Dh and I met with a lawyer today for a free consultation to talk about getting our wills drawn up. Our financial advisor suggested getting it done before the baby is here. Dh wasn’t happy with the quote the guy gave us. I’m curious what others have paid to have a will made. Is anyone willing to share?
My will was around $3,000.00 (I used an estate lawyer) but was a bit complicated since dh and I have separate wills (due to his corporations) and the fact that we have homes / bank accounts / assets in Canada and the US. Also I had to list a few specific pieces of jewelry that I want each of my kids to have and have my BIL fairly compensated for being the executor. I made a few changes 4 or 5 years ago that were fairly straightforward and may make a few more once dd finishes university.

I never thought I'd have to think about refinancing again since I'm at 3.25% and only have 10 years left on a pretty small balance. But still, your post made me look. My local bank is at 2.62 now for a 10 year term. Without running the numbers I'm thinking it still probably wouldn't make sense for me, but it may be worth it to crunch some numbers. So if they just cut rates now, will the rates go down even further from what I see today?

Hope this does help get some business for you!!
very similiar stats to mine

Marriott Free Certificate Question. So, my 2 Chase Marriott Cards (personal and biz) just posted their AF. I am keeping them for now as we can use the Free Night Certificates for pre-cruise stays. I went online to Marriott to see if the Chase ones had posted yet - they didn't as probably still too soon.

But.... I also had the AMEX Brilliant that I downgraded in January after the AF came due. So, I was now going to get a 35,000 free night instead of 50,000. Well on my account it shows that I have 2 free night certificates to use. 1 for 35,000 and 1 for 50,000. Not quite sure how that happened....

We did our wills/POAs/HealthPOAs a few years ago after my FIL died without a will. That was crazy and to this day some of the siblings do not speak to each other and I know that my FIL's wishes were not fulfilled simply because he never took the time to get a will. I lucked out on the cost for us. I signed up the a voluntary benefit at my work that provides legal assistance. The cost is ~10 a pay or ~260 a year. We got all the necessary items we needed. We don't have complications, though. Even with DS now over 21, I don't see a need to change since it was written in a way to put things in a trust or have a guardian until he reached certain ages. I feel good knowing we used a lawyer. I don't think I would want to do something like that on my own even though our estate is fairly simple.

question for a friend... (I feel bad for him) any advice on booking using UR thru the portal? This is kind of an international question-but he had booked (for his honeymoon) a trip to Amsterdam and then Rome. (unsure, but I think it might have been KLM?) He is coming from Panama, and had called the Portal TA to try and cancel anything he could (I guess he has valid concerns about not being able to go home from Rome to Panama) and they told him to call the airline,no refunds.... so airline giving no love either.... hotels (using UR) apparently not refunding etc. I know this is a complicated (and random) question, but is there anything else he can try? Anyone know of anything that might help him out? This trip was supposed to happen around March 12 or so..... thanks for any advice opinions. (frankly I myself wouldn't be concerned about such a trip, but this isn't for me)

I need to do this........I keep putting it off even though I know I shouldn't.

we have this as an add on option with my employer too. I’ve never done it since it seems like something I wouldn’t use much plus I want to be able to choose my own lawyer. But that does seem like a good deal for a trust preparation. Might consider it next year.

Dh mentioned he has it too but we couldn’t do it until after the baby is born because Dh didn’t add it to the plan for this year. They’ll only let us add it after a life changing event (the birth).

Yep - we did the same thing. There was a list of attorneys we could choose, I believe, and the person we used was totally fine. Our stuff isn't that complicated. Now that I think about it, we probably do need to update at some point. I don't think my current company offers the same benefit - bummer.

People actually do this all the time. A Cash out refi on the primary and then buy a rental/2nd home. As long as you can qualify with all the payments, it's not an issue at all.

For the travel, like I said, we are going, unless stuff closes. For DVC I am sure they would put our points back, and waive the holding requirement. For the AP, no clue what they would do. Extending the expiration dates would be nice. I have one trip in April and am maybe booking a 2nd one there in July.
this is interesting,I need to learn how this works..... I tried looking some stuff up but got kind of lost...any tips to research? I was considering something like this as a possibility

that happened with me last year when I pc'ed a card...... I ended up with 2 FN certs...and used them both! (35k)

I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that we'll at least see a technical recession within the next six months.
Google canceled their developers conference and that was HUGE. Twitter is making employees work at home. And now Amazon has a sick employee in Seattle, not to mention all the new cases in New York and California in the last 8 hours...

With amazon they'd already stopped travel and the building the worker was in is still being used and everything is as normal. The news also said those in close contact to the person have been notified but they haven't been at work since leaving early 2/25. Amazon also has multiple locations here so problematic possibly but I don't think this one is going to affect them unless ot spreads and from what I've been reading I would expect others to be sick by now if it spread at the office.

United card AF just posted for DH. It's an 8 yo card and if DH flies United 3 times, we make up the fee on luggage. I'm conflicted. Anyone ever get a retention offer? Is it worth calling?

We just pulled our wills out last month thinking we needed to update them. We must have done them right after DS was born because it did mention all 3 but had provisions in case we had more. With the way they were worded we came to the conclusion we didn’t need to update. Besides guardian, which we wouldn’t really need any more (well I guess 2 more months till DS turns 18) everything else was pretty generic and still relevant. Kids would not get bulk of money until 25 and person we named as trustee is still good. We did POAs at that time also. So hopefully we are good for awhile.

Well Dh and I had decided we were going to still go to HS tomorrow to ride MMRR. Now I’m seeing reports about how it’s rockier than people expected but there’s no pregnancy warning so I’m not sure what to do
I asked my dd who rode it last week. She said it is very smooth. One 'slighty rocky' part but otherwise, very smooth. Spins and rocks but not fast.

Okay thank you! Everyone keeps saying it’s so rocky. I was getting nervous. I think we’re just gonna go and do it. I wanna get our magnets at Epcot too. We’re gonna try to squeeze it all in tomorrow night instead of driving back Friday

Does anyone know what Platinum IHG gets you at an Intercontinental. Like does it include Club Intercontinental Lounge Access? That would get me free breakfast. Just
