I'm sure the experience was tempered by you not feeling your best, but I think your take on SWGE is pretty similar to what I'll think about it. I like Star Wars just fine and have seen all the movies, but I'm not a super fan and could take or leave the new land. I look forward to seeing it as it does look amazingly detailed, but the details won't mean as much to me as other places (such as the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, for example). I do think the attractions will be fun - it's too bad yours was ruined by your co-pilots. That's always a bummer!

Your evening in AK sounded lovely! I look forward to finally seeing Pandora and trying Satu'li Canteen. I'm glad you both found tasty meals AND treats, especially since the options in SWGE were lacking.

We decided to try the spicy popcorn and a coke bomb for Andi. We did not like the popcorn. It actually tasted stale and the red coating was really gross. This was a big miss for us. We threw most of it away.

I've heard this. Now you confirm that there's no reason for me to try this in January.

I really liked the land but was not able to appreciate it as much as I would have liked.

I really liked it too, but I didn't get to spend enough time there.

I plan to spend some more time here in January

The previews came out and of course I couldn’t get through for awhile and once I did I just grabbed the 1pm time slot and wanted to confirm it! I was so worried I would get the dreaded Disney IT error! During the boat ride, I was thinking why didn’t I take more time and pick a later time. Oh well, it would definitely be a hot preview!

I feel you on this. I was beginning to regret our preview from 11-3 as well. I'm glad you did okay, despite being sick and the heat!

We walked by Oga’s Canteen and were surprised when the CM said we could go in an take a look.

How cool! Nice that they let you pop in.

We decided to check out the QS areas! We couldn’t get anything vegetarian/peanut/nut free!

That's really disappointing! Too bad they aren't more accommodating for someone who has allergies/restrictions like Andi. I didn't even bother checking it out, so I'm not sure how they'd do for me restrictions.

Oof! This is scary! And I feel like it's really not great PR since the gondola system is so new. I was looking forward to checking it out in November, but now I don't know if I will or not.

Oh, how sweet! That's so lovely that she was able to express that to you. A wonderful moment for you to share. It's awesome that the two of you have those memories together from your travelling. I have a similar relationship with my mom and we travel well together, too, and have for a long time. It's a special connection!

We were hungry and Satuli was our destination. This is one of our favorite places to eat lately and it is a must on our trips.

The ride was peaceful and we didn’t have to share our seat with anyone, yay!

First, what does everyone think about the gondola problems? Wow, it sounds really scary and from what I have read, Disney didn’t know what to do. The guest experiences from social media sound awful. Most say they were not given updates and some were stuck for 3 hours!

I wasn't really looking forward to them anyway (not a fan of heights, normally). DH was bummed that we hadn't booked Pop Century for our next trip, as he thought these would be a nice alternative transport. I told him (after watching a video of someone on a ride on Saturday morning) that it looked like it would take a lot longer to get anywhere, especially with having to change at the main hub. After the incident this weekend, I told him again that I really don't want to go on them.

She told me how wonderful these trips are and how much it means to her! She said we have made so many wonderful memories together and it is so special to her Ahh, this made a mother happy!

We got on our ship and I was trying to press my buttons and watch the screen for the full effect and it was not easy! I have to say the ride was just meh for me. I completely agree, I hated having to look back and forth from the console to the screen. I wish everyone had the controls in front of them like the pilots. I can see how the group you are with would really impact your ride too. I'm hoping Rise of the Resistance offers a lot more!

I'm sorry SWGE wasn't the best experience! Still cool that you were able to fit it into your already planned trip! I can definitely see how being with a family can be annoying, I think we may have been that for our two engineers on my Mom and Calista's first ride! lol Not that we were know it alls but Calista was very immersed into it and was screaming a lot lol whoops! I feel like that is a bit of a design flaw in the ride! I am kind of surprised there isn't a function to just let the car do the buttons for you? Because it is difficult to press the buttons and watch the screen for the engineer and gunners!

