10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

Today was my 60 days for arrival on 9/29. I was only able to get Tony’s at 2:30 and Skipper canteen at 7:45 in the MK for 2 people on 10/1, that’s pretty much all that I could find. I did see one Crystal Palace pop up, but we didn’t like the post covid version when we are there earlier this month. I wanted to have lunch and dinner ADRs just to guarantee a place to sit in calm, and have a drink ( plus eat of course). I wanted them both earlier, like noon and 5:30, but took what I could get. I might have to cancel the 7:45, though, even if I don’t find another one because of fireworks. I set up a ton of alerts through mouse dining, so maybe something will come through. I usually have great luck with that, but given less reservations available and the actual 50th, it might not happen this time. I would take any restaurant at the right times lol. I thought about walking to the CR, but slightly nervous about getting back in even with a park pass. DHS on 9/30 was similar, nothing at all st most places. I did get a HBD for lunch, not a thing at Sci fi which is what we wanted.

Interestingly, but not surprisingly, if I flipped the days (DHS for 10/1 and MK for 9/30) everything was widely available . Just confirms everyone is doing exactly what we are, including Epcot on 10/2. Luckily Epcot has enough restaurants that getting an ADR wasn’t bad. It’s gonna be an interesting 3 days. I’m not expecting to ride much, but I hope I can at least get some of the merch without missing everything else and see the nighttime shows without saving a spot all day. I don’t have to have a great spot, but would like to actually see something haha.

Today was our ADR day for the first part of the trip, anniversary weekend, and this was also my experience just now as I booked for the 1st. Nothing available in the park even with the usual tricks (changing the number of guests etc) so I snagged my backup choice of Grand Floridian Cafe for 11:50a. I’m setting up alerts as well. Tbh if we end up keeping this ADR we will likely Lyft back to the Dolphin from there for our midday break. Leaving will assuredly be the move for us anyway as I’m sure that will be about the point crowds start to get unbearable. I am not worried about getting back into the park tbh. Even if they don’t let us back in, I’m cool with taking it easy the rest of the day instead. We have no goals or expectations for that day other than to maybe try to get a piece of merch and soak in the atmosphere, and we have literally 2 weeks to enjoy MK.

Hah! We did that too - set up Grand Floridian for 11:15. Figured, can get out and back via the Resort Boat before 2 when they let in park hoppers.
I have a couple reservation searches set up for 10/1 that will start tomorrow to let me know if something opens up. I've had great luck with it before, even getting a Californian Brunch reservation with it.
We're going into HS on the 2nd, no problem with that reservation, or Epcot on the 4th.
But I've got a damn Split stay :( so I forgot I was going to have to get up for the 2nd resort and do this again on Wednesday. :/

I'm up early this morning searching for SOMETHING in MK for 10/1. It will be nice to have a time to sit down and eat something and have a little calm and quiet in air conditioning. Nothing so far.

Ha, we’ve got a similar schedule! 10/2 our plan is to rope drop HS for Rise (I’m queen of BGs and have mastered getting low ones) and a couple of headliners then do a late breakfast and bounce back to the Dolphin to chill the rest of the day, we have a couples massage booked at Mandara at around noon. We were not able to get Topalino or Cape May but lucky enough I was able to find Hollywood & Vine which works out even better!

I feel you on the 2 ADR days for split stays being a pain…our second window opens up on Tuesday for the longer part of our trip, at the Poly.

This morning I couldn’t get anything in the park so snagged a Kona adr. How do you set up an alert?

There are several sites that will do it, some paid some free. TP is one that's free, most others are not allowed to be mentioned on here, but can be found with a simple google search.

+1 (or rather +2 :) ) for the Grand Floridian Cafe lunch on 10/1 (11:25 am for us) as well. It may be nice to take a break midday elsewhere and also stroll around the GF and get a break from the crowds...we don't have a lot of expectations for the weekend other than to soak in the atmosphere and get a few rides in and just have fun--longer trip in December. Feeling pretty fortunate though for what I did manage to snag.

I initially had booked GF as well, but just changed it to Whispering Canyon. I had done GF so I could just walk back and forth, but I've been eyeing that bison burger for a while and feel like this would be the time to finally try it. Though I do have alerts set up and would prefer to stay in the park if something pops up.

I thought the bison burger was at Geyser Point.

I couldn't get anything at MK for 10/1 this morning. Will set up an alert I guess. I considered going out of park but want to hold off for The Wave to open up after I see their menu. My biggest shocker was trying to get Sanaa for 10/2. Nothing was coming up. I finally went straight to the Sanaa page and checked there and only got one after I put in a ressie for 4 - its only me. But I am glad I got it. I elected to do AK on the 2nd since everyone else was after EP

Disney just announced that the new fireworks spectacular, Enchantment, will be at 9pm on 10/1.

Am I the only one who's getting worried about FL? They've opened up the flood gates on park passes but the way things are going I'd say there's at least a chance they may have to reintroduce distancing and lower park capacities. What would happen to park passes in that case?

A lot can happen in 2 months and literally no one here can answer your second question.

I know - I was shocked (and a little disappointed) that they opened up more park capacity for 10/1. I'm curious who gets bumped if they have to reduce crowd size - latest booked? Last to arrive? Non-resort guests? I'm guessing they will not allow hopping into MK for the first.

Well, at least some of us will (have to) cancel, so that's already part of the equation. I have a feeling the next two to three weeks will be critical.
