Did somebody say...SPREADSHEET?????? Man I love Spreadsheets!!

My first sheet tracks the bonuses, I have one for each player:

Credit CardAcctPersonAUDate AppliedDate CancelledAnnual FeeAnnual BonusSignup BonusMin. SpendBonus ReceivedBonus Value% ReturnNotesLast Activity

  • Credit Card is the Issuer and then the name of the card
  • Acct is the last 4 digits (or 5 digits for amex)
  • Person is whether it was me or my wife. Even though they are separate sheets this lets me sort if I combine them for analysis
  • AU is an "X" if I added an Authorized User (side note...DON'T do this on personal cards as it adds to the 5/24 count for that player too!)
  • Date Applied is actually the Date Approved, I guess I should fix that, haha!
  • Date Cancelled is only filled in if I cancelled the card
  • Annual Fee = the amount of the AF
  • Annual Bonus = any amount received annually as a bonus for having this card (i.e. bonus SW pts or the CSR travel credit)
  • Signup Bonus = the amount of points, miles, money, etc. I received as a SUB
  • Min Spend = the MSR required
  • Bonus Value = The value of the SUB (usually this is inclusive of the base spend too)
  • % Return = Bonus Value divided by Min. Spend
  • Notes = random notes
  • Last Activity = the last spend I put on the card. Useful to make sure I put something on cards every 6 months or so to keep them from being closed for inactivity
  • This one is sorted by Date Applied and I highlight Biz cards in a different color. Makes it really easy to see my 5/24 status :D
I also have a spreadsheet where I keep track of my loyalty account balances:
ProgramPersonPointsLast ActivityExpirationAs OfApprox. ValueNotesMembership ID

  • Program = Name of the program (i.e. SW Rapid Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, etc.)
  • Person = Me, my wife, or my daughters - whose account is it
  • Points = balance
  • Last Activity = last qualified activity (for programs with an expiration)
  • Expiration = calculated field based on last activity and how long points are good for
  • As Of = the last time I updated this account, if something is wrong this is how I tell when it might have occured
  • Approx. Value = how I value the points
  • Notes = random noets
  • Membership ID = my account number, useful when booking flights and such
Do you share? I’m a little ashamed to admit I don’t know how to create a spreadsheet

If I refresh the Accuweather page enough do you think the forecast will eventually change?! Not looking lovely for my trip. Weather hates me. I can do 70s and 80s, above and below are just not for me.

I guess I need to rethink my packing now. Still waiting on my CIP, I hope it arrives in time.

In my experience it always changes. So I actually feel better when the forecast looks bad when I check since eventually it will change. I actually get more concerned when it looks great when I check. I'm serious - it always tends to go that way on our trips, no matter where we go. I hope you get the good weather you want.

Yes, just imagine a life without spreadsheets.

It was great until about 2-3 days ago.

Last time we went in March the forecast was great, packed shorts, etc. I failed to check in the 2 days before leaving and it was freezing the entire time. Ended up buying my youngest a pair of Minnie sweatpants, the boys toughed it out and my older daughter had a pair of jeans (she's so smart) and I had capris. We still had fun, but added a little stress. I'm determined to not let that happen again.

Texas/Austin was under a big drought until we moved here. The day we signed the lease the clouds opened up, everyone was so excited lol I was ready to get out of Maryland as it had been quite a wet and snowy 2 years or so. It follows me....

I used to get super anxious about my Disney trip weather. Last year, we ended up with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s the whole trip. Normally this would have frustrated me to no end, but I really tried to embrace it. And I'm gonna say, it's crazy...but it was our best trip ever! I really enjoyed touring the parks in jeans and a hooded sweatshirt!! I think before, I let it mess with my mindset. I'm not telling you how you should feel, or whatever, just saying, that I was where you were... so I get it. But somehow I don't feel that way anymore!

Booked and paid for the Kyoto Hotel (5 nights) with Chase URs! Now the only lodging left to get is the one in Tokyo, which will be fewer points/money... just don't have the points for it yet. Worst case scenario, I have to pay OOP for that one.

That's the same hotel we stayed at last time and while we really enjoyed it for the location because that was as "local" as we were ever going to feel, they're a bit pretentious to charge roughly $200 a night! I guess I'll have to keep looking and see if the number of required points drops? How does that work? Would I have to book a new one and then cancel the old, or is that something Chase will do for me (refund the URs) if I ask them?

Timely discussion....I'm actually taking a break from packing right now (folded all my laundry while watching Avatar...that movie is simultaneously slightly better and SO MUCH LONGER than I remember!). @snugglebug, fellow Texan here - what are your dates? We will be there Sunday-Sunday. It looks a bit chilly and I can't decide if I'll be okay with just jeans, long sleeves, and a hoodie, or if I should also find room for a heavier jacket/scarf/hat. Normally I wouldn't bother but being out in the cold at the parks all day is very different from rushing to and from my car before and after work.

We brought hats and gloves last year and were very happy we did. We toured MK one evening in 45 degrees and had a great time! We didn't do heavy coats but rather opted for layered long sleeved shirts and hoodies.

I hope this is OK to ask here.

Is there someone with Amex MRs that would be willing to check the "cost" (in MRs) for me of a particular hotel in Japan if I send you the specific hotel name and dates? I am just trying to make my next plan and for the moment, it's going to be MRs since I am out of URs. (I don't have an MR earning card yet so I don't know of a way to look, myself).

If this isn't ok to ask, please let me know and I will remove the post.