I honestly can't believe the gondola situation! I was totally on board for riding them and now I'm kind of iffy! lol DH and I are staying at CBR for one night in December before moving over to Boulder Ridge and I had planned for us to ride over to DHS our first full day on the gondolas. I mean I WANT to trust them but I also don't want to lose 3 hours of my day getting stuck! lol I suppose I'll have to get over it since we are staying at Riviera after our cruise in March! lmao

Sounds like a perfect night in DAK. Its hard when one person is in a bad mood. And calling someone out doesn't help anything lol glad sweet Andi came back on her own! lol

Your co pilots don’t sound like fun! One of the supervisors at the hotel was the pilot when she rode that......and she was being harassed by folks behind her yelling at her to fly better!! She ended up giving up which annoyed them no end.......people are funny.

That beef was a good size for a kids portion!

I think you can see the sheer pleasure and enjoyment on Andi's face in the Dinosaur ride photo
I think it's wonderful you get to make such fab memories on your mother/daughter trips.

Thanks for reading and commenting! We have so many special memories in all the parks. Dinosaur is such a favorite of ours. We rode it once about 8x in a row when Disney had evening EMH at AK years ago!
Our trips together are so fun and we really do get along really good most of the time!

I think my sore throat did put a damper on my enthusiasm! I have to agree about HP World it is so awesome and I like it more than SWGE.
The annoying family told us they were passholders, well duh so are we otherwise we wouldn’t have been there
We do love AK, this park is so wonderful, spending time taking it all in never gets old!

I’m not going to lie, it was hot and I was a tad bit miserable so not the best experience! I’m excited to check it out again in January!

I was feeling yucky. I mostly had a really sore throat and a few aches! It wasn’t horrible but enough to put a damper on my afternoon.

I felt the smae the day after. And we rested a bit which is what I needed.

I was so flustered that morning. The previews came out and of course I couldn’t get through for awhile and once I did I just grabbed the 1pm time slot and wanted to confirm it!

It was so crazy! And I don't blame you! I am def glad we did the morning one. It was so hot towards the end. We saw two seperate people literally with heat exhaustion. One person, I swear they dumped a bucket of ice water on them.

The line moved nicely.

The line does move well. Which is nice.

We found the waiting area, right before you get on the ride rather chaotic.

So chaotic!!!! And the pressure to get your photo before you group is called is no joke!

This is going to be the problem with this ride, the people you are with will make or break your expierence.

This was a big miss for us. We threw most of it away.

Bummer. We liked it. But the girls still eat that colored popcorn, and it reminded me of that. I wouldn't tell anyone they HAD to try it. It was fine.

We had heard good reviews for the plant based “Kefta” (not sure what that is)

kefta is so good. Usually lamb I think, which makes it odd to be plant based. Bummer on the food, for you guys. There really wasn't any choices for the girls either.

Let me say first and foremost, it was hot during our preview, I was not feeling very well, and Andi doesn’t really like SW.
With that being said, I really liked the land but was not able to appreciate it as much as I would have liked. My sore throat and general blah feeling did put a damper on it! The ride was fair at best to me. The detail was very impressive, and I need to spend more time in the land, there is so much to see!

I really think this is the issue, if you aren't a star wars fan, the land is meh. Nice but you aren't going to spend hours in it. But I feel that way about Harry Potter. Something for everyone.

It was really cool and so detailed. I just wish I was feeling better and that we had enjoyed the SR more. The family were telling us how much they know about the ride and they are AP holders, no kidding!!

Wow you also have so many trips planned. Is your Cruise the 4 night one? I am sad we had to cancel ours. We will do one at some point!

SWGE was fun, very detailed. The ride is weird, how you have to share this more intimate space with total strangers. You never know how they will act.
I think if you ever venture to Disney, AK is such a wonderful park with very good food choices!
The sun was so intense this day, it was hard to stand for the pictures! Thanks!
