Window deposit ✅

We went with the kind old man at the reputable local company. I had to pressure him into accepting a CC for the deposit and then help him use his CC device with his phone 🤣 (it was some thing called “Vital” - similar to Square). I sort of wonder if he only wanted a check for the deposit because he was not sure how to process a card 😆.

But we are all set and I met an MSR in the process.

Hahahaha and of course congratulations on getting through an MSR!

Wrote a whole post on canceling Hyatt next week because of fridge delivery but it doesn't interfere. Checked my Costco account and the 'earliest' delivery is after my nights.

Still, I may change it around as I don't want to leave right now. Maybe I'll move it all to August. Seems school is going online again in almost all the counties around here. DC hasn't decided yet. That will probably keep the beach busy all fall, especially with the WFH folks. I checked some nights in October and the price is still on the higher side until after Columbus Day.

Daughter was all ready to put grand daughter in new preK. Other Grand would have to go to sitter as the 'new' prek wouldn't work for both. Old prek has changed it's hours so much it doesn't work anymore. What a mess that is. Lucky for her she has an actual sitter who will take both on whatever terms - old preK was 3 days a week last year.

But, the old prek was pretty special. I was impressed. Both flourished and younger grand blew me away - she's pretty bright. I'm sorry they can't go even with the reduced availability, but not enough to provide the transportation - I'm too far away at 45 minutes to do it twice a day.

👍 We just put a deposit on an attic fan and new insulation. Got a discount for taking over a spot someone canceled. I only had an Amex MSR, which they don't take, so I put it on a CIU. My Hyatt card is coming, so will meet that MSR in one fell swoop. And...now I need another new card.

No reason not to open up a Schwab account for that inevitable CS Plat now.

P.S. Remember to use a supportal for the Schwab One brokerage account as that’ll earn you a bonus if you deposit at least $1,000 and maintain that balance for 45 days. The supporter gets nothing, just the benefit of paying it forward.

OKay so to add to the vaca convo....

We are set to fly to NC, RDU, on Sunday. It's a rebook of the tickets I had bought for my 15yo and I to go to Buffett in April (which got cancelled). The forecast is rain (40-80%) every day. But the locals tell me it won't be all day or a rain out. So I guess we're going to go. We're heading to my happy place. Likely spend most the time on Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach. Might take the kids to Topsail and Carolina/Kure beach while I'm there too. I'm using my HH, and the stay 4 get the 5th free, on a Hampton Inn. So for the week it's running me only 80k! I plan on looking at some condos when I'm there. Then perhaps in the off season when prices drop again, I can look at getting serious about buying my beach house.

I'm with everyone else eager to travel. Dating a pilot in a pandemic is not fair! He doesn't want to travel anywhere on his downtime/my off weeks, since places are closing back down. He's heading to Vegas at the end of the month for training, and I wanted to go....but now I'm hearing they are requiring masks at the pools even! He's mentioned maybe flying down and joining myself and the kids in NC next week. I guess we'll see. He's met the kids a few times now. And they are okay if he joins us.

Have fun! Topsail is such a great place. My uncle built a beach house at the southern end in 1973 and my family has gone almost every year.
Do you ever go to the turtle hospital there? We also enjoy the aquarium down by Kure Beach.
No beach for us this year. We leave tomorrow for Michigan:car:

This came up earlier today on FM before DoC posted about it just now. You can now book Hyatt suites with points online.

This is big because it makes booking suites a lot more convenient. And the rates are still fairly reasonable. Many Hyatt properties abroad limit the number of guests allowed to like 2 in standard rooms, which is what’s available with awards. You can book a standard award room anyway and contact the hotel to ask if they’ll allow extra guest(s), but it’s ymmv and you may be told to upgrade to a larger room or suite. Never count on an upgrade with status alone, unless you’re Globalist with suite upgrade awards.

Costco shipping is all sorts of hot mess atm. My friend ordered an portable AC from costco and paid the 2 day shipping. it didnt show up until 2 weeks later. He had to call 2-3 times to figure out what happened.

the weird thing is 2 showed up instead of 1 and now hes just waiting for costco/ups to come back and pick it up. Its been a week, the AC is still at his place lol

General question about Amex offers: Are the newer ones always at the bottom of the list of offers, or do they just kind of stick them anywhere they want? There are so many stores I'd never shop at in a million years, and I spend a fair amount of time scrolling through to make sure I haven't missed one I might actually use.

They get stuck all over. So annoying!

I usually expand all offers and search the webpage for the name if I’m looking for something specific. CTRL+F is your friend on a Windows PC ;)

Is there a thread somewhere you can recommend for newbies to WDW? Do you think the "Disney World Tips" is the best place to start?

I know I am going to have to plan which park to go to on which day (what a terrible thought... ugh) and (as of right now) make a reservation for that...

I know I am going to have to make reservations for FP at some point...

I want to research the restaurants...

But I don't want to harass you all with my zillion questions that are going to come over the next few months!

Well... what else is there to talk about? You are on the DIS. If you want our opinions, I’d ask here on the thread. If you want General DIS opinions just start a new thread in the appropriate spot but you of course know that we are way nicer here!

Like a post-COVID planning resource? FP don’t exist anymore 😔 Only some restaurants are open, most have modified their menus. DFB has a lot of info here

Just know if whatever you’re reading was written before the second week of July 2020 it’s outdated info. Everything at WDW has changed so much. (Dining is now booked 60 days out so if your trip isn’t soon you can take that off your plate!)

I need some help! Dd has a great job with the City of Toronto this summer (she did her training today). She will be running a drop-in "Park Play" program in a local park. She has to come up with all the games herself and if she needs any supplies she has to ask her supervisor. It will be just her and 1 other counselor whom she hasn't met yet (hope she likes them!).

Any and all suggestions for socially distanced games (kids must be 6' apart at all times) that require minimal or no supplies are appreciated! Parents must be there, but she will be responsible for running the program.
How about charades? If the kids are divided by age, maybe Simon Says for the younger ones. My DD6 has really taken to that game lately.

I know. The reviews for delivery seem awful even when things were normal. But it's just not the companies Costco hires for delivery. I had 3 deliveries by truck from Home Depot for fence stuff and the company was inconsiderate to say the least. 'Final mile' shipping can be atrocious.
