.

Royal have this on their newest ship so I would expect the same from Disney. From their app you can open your cabin, book activities, turn on/off up/down the lights.
And they have wow bands which are basically the same thing as magic bands.
Still need the key card to get on and off the ship tho to prove who you are in your ID

I can't wait to see what creative electronic innovations the imagineers come up with on this and the two successive ships. The difference between the smaller ships and the larger ones was awesome...animated pictures, detective agency, magic portholes in the inside staterooms, etc. I agree with suggestions that they leave one ship over here, on the west coast...any "old" one will do. I would think that over the next five years the DCL itineraries will change...hoping for Hawaii more often and points west. Now, the most important part is the statue in the atrium. How about Herbie, the Love Bug?? I used to have one for years in Syracuse, NY and that thing got me to work through many a snowy day. I know, Lighting McQueen has more personality...it's just a nostalgia thing with old me. After nine DCL cruises, three without kids/gkids, I hope DCL doesn't morph into being like other cruise lines with casinos, adult only cruises, climbing walls and one-time interest physical activities. You can get that with excursions. Most DCL activities on board challenge kids' (and adults) minds and make learning fun. The social interaction and personal attention DCL provides (i.e. Pluto playing with a service dog in the atrium) is unique and truly memorable.

The new ship WILL be based out of Port Canaveral, it is a formal agreement with Disney that all new ships will be based out of PC.

My wishes are that when announcements are made you can hit a button on your in-room phone or TV and HEAR what they are saying instead of standing at the door in your PJs with the door cracked to know what is going on. An option for adult only excursion - Grand Cayman - an excursion to Cayman Island Brewery and the Rum Factory and don't throw a beach into every tour.

DH would wish for them to bring back the Jazz music station to the TVs. We use to have it playing anytime we were in the room.

We don't have kids, but still only cruise DCL - More adult geared activities during sea days. Someone mentioned educational seminars about ports of call... that would be cool.

Our kids would like the rooms to be more heavily themed. Or, add special themed rooms for Toy Story, Cars, etc.

More activities for the 8-15 kids. They felt too old to be in the kiddy clubs, but want more planned activities.

Sail to other places. Not the same old Bahamas and Caribbean.

I also wish for more experiences for the age 12+ group. My 12 year old is sadly aging out of the clubs and doesn’t do video games or want to sit and watch a movie we can watch at home.

Maybe they have some of this but I would like to see some more artistic/creative/imagineering type options. Cooking, pottery, character experiences, behind the scenes tour, food tastings, educational seminars, animation, photography, calligraphy/hand lettering, sports, jewelry making, cake/cookie decorating, Disney secrets, meet an imagineer, etc. A cool little “ride” just for big kids would be fun - virtual reality or special swings or bouncy spinning seats, etc. Even a climb-up lookout would be cool.

Big kids like story time too - what about big kid bedtime stories with more advanced tales or interactive fun in a comfy lounge area with Captain Jack Sparrow or Cinderella’s stepsisters, etc...

It would also be cool if they had electronic “frames” around the ship that rotated through artwork kids in the classes and clubs made. Or played little animated shorts that the kids created with video animation, sketch animation, claymation, etc.

OP here. So it seems that some people don't mind additional up-charge restaurants . The thing that got me hooked on cruising way back when was that it as all inclusive (mostly). I guess I just don't understand why people are willing to pay more for restaurant or experiences with an additional charge when we are paying a premium for a DCL already. The only reason we go to Palo's now is we get it for free being Platinum otherwise we wouldn't go just because of the added cost. My other fear is when the new island on Lighthouse point is built that they don't turn it into what RC did on "A Perfect Day on Coco Cay". I know someone that had to pay an additional $500 for his family to have access to some of the "attractions" they have. Hopefully with Joe Rohde heading up the design this won't happen.
