Reports on twitter now people have been stuck for over 3 hours.

Even with the "kits" in each gondola I dont think it was ever intended for people to be stuck that long.

In that mice chat article it says reports say that blue jumped the cable causing the collision. If true, that seems to be a system issue not a guest issue.

Which would then lead to what caused that?

My gondola is stuck about 100 yards before the Epcot station. One of my friends is feeling pretty sick - started as motion sickness when we were moving and hasn't gotten better in the more than hour and a half we've been stuck.

They announced that we could open the emergency kits, so we have water, ice packs, and barf bags if needed. We're over the Friendship Boat Canal, so I don't know how evacuation will work when they come to evacuate us if it comes to that.

We have a view of the Epcot Forever show starting right now, though, at least.

I'm glad to hear that emergency drinking water was provided. It was good thinking to do this.

But I feel sorry for anyone stuck there who really has to go to the bathroom. Sure hope everyone will be OK.

No air movement in those gondolas on a sunny hot summer day for that length of time would be dangerous for infants and the elderly. Even half an hour would result in cabin temperatures of 130 degrees plus. Disney didn't think of this?

My guess is that the blue gondola was an offline car that was put online wrong and skidded off the track, causing the pileup. That's just a guess though. I hope everybody is evacuated OK, that's a LONG climb down.

They said a full system evac should take 3.5 hrs or something like that. So if half of the system is still running why is a partial evac taking so long? Guess that part may have needed more testing/fine tuning.

At this point that could be heat stroke. Still serious, especially to the vulnerable part of the populace of which there is a lot at Disney! (Older people, children, etc). Thank goodness it’s night

The emergency kits apparently contain 'waste disposal' bags in case you have to pee or poop. I do hope they have enough in there for 10 people on board. Problem is, of course, you have to keep the used bags on board until you're evacuated. And you'd have to pee/poop in front of everybody else in the car. Hope none of those cars is too crowded!

3.5 hours potentially IN THE FL SUMMER?! I think every Didney exec should get to test that out stating about 1:30pm mid July. Obviously with only the emergency kit for water.

I don't think this is the problem because Gondolas can't be taken off-line at the Riviera station! This is the only station that doesn't have the secondary loop.

Someone on Twitter said 1k people needed to be evacuated. Not sure where they got their info. Hopefully its not that many considering they only got 2 evacuated in 30 minutes.

Ya know, at that point I'd probably consider just doing it in my pants and then worrying about cleanup later. Sheesh... what a nightmare

If that is actually true, I’m not sure that’s the most practical decision by Disney, giving people the option of relieving themselves in public is not a solution to a transportation system failure, they should have had a more efficient evacuation plan in place, IMHO.
