At the very least, hotels won't open before June 13, because Disney is cancelling reservations for that week:

I really wish Disney would announce something before next week. We will be 31 days out from our first DVC stay and I really don’t want to get stuck with holding points if they open resorts without parks and we decide to cancel. I think I picked the wrong time to buy DVC

I'm confused. Are DVC villas considered Disney Resorts? If Disney is cancelling mid-June resort reservations, does that mean DVC members' reservations will also be cancelled? Please enlighten me.

DVC villas are a timeshare and different than the resorts. They are currently being cancelled 5-7 days out, not 3 weeks out like the resorts.

That's a rough situation. You're probably going to have to make your decision with a lot of uncertainty.

We have a cash stay too because I was afraid this would happen but it will be thousands of dollars I really didn’t want to pay out when we just bought our contract...it’s been a mess since the beginning when we replaced a cash stay made over a year ago with the dvc stay then had to book another cash stay because of all the uncertainty. I do love Disney but I am not feeling very good about my decision right now—hopefully this will be just a bump in the road of many happy years of ownership but I’m feel pretty low about it at the moment. I’d probably just drop the trip but we are hosting some people who really want to go and it’s been in the planning for so long. I know I’m not alone in my decision. There are many who are having to and have had to make the same one, but after wanting to buy into DVC for so long this feels like a kick in the pants.

While DVC resorts are not run by the same division, DVCM, our managing entity, hires Disney to run the resorts, so they have the property management contract.

I dont anticipate them to open DVC resorts before the others, though, but technically they could if Disney decided to provide the workers.

Since park hours are gone through June 13th, and CRO is canceling cash reservations through then, I do anticipate DVC reservations will be canceled as well.

If the DVC resorts and parks don't open by June 15-20 for my Riviera stay, I hope they do the right thing and let all of us who have faithfully and loyally hung in there with reservations, to "undo" the reservations, i.e. no holding period and "unborrowing" of points. I can't get anyone to put that in writing, we're inside the 30 day period now and still no announcement on open date......it would just be the right thing to do.

I do think that they will give some leeway on holding for those that have not canceled but I do not know how long they will allow borrowed points to be put back once they announce the reservation will be open.

As of today, both those things are in place. If you are not going to go, even if open, then I’d cancel before they reverse the policy.

But, if they end up closed during your stay, then I would assume they same policies will be in place.

Personally, I think they will open mid June after what we heard today with June 5th opening of Universal.

I think we'll have a better idea of Disney's reopening plans as early as today. Disney will be presenting their plan to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force in the coming days. I would expect an announcement soon after.

Yes, June 1st reservations are open for DVC members.

Of course this is all just speculation -- but do you think they'll open up resorts prior to parks? I'm trying to imagine how they would deal with all of the transportation issues. How do you social distance on the buses? The boats? The monorail? I'm glad it's not my job to figure it out!
