Official 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend - CANCELED

Thanks for the replies. Depending on what time HS opens we may still have a chance to get a BG for ROTR then. We are trying to ride it on Thursday for the first time and either Friday or Saturday as a backup. With APs blocked on Friday I am thinking that crowds might be lower than Saturday.
A 7:00am opening will be difficult for later corrals with the 5K unless you are very fast and skip all photo ops during the race and the character photos after the race. 8:00am might work, but again it may come with tradeoffs such as skipping photos. And some of the photos are not possible in the parks, especially with Star Wars.

This is our current thought process too!! Well, we are also going to try on Thursday morning too...For Friday My daughter and I will hopefully start a little earlier than C...and Im hoping my DH has the car standing by at the Epcot finish line to high tail is over to DHS at 6:30...definitely NOT how I like to spend my post race time - but if we can get a BG for that day it would be great...the boys run the 10k on Saturday AM but I don’t think they will be done as early AND the AP block out is lifted which is bound to increase crowds...it’s also the first real day of New England school vacation...

I have 2 days planned at DHS, Saturday after the 10k and Monday. The hours currently state that the park will open at 9am but I guess that might change. Our plan is to try to go over right after the 10k on Saturday to try to get a boarding pass. If the park hours change and it opens at 8am, we might be out of luck but we can at least try for a backup boarding group. The we'll go back to the room, shower and get cleaned up, and back to DHS. That whole day is DHS for us, whether we get a boarding group or not.

If we don't get a boarding group Saturday, we're going to try for it Monday. Monday's not quite as ideal though because we have Magic Kingdom After Hours that evening. So if we have to go for a Boarding Group on Monday, fingers crossed that it's an earlier one and the ride doesn't have a lot of down time.

At this point, I've given up on ROTR until a summer trip, when I have the time to get to DHS at opening, AND the time to wait around for however long it takes to be called. My AP is blocked out Thurs and Fri, so those are out entirely. Sat is the 10K: no way I can get to DHS early enough. Ditto for Sun and the half. I check out Mon and won't have time to wait if I don't get a very early BG, so that's out, too.

Honestly, I'm okay with this. My focus on race weekends are the races. I tend to spend more time in the parks during this particular race weekend than I do others, but sleep and down time are still my priority. I'm planning to hit DHS Sat afternoon and Sun. afternoon and evening to just indulge in as much Star Wars as I can! I'm also hoping the Space 220 restaurant will be open in EP - not exactly SW-themed, but would be a fun add-on to the weekend, I think.

Okay, so new FP plan: try to get Falcon for Sun and MMRR for Sat. And maybe also Mon. morning. Just tried to get a FP for the first weekend it's open: no dice.

Don't know if everyone saw this, but they've announced that the new Mickey ride will have fast pass and it will be Tier 1. So the tier 1 rides will be slinky dog, millennium falcon and the new Mickey ride.

Thanks for this! I was able to snag one for my parents and I when we go for Spring Break! Definitely excited to check out this ride! :)

Yeah, though that certainly makes tier 1 a dilemma. I have 2 hollywood studios days so I'm thinking I'll try to get a fast pass for Slinky Dog and the new Mickey ride, and get in line for Milennium Falcon toward the end of the day.

Unless FastPass really changes things, the Falcon standby line should not be too bad. Plus, it will help having Slinky Dog Dash and Runaway Railway on the same tier as the Falcon as there should also be heavy demand for both of those rides.

That said I will get a Falcon fastpass if only because I'm curious to see if my Star Wars MagicBand does anything different in Galaxy's Edge.

I'm going solo, so I'll probably go for M&MRR and try for single-rider on the Falcon. (But, if I don't end up hitting the Falcon, it's not a huge tragedy as I rode it four times in our DL trip last month.)

I didn't spend much time in Galaxy's Edge in Florida in part because I did not think that my usual time exploring the area walking around for a long time was a good mix with Dopey. The weekend Rise of Skywalker opened I went down to Disneyland and spent almost all of my time in Galaxy's Edge. Now this trip I will probably spend more time since I'm staying for one week after the races.

Can anyone confirm that Poly guests can walk to the start of the 10k at TTC?

The past 3 years there has been a walking path available for VGF and Polynesian Guests to the start line at the 10K & Half Marathon. You are told you have to use the designated path they set up for it. It isn't a quick walk though if you were to compare it to the Disneyland Races as the race starts at the very back of the Magic Kingdom Parking Lot.

Thank you! I think I will stick with AKL :-)

Heads up, folks - just got notice from Touring Plans that they've updated the hours for HS on Sunday, 4/19. Opening at 9:00 a.m., with evening EMH (8:30-10:30).

If anyone was planning to spend Sunday exploring Batuu and showing off your new race bling (uh - ME!), you might want to check your plans! (Now I just need them to officially schedule the Star Wars fireworks...and maybe open the dessert party so my Star Wars celebration day can end on a highlight! LOL)

I just got that alert too. We were planning on Epcot Sunday but I was wondering if they might change the morning times for DHS to 8am that week. I guess we'll all just have to continue keeping an eye on it.

I fully expect them to readjust the opening hours closer to that day itself. The day after the marathon, DHS was supposed to open at 8:00am. The Friday before the marathon they changed opening to 7:00am. As much as I would love to see those hours hold, I do not think they will.

Did my first run since WDW marathon weekend. Realize need to get back on the regular running schedule. Between recovery, work, school, and the weather, plus procrastination, the past month just got away.

Parks Scheduling question for you:
We leave WDW on Tuesday after the race. We have HS planned for that Monday, and will probably do the After Hours event that night.
Question is what to do Tuesday. Staying at the Poly and flight is at 8pm that night. Initial thought was Magic Kingdom. But that would be three times visiting there, and only one for HS. Been going back and forth on doing HS instead, especially since Runaway Railway will be on FP and a star wars focused weekend. Thoughts?
