Resort Change by Disney

I am guessing DVC can utilize the Riviera Resort because they have not declared the entire resort yet for Member bookings... that leaves the majority of the resort available for Disney discretion.

When I was still able to modify my resort ( this was days after the announcement) the Riviera was the only DVC resort showing no availability. I have no clue how to decipher what that means. I’m on cash, not DVC.

I wonder what the odds are of club level being a thing? We're currently booked in a club-level room at Gran Destino and I'm wondering (if we're even able to stay there), how club will be affected? Maybe not open at all? Or just pre-packaged grab and go items? So many questions! 🤣

Riveria has lots of rooms as about 70% is still not declared. Both AKV Jambo House and Wilderness Lodge..CCV...has DVC in them and will be open sl regular hotel rooms would be an option I would think.

Also, Disney can take DVC inventory not reserved 60 days out, regardless of points, so as of today...they can snag as many July dates as they want,

And, nothing is to say that Disney isn’t considering this for anything more than the short term.

I could see them doing it for a few weeks to get the kinks worked out as all initial guests are centrally located, and then slowly open up other resorts,

The WDW site does mention resort closures could be in place in phased openings. So, it does seem like a logical and feasible thing to do as they work to get back up to full speed.
How does that work you say that they can take up to July from today, the resorts have been shut so even members couldn't book, now they are open members may want to use all the points they may lose. So if what you are saying is right members could lose points because Disney sold the rooms, this hardly seems fair.

My memory is very foggy and cluttered from reading too many threads the last few days. But if I remember correctly, the ability to make CL resort reservations was removed in the days leading to the total pause on reservations. I was considering upgrading to CL to surprise DD. When I went to check prices, the CL option for YC was not there. Then I checked other resorts and the same was true.

It's my understanding that club level services will not be available. If you've booked a CL room, then the upgrade rate will be credited back to you for your reservation.

Not sure if this is a positive addition to the conversation regarding DVC vs Non DVC resort reservations close to opening day or not, but....

We are APs booked with the general public Sun & Fun offer 7/25-8/1 at WL (Standard Room) and we received a carefully worded email from Disney about our upcoming vacation. It did not state in any way that our reservations are/were going to be cancelled. It went over some of the changes that were taking place: FP+, ADRs, EMH etc were cancelled.

It also stated:
"However, because you have valid Theme Park admission, you will have access to the Theme Park reservation system before new tickets are sold to other Guests. There's nothing you need to do at this time. We'll be contacting you soon with details on this new system as well as the process of making new dining and experience reservations. If you have previously booked experiences, you'll also be provided with first access to make new reservations.

We're putting great thought into helping you return to the magic and appreciate your patience.

At this time, while systems update, we are temporarily suspending all modifications. However, you have the option of canceling your entire reservation at any time."

What is in bold print above was in bold print on the email. Nothing there gives me the feeling that my reservation is going to be cancelled, but it also doesn't explicitly say that it isn't.

I got the same email on Friday. Our reservations are for December.

DVC has told members that they are giving up their developer points to allow for extension of banking windows, so I doubt they have DVC rooms to use.

100% agree. All of this talk about people being switched into DVC rooms rings false; Disney doesn't have the right to give DVC rooms (that could be booked by DVC members literally the same night) to people who they choose to move from another resort. if it turned out that DVC members could not book a room because it was given away to somebody without ownership that might be a sticky issue.
Actually they do.

People seem to be repeating the same point about not having enough room to move existing guests to DVC rooms -- am I missing something? (Actual question) Was something released where it was said that ONLY the DVC portion of resorts would be open and NOT the hotel side? If you're going to open up VGF, for example, why wouldn't they open the hotel side (at least partially)? Otherwise you're opening up multiple restaurants, stores, pools, etc with an enormous amount of empty space across the walkway. That seems like a waste to me... but maybe I'm missing something?

They told members they would not extend their expiring points. Nothing about giving up right to follow other rules

They might but they haven't stated that they are going to do that. the only thiings specifically announced have been the DVC Specific areas.

Since I started this with my info, let me clarify As I have done a very poor job.

Disney has shared with some TAs that Cash guests who have reservations at resorts that remain closed will be moved to an open DVC resort vs just being outright canceled.

It could be for a few days, a few weeks, or scrapped all together

Right now, WDW resorts like the Grand Floridian remained closed And until things beside DVC open up, if someone has a reservation anywhere but a DVC resort, you very well may be moved and not canceled outright because your resort remains closed.

Obviously, if Disney opens the Grand Floridian hotel side, then those rooms would be available for guest reservations and use of all amenities.

They might but they haven't stated that they are going to do that. the only thiings specifically announced have been the DVC Specific areas.

I guess I just have a hard time seeing a scenario where they open up VGF and not the hotel side -- correct me if I'm wrong -- but aren't the DVC rooms like 15% of total rooms? I can't see that being worth opening a resort?

At this point we don't know. All we know is DVC only is opening June 22nd. Nothing else has been announced to date.

Some resorts are all DVC and some are a mix.

What has been confirmed via DVC website, is that the DVC villas will be open, along with QS locations and restaurants, resort activities but in
limited form. as well as a pool. However it says there will be limited menus, etc.

What I have been told is that when DVC resorts open on June 22nd, the plan is to open one pool...if the resort is shared like BCV, VGF, Poly, etc..and it would be the DVC pool only..which does match with being told things would be limited,

At what point they will open up more things on the hotel side, is unknown.
