Resort Change by Disney

What has been confirmed via DVC website, is that the DVC villas will be open, along with QS locations and restaurants, pooland resort activities but in
limited form. as well as a pool. However it says there will be limited menus, etc.

What I have been told is that when DVC resorts open on June 22nd, the plan is to open one pool...if the resort is shared like BCV, VGF, Poly, etc..and it would be the DVC pool only..which does match with being told things would be limited,

At what point they will open up more things on the hotel side, is unknown.

That makes sense! I appreciate the insight!

Since I started this with my info, let me clarify As I have done a very poor job.

Disney has shared with some TAs that Cash guests who have reservations at resorts that remain closed will be moved to an open DVC resort vs just being outright canceled.

It could be for a few days, a few weeks, or scrapped all together

Right now, WDW resorts like the Grand Floridian remained closed And until things beside DVC open up, if someone has a reservation anywhere but a DVC resort, you very well may be moved and not canceled outright because your resort remains closed.

Obviously, if Disney opens the Grand Floridian hotel side, then those rooms would be available for guest reservations and use of all amenities.
Ah so this is why I'm seeing people argue about "upgrades". Has anyone actually been moved yet? I'll admit, I'd much rather stay at some DVC resorts over Pop/Caribbean, but I'll be bummed if they put me somewhere like Saratoga Springs.

I have no information I can share in that regard. Sorry

We are at all star music we’ve only stayed at all stars and POR once so I would be excited to get an upgrade...... I keep hearing people say not Saratoga though what’s wrong with Saratoga?

Saratoga is the biggest and likely to have availability.

For me at least, it’s the location. I like to stay at resorts that get me to the parks quickly. I love Yacht/Beach because I can walk to Epcot, and I’m excited to be staying at a Skyliner resort. It would be a bummer to know I could’ve just booked an all-star for way less money if I had to take long bus rides either way.

Again, I’d be careful about wishing for a DVC switch, if you’re 4 or less, you’re likely to get a studio. SSR sleeps 4, but 1 bed is a sleeper. OKW has 2 beds. If you’re in a value, those are the 2 most likely resorts. They really have no advantage over a standard room.

I love OKW, it’s one of the resorts we had for our trip. But transportation is internal and it’s slow. We never stay there without using a MinnieVan or Uber, and
I don’t know that Uber will be an option. We stayed at SSR once. It’s just too remote, and not our favorite. But these were 1 and 2 br villas, not studios.

If they do go with this, they have to have more expensive DVC’s for those in moderates.

Just saying, be careful what you wish for.

It’s one of 3 bus-only DVCs, one has animals outside your window and the other (Old Key West) has substantially larger rooms than Saratoga.

It’s also the largest DVC; I think there’s actually a whole lot of people who love it, but its so massive that there’s just more rooms than people who have it as a top choice.

But Saratoga is centrally located (kind of behind Port Orleans), walkable to Disney Springs (or it has a boat), and has to me a very pleasant aesthetic. You could do a lot worse.

SSR's easy access to DS and all the dining there would be a huge plus right now IMO. More pools and beautiful grounds to walk around too during the shortened park hours.

aha I think I might’ve seen these perhaps on my way to downtown Disney by boat from POR

Me: “put me in the room closest to Earl of Sandwich”
Them: “so you want Congress Park?”
Me: “I WANT EARL OF SANDWICH.”

We own at SSR but we’ve never stayed there lol. I guess I’d be okay if they moved us there but we booked ASMo cause we actually really like the resort. We love the refurbed rooms and the theming is cute. We would be just as happy to stay there.

I posted earlier about having two rooms and being worried we’d get the cabins at FW. I called to try to link our rooms and the CM couldn’t since the system is only allowing cancellations but she did say she’s not heard anything about putting everybody in dvc resorts. Said there are lots of blogs putting out rumors and best to ignore it all until we hear it from Disney parks blog.

I hope they don’t overcrowd DVC before the parks open. Without the parks keeping people moving around, Beach Club Villas at full capacity would have over 1,100 people around a pool the size of backyard in ground pool. Even a 10th of the hotel capacity could not socially distance around that pool. Limited resort restaurants would work there because there will be more people eating there without walking into Epcot or going to Disney Springs. There are already nights with no availability in Beach Club studio rooms/2-bedroom lock off villas during the odd time between DVC and parks opening. Beach Club Villas booked more solidly after opening of parks. This is just the one I’m watching because we are still hanging onto a reservation there.

I am going to speculate that any potential plan to move cash guests to an open resort vs canceling them outright is probably geared toward closer to park opening, when opening the rest of WDW resorts, under a phased plan, may not be possible.
