'Ohana at the Polynesian reopening on July 9th

I have a coconut allergy and they can not accommodate it, as everything has coconut in it, and offer no alternatives... so it's off our list.

Did try once a long long time ago, when it was Papetee Veranda ( that's as close as I can remember to the name) , and it offered island inspired dishes, along with other options... been a really long time, I do however remember my Dad getting like a teriyaki steak of some sort, and I am pretty sure that there was some type of chocolate lava cake, that we shared...

Take this for what it's worth on the fireworks but there's rumors that they are going to restart fireworks July 7th. Not sure why they would skip the 4th other than that fireworks show is probably way more expensive than the others. Maybe they changed their plans, I first heard that about 2 weeks ago.

I don't care about the menu, people havent even tried it yet, and they're complaining. Give it a chance first.
People who liked 'Ohana went there for the meat and shrimp skewers; that is what they served. Now they have gotten rid of the skewers, making it a different restaurant, so people are unhappy.

I ate kielbasa my whole childhood life. I'm done. I used to always get the shrimp skewers, I do not want a bunch of bready casserole instead. Don't need to give it a chance to know they messed up.

I'd expect they are avoiding the 4th to avoid a covid cluster. The 7th may be far enough out of holiday territory

Lapu lapus are now $18. Add tax and tip.
On our last visit, we got Lapu Lapus from Kona Cafe. It was good, but the running joke between my wife and I is that they take a pineapple rind out of the trash from the Pineapple Lanai downstairs, fill it with ice, pour half of a Bahama Mama into it, and then charge an extra $5 for it. :joker:

I know. It seemed like the hollowed out area of the pineapple wasn't as big as I expected. It's like a small/regular drink in a showy container. 1 & done.

Noodles are probably in the shrimp casserole...

Although shrimp casserole is just a tragic item...shrimp should have stayed out of "casserole" form...it probably means they are going with a smaller or lower quality shrimp where you'd notice the difference...

Right..."shrimp casserole" sounds extremely strange. I want to know what's in it and if the flavors work together.

But I also dislike shrimp.

Nooooooooo that was one of our two planned sit down dinners. It's an every trip for us 😭

Ok so there are 14 pages, to many to go through. I think I may be ok with change however I will definitely miss the shrimp and noodles by can we talk about the bread, why for the love of god did they have to change the bread, the biscuits just sound like a fancied up version of red lobsters. Oh and what about the chimichurri sauce with the chicken, I hope they allow you to not get it or at least have it on the side.

i don’t have to try it before I complain, that’s not the point. And believe me, I have drank the Disney kool aid. The point is this administration seems to be actively looking for ways to charge more and give less. Look at the menu. No way the new substitutes are anywhere near in price or quality of what we had previously, but the price is the same or perhaps more.
Unfortunately I think most will just go anyway, pay the price, and Chapek will see it as a success, cause we’re suckers, and will look for the next item to chop.
I agree, look at what they did to Cape May Cafe. It used to be AYCTE crab legs, now it's an additional 29.00 for just a pound.
