Umm...I wasn't jumping down your throat here. Just clarifying. I just don't want people to think these are the entirety of what those states are getting in December/January.
I understood what you were meaning but then again that probably goes without saying that states will keep getting more doses as they are manufactured. We don't know how many shipments each state will be getting. California from what that other person said was getting far more initial doses than the two states this other person mentioned but California has a lot more people too and a lot more cases. Wasn't it 21 days or so in between doses? It's probably not going to be it for those states in december/january but hard to say exactly how many more people will be able to get both doses in december/january for each state.

Yeah this was more what I was thinking about.

Some will continue living in fear and remain uneasy without precautions. Im not sure they will ever feel safe.
Here are some numbers hot off the presses from Dr. Moncef Slaoui, head of Operation Warp Speed:

Total PEOPLE (not doses) able to be vaccinated by month in the US with current supply:

Dec: 20 million
Jan: 30 million
Feb: 50 million
I've heard the vaccination will be available to anyone by June 2021. If so is there really a need to mask up, distance or forgo social gathering? Where is the hazard to public health? Will TIIC continue to move the bar?

In my opinion, when enough people have had access to the vaccine, it is going to become VERY difficult for communities to mandate masks and social distancing. Especially if you have business (or whole industries) that require vaccines for access. For example, if I have to show proof of vaccination to go to a concert, I won't be wearing a mask.

I know that both Pfizer and Moderna included senior citizens and that all did well. Wondering what we know about truly comprised older individuals receiving these vaccines? Or do we not have much info on that yet. I only ask because I'm beginning to read about what to expect now that the vaccines are about to really roll out.

I'm seeing experts now discussing the "bumps in the road" that are inevitable as we literally get ready to vaccinate tens of millions of Americans per month. Hundreds of millions per month around the world. We are going to hear about adverse reactions, but must be smart enough to understand that these cases will be amplified exponentially by social media.

I have a feeling, that this is going to cause a lot of people to want to wait to get the vaccine. Which will make it possible for those of us willing to get vaccinated....to do so sooner than later.

I think the opposite could be true though: people see that their friends and relatives who've gotten it are doing fine and they will be more comfortable themselves. People CONSTANTLY ask my wife and I (well, just her now) how we're doing, how we're feeling. I mean literally daily.

Good point. I just worry about Facebook...etc. By the way....how are you guys feeling....lol. 😉

Wouldn't it be great if we could just turn off all social media (leave message boards as we are outdated ;) ) for a few months and let just authentic, true information be given to us by those who know?

Problem is no one would trust anybody.

Oh 100%. Sadly, the genie is long out of the bottle. And you're right....message boards like these are quaint.

You will absolutely not be able to get another vaccine while in their study. It would make your presence in the study completely moot.

Yeah, I just found that out. Although, they did also tell me that I can voluntarily withdraw from the study at any time if I want to get an available vaccine.

Well my governor just had her conference and said approximately a total of 150,000 doses by the end of December (would include that initial shipment).

Yes, the states know exactly how much of the Pfizer vaccine they're getting. It's based purely on population.
Yeah I was speaking about the december/jan timeline that got brought up and that we don't know how many the states would be getting because my governor just finished her conference about an hour before I commented. I would assume my governor knows that information I on the other hand just found out :) :)

Same...our Governor told us last week I think. 👍

I'm not sure if anyone posted this, but this is good news. CVS has a contract with the Federal Govt. to administer the antibody cocktails to patients in nursing facilities...and in their homes. This was a big hurdle with this therapeutic. It's an I.V. infusion, and normally that needs to be given in the hospital or an infusion center. But we don't want to bring Covid positive patients into infusion centers, where there are typically patients receiving chemo, or dialysis...etc. And if we can treat them away from hospitals altogether...that's a big deal. Really hope this works!

I have to say, all of the progress that has been made in such a short period of time is amazing. I remember back in late February/early March just starting to become concerned about this virus but I was living my normal life. Now one year later, we're working to eradicate a worldwide pandemic and on our way to bringing things back to how it was just last year.

With previous pandemics, this would have been years before we thought about going back to normal. Science and technology are incredible things.

Ok so this is my logic on vaccine distribution and of course it will probably be all wrong. In NY the governor who I guess no longer feels the need to personally approve the vaccine announced we will be getting 170,000 doses in the coming weeks. Those are reserved for health care workers and nursing home residents. I absolutely agree that vaccinating health care workers is number 1 but if we vaccinate the nursing home workers (and they continue to wear masks) then why don't they prioritize the seniors living in the community? The nursing home residents would be at a lower risk and seniors living in the community would be a higher risk. Part of my thinking is that personally my 78 year old father lives with us and with 4 kids in their late teens/early 20s (3 of whom live with us) I want them to be able to live their lives again and I want my father to be able to get out - he is driving me slightly crazy( as I teach remotely). Is my thinking that flawed on this??? Just wondering if anyone else has thought about this.
