Resort Change by Disney

Again, I’d be careful about wishing for a DVC switch, if you’re 4 or less, you’re likely to get a studio. SSR sleeps 4, but 1 bed is a sleeper. OKW has 2 beds. If you’re in a value, those are the 2 most likely resorts. They really have no advantage over a standard room.

I love OKW, it’s one of the resorts we had for our trip. But transportation is internal and it’s slow. We never stay there without using a MinnieVan or Uber, and
I don’t know that Uber will be an option. We stayed at SSR once. It’s just too remote, and not our favorite. But these were 1 and 2 br villas, not studios.

If they do go with this, they have to have more expensive DVC’s for those in moderates.

Just saying, be careful what you wish for.

Yes, I agree. We are a family of 3 and now that DS12 is bigger (bigger than me!), he is really uncomfortable on the studio pull-out sofas. I read a rumor on here that if we are "offered" an upgrade to DVC, we either take it or we will be canceled. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I also do not want to be at SSR or OKW for the reasons you state.

I hope they don’t overcrowd DVC before the parks open. Without the parks keeping people moving around, Beach Club Villas at full capacity would have over 1,100 people around a pool the size of backyard in ground pool. Even a 10th of the hotel capacity could not socially distance around that pool. Limited resort restaurants would work there because there will be more people eating there without walking into Epcot or going to Disney Springs. There are already nights with no availability in Beach Club studio rooms/2-bedroom lock off villas during the odd time between DVC and parks opening. Beach Club Villas booked more solidly after opening of parks. This is just the one I’m watching because we are still hanging onto a reservation there.

Yes, I agree with this as well. I love BC and BCV, and I understand they would want to accommodate as many people as possible, but moving everyone from, say, non-DVC resorts to DVC resorts and their resort-side counterparts, I fear a very crowded situation - particularly BC where the QS is so small. Plus the rumor that they may not open SAB. I don't know. I've become very discouraged by this whole process (we were supposed to be there mid-March and are on our second reschedule as many others are - some more!). I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I worked at Yacht and Beach last summer on my college program as a children’s activities CM at the pool. I worked many near capacity days and yes the pool was busy but nothing too crazy. I wouldn’t worry! :-) with all DVC resorts open and small capped capacity I doubt any resort will be even near capacity!

We are not heading to WDW until late August and my husband and I have been going back and forth if we should keep our reservation. We are bringing my SIL for her first visit and are staying at CBR. My youngest, 10, loves the pull down bed and we really don't spend that much time in our room. My question is, If they are still moving guests in August what are the options for a family of 5 at DVC properties? The only deluxe we have stayed at was Poly and there were only 4 of us. We are usually at Pop or CBR and I know those resorts well, but I would like to start researching routes and such so I am familiar with the other possible resorts. Thanks

There are many DVC studios that sleep 5. Since you are already booked at CBR, if they do move you, I would cross my fingers and hope for Riviera! The rooms there are absolutely gorgeous (IMHO) and we really loved that they had pull-down beds (which we found very comfortable) as opposed to the pull-out sofas in some of the other studios. The nice thing about RIV for you (aside from being a new resort!), is it's right next to CBR and on the Skyliner, so hopefully, if you were moved there, it wouldn't impact your plans to use that mode of transport to get to EP and DHS. I believe the other studios that sleep five are at BWV, BCV, BRV, VGF and Poly, but someone more familiar with DVC may chime in with more info. They are all lovely resorts, IMHO.

I'm booked for Pop in late Aug./Early Sept. and just today I received an email confirming my Pop stay. So if nothing else, they seem to be currently planning on having Pop open at that point. I will be more than happy to stay right there, too, since we really like the idea of trying out a Skyliner resort. :)

Never mind. Sorry folks. I misunderstood the purpose of the email. I had heard that they would be giving out new reservation numbers at one point, and since both the reservation number and my remaining balance stayed the same in this email, I thought that it meant something more than just the removal of the dining plan. :)

I forgot about the Riviera and we just stayed at CBR in October. The other concern had been not being on the Skyliner route. Thank you!

Oh sure! I do hope you enjoy wherever you stay! CBR is so nice, but I think the DVC resorts are so lovely too!

interesting!! I am all star movies for late august and I didn’t get an email confirming anything. i’m thinking we will be moved to pop, and they won’t open the all stars, which is an upgrade in my book!

My worry is that Stormalong Bay May not be open in June.

I can see that concern! My thoughts are that stormalong bay is by far the biggest pool at that resort so there’s optimal space for pool furniture social distancing. Ill be sure to post if I see any of my lifeguard friends get called back to work! I totally wish we all had more clarity about these things but I know disney’s got a lot on their plate. I’m scheduled at the all stars in august and I don’t even know if/when those will open!

We are at ASMo beginning on July 25 and I've not received an email confirming our stay. I keep reading about Aug reservations getting confirmation emails and we've not gotten anything. Still showing in MDE so at this point, still planning on movies (which we love so that is totally fine!).

According to what I have told, the DVC villa pool will be the one to open when DVC resorts open. Other than limited features like QS an restaurant, hotel side amenities won’t be available at first.

Obviously, confirmation won’t happen until someone checks in or DVC officially posts prior to it what pool it is. TFWIW

IMO, by late August, I think we will see at least some of the WDW owned hotels opened back up.

Dis you have a dining plan attached that was removed? They are sending new ones to people who had a chance due to removal of plan.

Here is speculation as to why main hotel pools may not open when its only DVC. While DVC owners share in the cost of running the pool, it is based room occupancy or some level of ratio to cash guests. Since the hotel side is closed, opening of the hotel pools vs. just the DVC pool could an issue at the start.

We are August and have a split stay between WL and FW Cabins. We were not on the dining plan and haven't received a confirmation email.
:)

People who didn’t need reservations changed due to elimination of the dining plan would not be receiving another confirmation right now.

It has been reported that those that did will be getting them to reflect no dining plan. Because the WDW resort run hotels are still closed, those new confirmations are nothing more.

It isn’t an indication one way or the other if that means the resort will be open for your stay.

Since no announcement has been made as to when those resorts will open, all reservations are still in play unless Disney chooses to move you to an open resort or cancel you 7 days out if that resort remains closed.

What did the email say? I’m booked at Pop for July 17 and haven’t gotten an email. :/
