We opted to test at the 48 hour mark and it was good that we did. Our flights were late leaving LAX. We had the Westjet direct to Calgary. Was to leave at 1:15 but didn't take off until after 3. It was delay after delay and we didn't clear customs or confirm negative tests in Calgary until close to 8 PM. I don't know if they were checking on the timeframe or just the negative result. Westjet definitely checked the timeframe in LAX at check in.
I actually checked the Westjet website last week to see if delays affected the 72 hours and according to them as long as it's within 72 hours of 'scheduled departure to Canada' you're good. I would imagine that would have to still be within a reasonable amount of time though!

We are in DL right now, have been since Friday night. It’s amazing here! The crowds are lower than anything I’ve seen in years! We went to city hall in Anaheim yesterday and did the 1 hour rapid NAAT test. It was incredibly easy. We ubered over, cost 8$. There are signs right on the front lawn directing you to the Covid testing area, which is all outside. It’s to the left of the building. There are 2 lines, one to register and one for those already booked. There was no one in line when we got there, and 3 when we left. They ask for your booking number and ask to see id, then you go stand by the area they will test you in. One person was ahead of us here. There were 3 technicians doing the testing. All super friendly, explained how the test would work, and directions to check our email in an hour. The test was no different than rapid antigen test, in the sense that they didn’t go any deeper, but they did 10 circles in each nostril, which I think was more than the RA.
Then we were done! We went to the Vons across the street to get groceries then got an Uber back to our hotel. My wife got her negative text and email while we were in the Uber -35 mins later- and I got mine back at the hotel, about 10 mins after that. So both under the hour, which was great!
I printed the test results out at the hotel to have with us, as someone posted here that having a paper copy was easier than pulling it up on your phone.
We took yesterday off to work and deal with the tests and do laundry, and now we’re heading over to California Adventure to do Webslingers! We have number 28 boarding pass, so should be about 9. The crowds are really quite lovely right now! We’ve had no problem getting into both virtual queues each day, which means you have to have your first boarding pass scanned by noon so you can get your next one. That pretty much says it all!
On Sunday ROR broke down so we left the line before we got scanned. I checked with a cast member and as long as you leave before you’re scanned, you can come back any time before they close (if it stopped working during your call back time). If you’re scanned you need to stay in line or they have no way of knowing that you haven’t ridden. So we went back at 7 that evening and was only a 10 minute wait!
Thanks to everyone for posting in here about the testing process. It was super helpful for me in planning our trip, hearing what others had done. This place really is the best source of info for DL travelling!!

I echo your comments on low crowds. We really enjoyed ourselves. The trade off was fewer dining options. When using Mobile Ordering or walk-up - the menus were reduced to fewer options. For example if you like to eat at Alien Pizza Port you don't have the extra beverage options or extra dessert options. Just streamlined and simplicistic.

Disney enforces masks when indoors. Knott's has no masks anywhere unless unvaccinated but they don't ask for proof of anything. Universal was masks indoors.

Yes, they’re very good about firmly reminding people to have masks on in all indoor locations. Some people do take them down off their noses while in indoor lines when there are no cast members around, but I’d say 95% of people are really good about it!
And yes, mobile ordering is really the way to go right now, it’s strongly encouraged and is so easy to use. But yes, I’m seeing that too, that there are reduced menu items. It’s a price I’m willing to pay! It’s Soo good to be be here!!

A little off topic but are you able to use gift cards on the app for mobile ordering now? I haven't been for a few years and last trip it wasn't an option.

I only used the CC attached to my account so I hope others have an answer for you.

Yes, absolutely! That’s how we’re paying for all our mobile orders! Super easy. The only glitch is the app won’t save the gift card number so we have to enter it each time.

I have added a new option to the poll.... $125 for a 3-5 hour PCR test @ LAX Terminal 6 outside. I know it is a little far from Disney, but none the less, an option. We are in Anaheim now from Oct 6-15 and plan on doing some things right in LA 3 days prior so we are leaning towards the $125 test at the airport. Results in 3-5 hours which is better than the risk of not getting them in time. https://www.flylax.com/travelsafely

This is a great thread! I'm going 14-18 October and I have HIGH anxiety about this whole new process. I'm double-vaxxed and I have a ton of great masks.

I'm in BC, so everything is super expensive anyway. I can get a test prior to departure in Victoria, but I was wondering if getting a quick test at YVR would be better? Does anyone have experience with that? Our whole family is going to Aulani for Christmas and Hawai'i only accepts results from trusted partners, one of which I think is at YVR, so if we have time to get tested there prior to our departure (3 hour layover so probably?) it might make our lives MUCH easier than what is my current option.

