DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning gents.
What a difference a day makes!
Last afternoon/early evening the temp was hovering around -2C/28F... Well, a cold front came through and right now it's -27C/-16F
and the wind's blowing so it feels like -44C/-47F.

brrr...

there's a guy at work who was recalled to active duty over a year ago who came back. Because work is legally obligated to give him his job back, or a job, they put him in my dept. Because he's back, and now in my dept., I don't think they're going to need me at the end of the month, so I may be out of job.
Uh, oh...
At least my boss at work is going to pay for my forklift training before I go so I'll have another skill set to present on my resume, he did say that to me, so...very cool of him.
Nice of him. And, yeah. A good skill to have.
I've been applying to jobs left and right and can't get anyone to call me in for an interview....I've even pulled in a favor and had a friend, who works in an HR dept. of a Boston Hospital, to hand deliver my resume to someone in her dept., and I still haven't heard anything.
Man... good luck!
. Our insurance through the state got all screwed up, so I had to fix that, and while I paid my insurance on the due date, it registered as the next day, in other words: Late. As a result of being late, they said I let our insurance lapse so now we have no insurance for this month (I got it fixed for next month, and am fighting to get it reinstated for Feb.), and my wife's going into surgery next week!
Hope you get it reinstated. What's the Mrs. in for? Hopefully not anything too serious?
And to top it off, while playing with my daughter last night and managed to hurt her. Daddy of the Year award for me.
Oh, man. That's the worst. You hurt a guy and you're like "Sorry dude. My bad." But you hurt your child and you feel like the worst person on the planet.
Maybe the Chippendales has a D group called the Chunkendales I can apply to. "Look out ladies! Here comes the Stud Muffin of Cape Cod" :rotfl2:🍻
Hope you like $1 bills!

Top O the Mornin Dads! Is it me or is time of this year just a difficult one? Weather is really just a downer, the job has been a PITA (more so than usual), DW is in a funk, and my Blackhawks have lost 4 in a row after making a decent push - just a bad stretch I guess. The counter balance to this mess is DS is coming home this weekend, it is Wednesday, I'm almost at the 3 week countdown mark, family is overall very good, Zerf will sharing pics on the other site of his annual pilgrimage to DaWorld and I have you knuckle heads to chat with. So at the end of the day guess I can't complain - cheers!
Hey, Gents! How have things been? I see it's been slow this week. Let's see, what's been going on in my world....well, there's a guy at work who was recalled to active duty over a year ago who came back. Great! And to top it off, while playing with my daughter last night and managed to hurt her. Daddy of the Year award for me. I'm going to lose it. At least the VA approved my claim for tinnitus and I'm getting reimbursed for that...didn't get my hearing loss claim approved, but I got something. Sorry to vent, gents, but I just had to get it out of my system. Maybe the Chippendales has a D group called the Chunkendales I can apply to. "Look out ladies! That's cold, dude! Stay warm! Oh, and don't forget to keep your water running in the house.
brrr...

Uh, oh...

Yeah, it is what it is.

Nice of him. And, yeah. A good skill to have.

He's cool like that. He told me that he's been in my position before, so he's been trying to give me as much transferable skills as possible.

Man... good luck!

Thanks, I need the luck, and prayers.

Hope you get it reinstated. What's the Mrs. in for? Hopefully not anything too serious?

So do I, and we're fighting for it. If they don't reinstate us, I'm going to let loose my attorney, who's also my mother-in-law, and she's not to be messed with when it comes to the law and the courtroom. She's going in for a hysterectomy.

Oh, man. That's the worst. You hurt a guy and you're like "Sorry dude. My bad." But you hurt your child and you feel like the worst person on the planet.

It is, isn't it? Man, I felt absolutely horrible last night. I almost cried because of all the stress of what's been going on and then that. I just almost lost it.

Hope you like $1 bills!

Boom chicka chick wow wow! :rotfl2:

Sorry she didn't get to state, but at least she showed on her last meet! That's something.

Stay safe, and dry, my friend. It's been weird weather here in New England this year. Where we normally have temps in the 30's and below, we have temps in the 40's and almost 50's. Weird weather. Hate to see what summer brings.

Good luck with the transition and new responsibilities. Hope all works out for you.

Good luck with the chauffeur job.
I hope things work out for you. You have an awesome attitude considering everything you are dealing with. Keep it real

Best wishes on the move and enjoy Disney. As Meatlof said..."2 out of 3 ain't bad"
Sorry about the raise thing but hey moving out of inlaws and a Disney trip ain't all that bad
You guys are both right. I'm going to try to focus on this attitude. Also, I got great news today. My job is transitioning, but I'm going back to my old team, who I was moved off of last year and had previously had years of experience with. I have friends there and I'm familiar with it, this is a godsend for me.

