DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Soo.... hey, Rob... I commented the other day how I still lament missing meeting you?
I have the DIS open and am looking at your photos and DD18 wanders over and sees I'm on the DIS.
"Have you ever heard from that guy you missed seeing on your trip?"

I kid you not.

Well if you're ever foolish enough to get anywhere near the Charlotte area again, the drinks and grub are on me.

Nope. I'm buying because I'm too stupid to follow directions!
I can vouch for that.
:duck:
:lmao:

That's over 1 a week. I can't help but be impressed and ashamed at the same time :scared1: .
Wow! That is way more than I realized. I wonder what the number would be if there was a count of countries celebrating independence from the Roman empire.

I wonder what the number would be if there was a count of countries celebrating independence from the Roman empire.
I know, right? And there are another 14 that are still part of us!

A paltry 46 countries made up the Roman Empire. Although to be fair, that did include us. Until 410 AD.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We went to Mass this AM and then heading to the outlaws shortly. I hope I have enough Jesus and beer to sustain me for the day.

It was a good day.
Of course, any day at Disney beats a day at work, so...

We haven't tried Jiko yet, but we'll get around to it if possible.
Boma was hit-n-miss for us.
First time we went it was great.
The next time... meh...

Granted that the whole of AKL is a long way from everything, but we generally try to get there via bus from AK to break up the day. We also stayed at ASMu this time around and if you're doing the driving (which I prefer to do anyway) it's not that far.

I just can't do the driving, although, if we ever move there, then I guess I'll have to.

OK gents...
Time for me to wast more of your time with pics from the last trip.
(it's as close as I'll be getting to writing a TR on this one.)
Feel free to ignore them...

Last Tuesday.

After taking it "somewhat" easier the day before it was time to actually get you rumps up and do rope-drop.

At DHS this time...

View attachment 455265

And we all know exactly why any one would be doing rope drop as DHS...

Except we were among the about 20% of the folks there that morning who turned right rather then left (which is very un-normal for me) and we ended up here...

View attachment 455266

This it the thing we most wanted to try out
(and bloody well couldn't get a Fast-Pass for)

View attachment 455267

Excellent coaster.
I'll rank it fourth overall (of the ones currently open, that is).

Next up...

The ***
(dang Dis-Board censors)

View attachment 455268

Yeah, we road it.
Checked that box off.
likely won't do it again.

Unless...
I go back there with grand-young'ens in tow.
(which won't be happening any time too soon)

Next up...
Well, you gott'a finish off this whole part of the park before moving on...

View attachment 455269

Yeah, that's a fairly crappy picture, but I was more focused on other things at the time.

Like what to have for breakfast...

View attachment 455270

Believe it of not...
That was well worth the snack-credit it cost me.

OK, enough of the kiddie rides it time for some outer space type adventure...

View attachment 455271

Hummmm...
Something's not quite right here.

View attachment 455275

There...
That's better.

They were even offering classes on how to properly salute members of the First Order when you encounter them.

View attachment 455276

But we were there looking for work.
And work we found.

Piloting this piece of junk...

View attachment 455279

I was surprised that we got on this one with only about a forty minute wait.
Not bad for mid day and no fast-pass.
If you have any say in the matter, try to be one of the pilots.
Definitely the best seat from which to experience this one.

Great picture. 4th best coaster at WDW? Let's see your ranking then.

That may have seemed like a lot of food, but we split all of it and it wasn't as debilitating as it would seem. Not to say that we weren't quite full and needed to rest out feet for a bit.

So what else to do but head for a good bar...

View attachment 455303

I really wanted to order the prime rib sliders while we were here, but w'd just finished up lunch and had dinner to get to in a few hours, so

more booze instead seemed to be the right call...

View attachment 455305

And it was.

We actually lingered here for quite some time.
The Crew's Cup is an excellent lounge and a great place to kick up the feet for a while.

After that we strolled around the the Yacht & Beach Clubs and then slowly worked you way back over to the WS. Needing a bit more of a break after the walk we decided to take in It's A Small Mexico...

View attachment 455308

The music here is much better then at the "original", I'll tell you that much...

View attachment 455309

Believe it or not, it's been several hours and we have a late dinner reservation...

View attachment 455310

Hacienda de San Angel...

And of course...
MORE BOOZE!!

View attachment 455311

Oh, and dinner too...

View attachment 455313

Alambre de Res
(Flank steak, bacon, poblano and bell peppers with Monterey Jack cheese, lime, and salsa verde )

and

View attachment 455315

Costillas en Salsa de Chile
(Braised Short Rib with Potato Puree and Cilantro Chimichurri )

That...
That stuff back there...
That was some seriously good eats.

And since we were there rather late in the day, we got to see the fireworks...

View attachment 455317

Well...
Some what.
I asked for a window table but there are only so many, so what'ch gonn'a do.

View attachment 455318

It's all good though.
We'll get a better look at that show later on in the trip.

This year we will have APs so I'll get to park hop for the first time since our Disneymoon. I'm wondering if we eat and drink at every country this year in the same trip.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Remember, no Politics, Religion or BBQ discussion at the table, no-one likes a trip to the Emergency Room at this time of year.

