2 questions...

First does anyone know on the Amex Delta credit cards if you can use the statement credit on a gift card?
Second anyone have advice on how early to line up for the last candlelight (8:15) ceremony to ensure a seat?

Thanks and Happy Friday.
The first question no it doest anymore they changed its springtime.
Second I would say 630 that's when I used to wait but it depends on the night tbh.
With my kid not being able to sit still that long except on an airplane I always do the dinner package now.

We’re parking at Epcot but I’m staying in the car until it slows down. This is getting a bit ridiculous. I think we’ll just drive home tomorrow instead of going to any parks
I meant there’s nothing I can do while I’m in the park lol. We packed two pairs of shoes but the other pair got soaked last night. My socks are soaked all the way through too. I’ve kind of gotten used to it but my feet are a little wrinkly lol
I'd be buying socks! I was on a tour once in pouring rain, ended up with 2 pairs of souvenir socks, lol.
I second buying socks. You do NOT want blisters!!!

If the rain continues how about visiting some of the resorts to look at the decorations?

Annual fees posted on both my southwest cards. Plus and the business card.

Any benefit to keeping either of them? Or retention offers? Or tips on asking for a retention offer? Do I just call and ask if there are any retention offers?

otherwise I’ll just SM to close them both.

After 10+ years of driving DD to the pool several times a week (5 times a week at 4:15 AM for the past few years), she got her license today! Added her to my insurance and using my BCP to pay (have about $4,000 to go to get to $15,000 in spend and get the second bonus). Can't wait until we do our first fill up together at Kroger to maximize fuel points:)

Yeah that sucks to pay taxes. I once “won” a restaurant GC from my employer for a contest I didn’t enter. They wanted me to walk across the street middle of winter with a broken leg to retrieve said GC. I asked them to send it interoffice mail or just forget it, and they said they’d keep it until I could come get it, but in the meantime they took the taxes out of my paycheck. Something like $3 on a $25 GC. It ended up being for Applebee’s which there are none of in my area so I gave it away. So I paid money to give my winnings to someone else. Lol.

Ughh, what a great gift! <eye roll>

That sucks you have to pay taxes on the full value. :(

Just last week, I applied a Delta gift card to a Delta Vacations WDW hotel/Magical Express package. Thought I'd check the terms on the gift card so you can compare to yours. To my surprise, I saw this listed:
"eGifts and Cards may be used only for the Delta Air Lines air transportation portion of a Delta Vacations package"

I definitely had no air in my package. So whatever your terms say, you may just need to test it out. I happened to call in to make the reservation since the majority was going on vouchers. Not sure if that made a difference.

Hope it works out for you!

Ah, good to know! I had noticed that terminology on the delta site as well. I don't have anything in hand yet, but I will keep calling (even though I *despise* calling) in mind as a possible loophole of sorts. Thanks!

Barclay Hawaiian Biz Denied

Currently we are unable to offer you a credit card issued by Barclays Bank Delaware. Details on why we could not make you a credit offer will be mailed to you.
😡🤬😢

Could really use Hawaiian miles for a couple of upcoming trips but I guess Barclay isn’t on board. I’ll wait for letter and maybe app DH 🤷🏼‍♀️

My daughter got her license a couple of months ago, and we've done exactly this in Oct., Nov., and now Dec!

Has anyone done the TD bonus? I transferred the money from my Chase account to TD Bank. I checked and it coded as a transfer (not ACH). Any idea if I'll get the $300.00 bonus? I don't know how to trigger an ACH with TD Bank, but can do more research if the Chase transfer doesn't work.

I like to keep at least one SW card open at all times. In case I ever was in a pinch and needed to cash out SW pts for gift cards, having a CC gives you a better cpp rate. This decision is also justified as the anniversary pts almost offset the fee AND one support click above that is gravy then. I have a fair amount of success finding friends IRL to use SW support links since everybody is always asking me how I fly free all the time.

After I booked my summer flights I’m down to like 650 points lol. So there’s not a lot to cash out haha. But maybe I’ll keep one in case. I’ll have to decide which one is more worth it.

Hmm yea - no gift card worries for you. I’m regularly sitting on 300k-500k SW PTS so it’s like an emergency fund to me. A quick $3k+ on Amazon or Target if I lost my job or something crazy.

If you can’t generate a click from a family member of friend then perhaps close them both. You can try to get fee waived but that seems super YMMV these days.

Another retention DP here:

I called Amex regarding my Gold card and they offered a pretty "meh" 10K points for $1500 spend but I took it. I was planning on keeping the card anyway. The guy could see how and where I use it, too, and he wouldn't give me an offer until I told him what I didn't like about the card... Then later he tells me that he has the same card and also has trouble using those $10 credits. :rolleyes1

How are you generating that many rr points these days? Support links? Because with 5/24 and the 24 month restriction that’s a ton.

I blow throw at least 20,000-30,000k points a trip plus cp for a family of 4. We’ve taken 4 trips this year and have 4 planned next year. They go fast and I transferred a chunk of URs recently.

I was at 600k at one point from a BUNCH of CC bonuses back in 2013-2017. I actually only use SW pts for 2 flights a year and I’ve had a CP for the past 2 years so we were only using about 80k a year. Our 3rd flight each year is paid for as part of a larger family trip/gift. We were actually earning faster than we were burning until last year.

So I’ve just now seen my balance drop below 400k for the first time in a long time. I bracketed it like that rather than going into this level of detail lol. Basically I’m in spend down mode now.