Oh yes - the color of Winter in Ohio.....the lovely color of GRAY....the color of gloom. The winter depression here is real. And we're set to get 3-5 inches of snow this evening. Will make for an interesting commute and more than likely no school tomorrow. I'm sure my DDs will be wearing their PJs inside out and flushing ice cubes down my toilets. I'm not so sure about the effectiveness of these things - but whatever floats their boat.

Enjoy your time with DS this weekend - hopefully his visit pulls DW out of her funk instead of puts her in a deeper one!

I too am looking forward to the Zerf Does Disney. I don't know how many pictures of umbrella drinks and steaks I can take - but it's always fun to live through him!

Haven’t seen many, but there’s a few I’d like to see. 1917 comes to mind. Ford vs Ferrari is high on my list. Jojo Rabbit looks interesting, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is another. Enjoyed Joker and The Irishman.

Ford V. Ferrari was really good. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and also knew it wouldn't win any Oscars. I'd like to see 1917 and The Irishman. I could probably watch Once Upon a Time...the others, not so much.

I always wonder if he actually goes on any rides when he's down there.

INSURANCE IS TAKEN CARE OF!!!!!! After spending an hour and fifteen minutes on the phone with Mass Health Connector, the insurance is all set. My wife met me for lunch today and we went out to my car so we could use the bluetooth and took care of it. Long story short, they ultimately screwed up, and as a result they reinstated my wife to Feb. 1st. *Doing the happy dance*

Happy Wednesday. Another wet, rainy day here. Played tennis at lunch and heading into work tonight.

Ouch. If you were an old geezer you could fake deafness on the trips. Maybe a week to be sick and just let her take the car.

She accuses me of that now. She calls it selective hearing. I call it not wanting to take the trash out when she does.

I tried that job. They kept asking for change. :sad2:

It's not you. The cold has been a lot worse this year on me. I keep hoping DW will want to move south, or at least snow bird. But, we still have 4 more years for that.

Well, I’m in an office building alone at 4:00 in the morning. Night shifts are fun. On the plus side I wear my slippers to work and I have no need to dress up, so there’s that.
Anyway, might as well see what you guys are up to.

Man that seems tough. I can kinda relate as DD being a nurse never works anything close to regular. Hope you get a routine going as best you can for and the family.
Had I only been used to working office hours Monday the Friday yes it would be rough. But most of my career has been a very non traditional schedule. I worked on an oil rig for 7 years where you’re at sea for three weeks at a time. Then I went overseas and was away from home a month at a time. I’ve had 18 years of 12 hour shift work. I’ve just never done it from home before. But family is adjusting to it and at least I go home at the end of 12 hours.

It is, isn't it? Man, I felt absolutely horrible last night. I almost cried because of all the stress of what's been going on and then that. I just almost lost it.
I hope things turn around for you.

Supposedly a spoon under your pillow does the trick too. I have no idea where that stuff came from.

Hey gang, today is the big day! We start moving in a couple hours. I've got most of our stuff packed up, and my family is going to help move boxes, kitchen appliances, and clean / setup the new place. Then I'll spend tomorrow packing up the stragglers, and saturday the moving truck comes for the furniture. I'm very excited and having a hard time focusing on work

OH yeah - they've tried that before, but as I recall, the fork was more readily available....so a fork under the pillow worked just as well. :rotfl2:

Whatever they're doing - it's working. We had 2-3 inches over night, not the 5-7 they were thinking and they still chose to cancel school. So inside out PJ's it is!

Top O the Mornin Dads! Got hit with what I think was a typhoon last night driving home. Rain was coming straight down and sideways - at same time. DS coming home tomorrow so that will be good and hey, it's Friday eve!

All the best, don't work too hard

Morning, Dads! Feeling a lot better today now that the insurance is taken care of, still a lot to do, but I feel a lot better. It's been raining a lot lately here in Massachusetts, but yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day. Today? Back to rain; not sure if it'll rain all day, but it was this morning. Well, not much to report. Have a good day, gents, and we'll chat later.

Congrats! I'm glad it worked out for you

Thanks!

Good news about the forklift skills. Better luck on the stripping job.

Yeah, I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the forklift. Just hope I don't bang into anything. And I pulled out my leopard print speedo. Just let that sink in and fester in your brain. :rotfl2:

I tried that job. They kept asking for change. :sad2:

:rotfl2:

Right? I'm kind of hoping to pay insurance bill with dollar bills.

I hope things turn around for you.

Thanks, man.

I've driven home from Boston in rain storms like that. It's both fun and scary at the same time.