Not much going on in London, going to see Death of a Salesman tonight with the good Lady Katharine. Wendall Pierce is starring (as long as he hasn't taken Thanksgiving off)

So, what's there to talk about it then? But, since you mentioned it, I'll go ahead and talk about it.

Politics - As for American politics, I'm still waiting for someone to provide actual evidence that one of the parties directly improved their life in the last 20 years. Until then, I'll keep my opinion that they are greedy and are not doing much of anything.

Religion - It's not only my religion (Catholic) but since work #2 is at the church, it's literally my job to convert others. So, I'm always ready for that discussion.

BBQ - You're right, no need to discuss that. Everything from KY is better - BBQ, basketball, bourbon. Ok, that's only 3 things. We lose on everything else. :lmao:

Happy Thanksgiving to me. Survived the outlaws. DW has divorced parents so I get the pleasure of ALWAYS doubling up her relatives for the holidays. Ugh. Got to watch part of the Bears game, then leave to drive to first one. While everyone was in line for the food, I changed the tv to the game. Watched the end of the game, and the first bit of the Cowboys game. Leave to 2nd inlaws where I get Fox News. Then back home, where I got to see the Saints score a TD but missed the opening kick/drive.

I guess that's all a bunch of first world problems. I am truly blessed with so much, and am definitely grateful. You all enjoy the rest of the holiday and have a great weekend.

Morning Chaps from a sunny London.

Black Friday SALE! Pepto Bismol! Tums! Exercise DVDs!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Even with the Outlaws in attendance. Enjoy your Turkey Sandwiches today, I actually prefer that to the Roast Dinner.

Oo, I'll play Top 5s

1. Expedition Everest
2. Big Thunder
3. Slinky Dog
4. Space M
5. RnR

Its strange, as lacking as Disney Paris is, both BTMRR and Space M are way better over there. Looking forward to doing the Matterhorn and Incredicoaster in April in DL. Space M in Paris is possibly my very favourite, with Tron in Shanghai a close second.

Morning Guys,

just a quick drive by today, tied up most of the weekend. Board meeting, putting on a couple of sessions on safe sport, luncheon, AGM and our annual awards all happen over the next couple of day. I'll see you all sometime in December.

Enjoy Black Friday and if you are videoing the excitement at the stores, turn your phone sideways!!

Have a good time mate, are you up for an award?

Morning, gents.
Fun filled day of cleaning the bathroom and taking my dad to the hospital for an appointment.
Still, better than (either of us) being on the other side of the ground. :)

Interesting order. And that's probably why Disney varies their coasters so much... something for everyone's tastes. Don't like scary coasters? Try Barnstormer or 7DMT. Like them? Try EE or RnR.
My top 5?

1. BTMRR
2. RnR
3. EE
4. 7DMT
5. SDD

Can't wait for both Tron and Guardians to open. Pretty sure my list will change.
Also... as I get older, the rougher coasters move lower. I'm already thinking that RnR and EE might switch positions. SM isn't even on the list.

I've shut down my laptop as I've moved into the US part of my day and everyone is off, so effectively there's only Ponzie, Rob and Jeff left at work and Darcy seems to be doing work for all of us,

That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one standing in Crew's Cup for Cinammon Old Fashioneds gets to take Pocohontas home for a Turkey Dinner and a bit of cheeky afters.
And let me tell ya, you've got to lay that bird down, truss up the legs, fill with sausagemeat........

And then tend to the Turkey.

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend chaps. London out.

Agreed sir. I always mark 7DMT down for the wait vs the payoff as its so short. It's a beautifully imagined ride, as is Tron. LOVE Barnstormer. First Coaster my boy went on, so will always have a special place in my heart.

Hallo!

It's a beautifully imagined ride, as is Tron.
sooooo looking forward to this one...

Hey Gang, hope everyone had a good thanksgiving! We visited family for a few hours with DS (2) and he was a blast the whole time. Starting to be able to take him places again which is wonderful! For awhile there he was a holy terror everywhere but the house.

Only doing a little bit of Black Friday shopping today, we grabbed a TV a few days ago on an early deal. The real shopping will be tomorrow, we are going out with family then. Wish we were in Disney to hit the stores down there!

Happy Friday. Cleaned another room in the house today and unpacked all the decorations from under the stairs.

The gravity defying monorail tree. I guess Cinderella can hang that way all day.

1. Expedition Everest
2. Big Thunder
3. Slinky Dog
4. Space M
5. RnR

I haven't tried new Slinky dog, but I didn't like 7DMT because there was no knee room.

(1) RnRC
(2) Space Mountain
(3) Expedition Everest
(4) BTMRR

RnRC is still my favorite because you go upside down and listen to Aerosmith. Unless you count Frozen Maelstrom as a roller coaster, then that might be my favorite because I get to sing along.

No shopping here. Did that one year, and it wasn't worth it. I may do some Amazon shopping today.

Hope all is well with your dad. We could do a top 5 attraction at each park as well. This will be the first calendar year that we haven't been to Disney since 2005. There will be lots of new stuff to try in July.