I am also very concerned about getting a test for the way home. I have a few questions about the City Hall, as I think that may work best for me based on prior responses.

1. I've never used Lyft or Uber (I'm not a huge fan of their business model nor getting into a stranger's car alone - big trigger for me), so a taxi would work as well, yes? Anyone ever take a cab?

2. Do I need to book in advance for City Hall or should I just wing it and hope for the best?

3. I leave on the 18th so was planning on taking the test on the 16th. I could ask for either the PCR or for an NAAT test, correct? Other than price and response time, are there any other differences? The PCR goes deeper than the NAAT? Any other specifics I need to ask for?

4. Do they accept credit cards or cash? Either?

5. I'm flying West Jet, and may not have a chance to print out the results. Will showing on my phone be good enough?

6. I'm booked with ArriveCan for coming home. I'm flying into YVR then onto YYJ later that evening. Are things clearly marked for arrival for those of us already registered and vaxxed?

I think those are all I have right now LOL. I'm trying to alleviate my anxiety over this whole event because I miss going SOOOOOO much and really want to get into the parks.

Hi. We are in BC as well, leaving from YVR. (Oct 1-15).

We have pre-booked our Antigen tests at Integrated Medical in Port Coquitlam. (This was on the BCCDC website). My boss lives on Vancouver Island and is going to the UK on Oct 11. I was looking around the island today to help him try to find a testing location as the UK has similar entry rules as the US does. We could not find anything reasonably priced at all from Nanaimo to Victoria. I am not sure why it is so much more expensive over there.

I have used both Uber and Lyft in Phoenix while down there for Baseball Spring Training. (I am the Asst GM of a ball team that plays games vs MLB minor league teams in March). I have never had an issue with either. The drivers have to meet a certain standard. The first time I hopped into an Uber, I was hesitant. After that first ride, I cannot imagine ever going into a cab again.

In regard to the test @ City Hall through Covid Clinic, you can prebook and pay via credit card online. Before we made our decision to test at LAX three days prior (We are seeing the Lakers play the Golden State Warriors on Tue Oct 15 so the test at LAX made great sense), we were looking at the NAAT test as results would be same day. The test at LAX is 3-5 hours, through a reputable provider, is only $125 vs $199 @ City Hall, plus we are seeing an NBA game at Staples Center!

From what I have seen, showing the email confirmation on your phone is ok.

This will also be our first time flying with the ArriveCan app. One of our Asst Coaches flys into LA once a month and showed me how to use it. It looks very simple. You show your. receipt to Customs and then you are on your way.

Like you, we cannot wait to travel in Oct. Our trip is pretty insane:

Oct 1 - YVR to San Francisco.
Oct 2 - Watch SF Giants vs Sand Diego Padres
Oct 3 - Watch Seattle Seahawks play San Francisco 49'rs
Oct 4/5 - San Francisco, Muir Woods, Sausilito
Oct 6 - Drive from San Fran to Anaheim via Hwy 1 (Coast)
Oct 7 - Disney
Oct 8 - Chill day with the dogs at Huntington Beach then going to the comedy mecca of LA, the Comedy Store
Oct 9, 10, 11- Hollywood, Beverley Hills, Griffith Park, Santa Monica, Venice Beach
Oct 12 - Test Day & LA Lakers vs Golden State Warriors @ Staples Center
Oct 13/14 - Disney
Oct 15 - Fly home

Thank you! There’s a place on Burnside in Victoria that does testing for I think $165. The one at Cassidy airport says I shouldn’t use them for international flights because the test gets sent to the mainland and if the weather is bad they can’t leave. So their suggestion (and I’m not making this up) was that I go to Vancouver 3 days before my flight and get tested there, then come home and await the results and then fly from the island. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around this idiocy.

I’ll try to find the name of the clinic on burnside.

If you are doing the 1 hour NAAT test, be wary if you are doing this the day you fly out. We were at Anaheim city hall yesterday and my husband was doing the 1 hour test. After 2 hours he still did not get an email of the results so he went back to find out the status. Their email system was down and they have no way to print out the letter of test results. They do not have printers at that clinic.
There were a number of Canadians all flying out yesterday waiting there super stressed because they had no test results. That is technology for you and can happen really anywhere. My advice is to leave a cushion of time for those things that can happen out of your control.

This was on another thread and I can't find the post now??
https://covidtestcourier.com/They came to someone on here right to Disneyland hotel! $149. I am going to book this service! They come as early as 7am!

This looks amazing. That being said, can you please let us know how this goes? I am not sure anyone has heard of them before and if this is legit, they are going to be overrun by travellers!
