Chatter on other sites - no travel agency discounts for next year?

I got a price for Labor Day Special from a travel agency it was the one that in the past has great deals and they were only offering two deluxe resorts and for 7 nights the Contemporary standard was 2,740.60 and the Yacht Club standard was 2,693.35 and the theme park tickets are no longer discounted.
Anything under $400 at those resorts are decent, but the Yacht Club standard might be a bit cheaper with the Sun and Fun offer through Disney.

So you’re subtracting $357 from $578 and you got The Poly for $221 per night?
That was the pricing I received for end of July which includes deluxe dining last month. Keep in mind that park tickets are separate and there is no discount on that portion (that I know of). However, it is ALWAYS best to look around and check prices yourself (is get a quote).

That is why I always check with the TA before I book a trip. I used to plan them directly through Disney until I tried them.

I’m just trying to wrap my head around getting The Poly for $221 per night In July. I use the same agency (probably as you) and the quotes during specific time periods are generally the same for everyone.

I feel like you might want to double check your reservation. Rack rate for the Poly is $558 plus tax for the end of July. It’s unheard of to get over 60% off per night, even if you use something like Priceline. Are you sure the total price includes dining for 3?

You are correct...I wasn’t thinking!! 😭. Clarification: I have a reservation for the contemporary...not the poly. The room rate is $448.25..to get a room at poly for the end of July would be an additional $90 per night making poly $538.25 NOT including dining (that’s where I went wrong the rate does not include dining.

which goes back to the thread of there not being such amazing discounts anymore (while it is better than Disney direct pricing it's definitely not what it used to be).

I’m glad you figured it out. I thought I was either going nuts or missing out on the deal of the century. :rotfl:

Yeah, sadly, I think the great Poly deals are gone forever. I’m just not ready or willing to pay over $500 for a standard room and call it a deal. Lol.

im glad you said something!!!! 👍👍👍

I'm paying $175 total per night at Poly Standard View Studio next week - but that is the cost of my Maintenance fees of the SSR points I used to book the room. With the cash rates as they are nowadays if I hadn't purchased DVC years ago I'd never be staying at these resorts now.

With the nine months I owned DVC this is my only regret. Not using the points at the Poly, but hey, I did get two nights at a studio in CL at AKVs, so there is that!! (and I used them at BCVs and SSR too) I will have to rent points to stay there, unless, when a recession does return and not only that the big deals will return but that I can afford to go as well.

the Coronavirus? I hope not....but could effect the travel industry.
Its concerning. It won't just be the travel industry if it gets really bad. I travel to San Diego/Mexico next week and I am worried. But I am not going to let fear hold me back right now.

Last year I did book a one night stay at POR with that certain travel agency before our four night stay at SSR. I did this to get the discounts on the tickets. It was a nice savings. The room was like maybe 11% off. A joke. But the tickets is why I booked the room. I will not be using a TA to book a room at Disney unless I get a good amount of savings somewhere, some how? I am using Dreams Unlimited with our cruise next year, and I am getting a $350 OBC, a nice gift before the cruise and some great customer service.

very true. our trip is not for 7 weeks. I think I would feel more confident next week than when we are scheduled to go.

Right. I told my husband that yes, lets go ahead and do this next week. And he agreed saying that it has yet to "get a hold" of the US. But he also said this could change his mind about going to Germany in June for his job.

Are these rates usually better than ap rates? Not sure where to look for a night.

Just sayin' the economic outlook has turned decidedly negative in general and especially for the travel industry. I suspect we are getting much closer to some better deals.

edit to add: It is a good bet that when the Q1 and Q2 numbers come out, they will show that the recession started in Q1. We are likely in recession at this very minute.
