Did no one notice how many hours this thread was without posts last night? Crazy!

Note to self: Don't apply for a new card any time where there is a long weekend. It'll just delay your card by that much more and make you frustrated about all the spend you could be putting on it.

Also, regarding cruises: I've been on 2 Carnival and 1 Princess. I'm not a "party" type person. The Princess ship was beautiful and classy, but the entertainment (production shows) were awful. The Carnival ships (both of them older) were neither beautiful nor classy, but the entertainment was much much better. And although both Carnival cruises were "booze cruises" (3 days that just went to Ensenada), we didn't see anyone stupid drunk. Oh, with the exception of the unusual family who sat near us at the Chef's Table dinner. 60-ish year old woman, her 40 year old daughter, and the daugher's presumed fiance (they kept talking openly about how everyone was hoping he would propose on this cruise). The daughter was definitely and obviously pregnant and still tossing back the drinks. It was.... eye-opening.

Bottom line, we would gladly cruise either line again. It all depends on what you're looking for.

Oh, that's really good news!
It is. Now I don't have to have so much junk in the house (I was desperate). No more pop tarts! I swear I've gained 10 pounds. It's like when my older dog wasn't eating much and in trying to get her to eat the younger dog gained so much weight she couldn't jump on the couch (thankfully she has since lost it all:)

I suffer from low iron and b12 and it's amazing how horrible you realize you felt when you start feeling better. I take iron twice a day plus a liquid b12 supplement (I took b12 shots for a few months to help quickly get my levels up). I think my levels must be low again since my symptoms are starting to come back so I'm scheduled to get bloodwork and meet with my dr on Friday.

@Haley R glad you got the correct diagnosis and you should be feeling pretty darn good once the supplements kick in.
I'm supposed to take 1 tablet a day so I'm hoping I notice a change.

Mostly non-churning related, but I have been eyeballing our 4 DVC nights next month for Princess Half Marathon weekend and trying to decide if I wanted to switch them out. It was all in a 1 bedroom at Copper Creek, for a whopping 160 points, quite steep for just the two of us.

After much agonizing and checking multiple times per day, we are now staying the first night at the Hilton Buena Vista Palace (mostly paid for already due to required deposit + Aspire resort credit), second night in a Grand Floridian standard view (super shocked this one came up), and last 2 nights in a Kidani savanna view studio (that hallway is going to be rough after the half marathon).

So whoops... Guess I freed up enough points for another week! Promptly booked a week at CCV studio in December, mostly out of shock that it was even available. Maybe we'll have another go at the Candlelight Processional since ours got rained out last month. Or maybe I might get a marathon itch for January... Gotta get through Princess next month and the Cherry Blossom 10 miler here in DC in April though.

For all you parents out there whose kids are older and you're thinking about getting rid of toys... my inexpert and personal experience suggests that Legos are definitely a good bet. Really regretting the temper tantrum I had this summer where I took bins full to Salvation Army in a fit of rage instead of spending the time to to through and sort them. My older son also gave away probably 20 ships (mostly Star Wars) to his younger cousin. I'm sad he didn't want to keep them or go to the trouble of selling them but at least it's all in the family!

I did have a couple unopened boxes of assorted things and those are the ones I currently have listed and that seem to be garnering the most interest.

Oh, and also some random Disney things have sold (of course!)

That’s great!
I know how you feel, I had kept going back a do forth between staying in a one bedroom for fewer days and a studio for longer. We did 9 days in a studio on our last trip and it was just too long for us. I would do a studio again but for fewer days. Funny our next trip is for 4 nights and 2 of them are in copper creek in a one bedroom! We have t stayed there before so I am looking forward to it. But we have 4 of us for this trip so we definitely need the room.

I forget whose posts made me start thinking about Costa Rica, but my initial research suggests that Hilton (and in particular the Aspire resort credit) is not going to help with this. Should I be looking at other hotel chains, or maybe MRs?

The Washington Post just ran a story about how Legos are great for stressed out adults. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/01/16/legos-toys-for-stressed-adults/

Lucky, my husband took the time to pack away a lot of our good - worth saving toys. Our youngest is 19 so he did it years ago. We have a beautiful Thomas train table with many many trains. Also ALOT of Playmobile. LEGOs too that he saved but they are basically all in a big box not all separated. 😂

Thanks for the link. I need to read it, and I sent it to DH. We got the Hogwarts Castle on clearance a few months ago and it really does help.

We kept all the trains, Legos, and Playmobil, too.

My parents kept all of our Legos in a box like that. It's a huge box with pieces thrown everywhere. They dug it out for Christmas when my 4 and 2 year old nephews came to stay. They absolutely LOVED building with them (the 4 year old more than the 2 year old). The younger one just liked wrecking anything that was put together lol. It was fun for me to go back through and notice pieces that went with certain sets. I'm glad they kept them all this time. They kept a dollhouse that was mine and we have it now at our house. I also have a train track that you piece together with magnetic trains.

What does everyone think about Dh getting a Capital One Venture as his next card in late Feb/early March? Our total payment for our medical bill is due March 23. I'm able to refer him to it since I have the same card. We would plan on using it for those bills, but possibly later in the year as well to pay for the Airbnb we want to stay at next year in Japan.

I guess the main question is what is his 5/24 count? And when will it change? If he is getting close to 5 are you done with Chase?

Take your iron with vitamin C. It helps absorption. Avoid calcium with it. (History of anemia both when pregnant and not). :)
