RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

Any idea when they will decide? I'm longing to replace our TSM FP with Slinky in the 8-9 hour if it suddenly becomes available. Then we can RD TSM and maybe MFSR while waiting boarding groups to become available.
Absolutely no clue but as we saw this weekend, it could be the day before

I feel you. It really makes me miss Disneyland’s system, and really appreciate the boarding group system for rise.

I think it would benefit everyone if Disney went to the boarding group system for the most in demand rides at each park. They wouldn’t all have to be boarding group only, but essentially replace prebooked FP for tier one rides with day of only and have them disconnected to the prebooked FP system. Prebook any 3 rides (no tiers) and then hold one active BG for the previous tier 1 rides.

At DHS: RotR, MF, Slinky

Epcot: Frozen, Guardians, Rat

MK: Tron, 7DMT, Peter Pan

AK: FoP, Navi, Safari

Most of these will have a more reliable throughput and they can ere on the side of caution and just open the line up to standby if they get through all groups early.
I wonder if implementing a Boarding Group system in all 4 parks, for the most popular rides in each park, would cause a decline in park hopper sales? Would well-informed guests choose to not spend the extra $$ for a hopper ticket if they thought they’d be shut out of the most popular rides by the time they arrived at their second park of the day?

This opening is far more popular than the SR opening, for sure. I hope the ride is worth it. I'm hoping to ride at the end of Jan. beg. of February. I do think, based on how popular this opening has been, that BG's will still be in existence then. I'm glad I've been savvy enough to scan these boards for real time trends. I have a friend going for a single day and I don't think he knows what's involved. Hopefully, the person he's going with is in the know, if not, doubt he'll get to ride.

thanks for this information, I’m planning to go solo as I’m the only one in my family that’s interested in riding. my family sleeps until 8am so I am thinking of showing up at 6am and am worried about when I will actually get on the ride then get back to the hotel (staying at beach club). Ideally I’d like to be back at the hotel by 8am. Sounds like if I arrive at 6am this is possible?

So welcome! It was possible this morning because they opened the park gates at 6:30am and we were fortunate enough to get BG 22 after scanning magic band. Around 6:30am open has been happening the last few days although it’s not set in stone. We were about 15-20 back on the far right. There was quite a crowd before us that got BG 10-21 but it seems that it ran rather smoothly today.

I guess what I’m trying to say is there is no correct answer here other than getting there early and join BG right after scanning magic band. Then it’s up to the process that day. They let us in at 6:30am and BG 22 was called at 7:30. We were close and went immediately to the ride. Good luck to you!

@sayhello ~ has anyone reported this beyond Thursday and Friday?

After all the tweaking by Disney, I haven’t seen this mentioned over the last couple of days.
I didn't know you could do this. My understanding after following along is that your whole family has to check into the park with you to get a BG.

I'm interested in the idea of virtual queues in place of stand by lines at the very popular attractions, in conjunction with FP. I wonder if they could be managed in a way that would operate very similarly to current stand by lines, without the selling out and limits that have come with ROTR.

On the other hand, I would be worried about what it would look like at AK for example if a huge chunk of the SB line for FoP was let loose on the park.

I think it is going to be really interesting to see how long the pattern of people lining up at 5 am and the park opening at 6:30 am lasts. I definitely think at this rate, it will last through the new year. It may not slow down till 2nd week of January. Thoughts?

Pandora queuing was this same way, for months. People arriving 2, 3 hours before opening
I don't expect this to die down before January

Isn't that just if you want your whole family to be able to ride? I thought you could just choose yourself if you were the only one who was wanting to enter a boarding group.
Does this hold true if I have people in my party that are just for dining? That is, they do not have tickets are aren’t linked to anything?

...not saying you should leave your small children in the room alone while you ride ROTR :)
Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all that that sort of thing is frowned upon...

Ok so seriously though...at what age can I leave my children in the room alone... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Oy. My family is going to hate waking up this early. At least we're going when the park opens at 9am on a non-EMH day.

I have all kinds of people in my MDE (I am the sole planner for 3 of them and I manage the plans for up to 7, depending on the particular group going to WDW each time). I don't understand why that simple fact would force me to have to visit a cm to join a boarding group.

First, I apologize if this has been asked and answered. My searching skills are about as good as my cooking skills.
Can an uber access drop off at 5:30? Is there a delay? Or is it quicker to get dropped off on the boardwalk somewhere and walk to the Studios?

I am going down the week of Jan 20th, and have a few non-park days sprinkled in on the trip. I doubt my friends will want to get up that early (as even Rope Drop is a challenge). So my plan will be on one of my "non-park" days would be to take a solo trip to HS around 5:30/6am and get a BG for myself and then meet up with them somewhere on property later that day :-) (Assuming everything is the same at that point)

I believe the people who want to join a BG with you must be tapped in and in the park. Not everyone in your MDE.
