And, my dishwasher died. Knew as soon as @punkin had her problem, mine would be soon. New Years Day. Happy New Year to me!

According to youtube its probably the thermal fuse. If I were a brave electrician I would probably pick one up, under $30 and install for the short term. But I'm sort of apprehensive about electrical wires even those I know are disconnected. Its over 10 years and it is white. I'm ready to have the color somewhat match my other appliances. Was not interested in the Samsung models although so far I love my Samsung fridge.

It will be replaced and I ordered one, but delivery won't be until mid January, so I'm going out to buy disposables today. Not even a lone paper plate in my house!

I'm going with another Whirlpool for a bit over $800 (mid range tax included) with 47dbi =relatively quiet, stainless tub, 3 racks, etc. I can't stand my daughter's Bosch models. Don't like how they load. I ordered through Costco so install and install parts are included in that price, despite the horrible install reviews. My fridge install was excellent and those install reviews were horrid also.

The feature I needed was for the handle to be flat/not exterior sticking out. Fortunately my spot has all the install features necessary so no electrician needed for advance wiring, etc. Last time I had a plug in outlet added, plus the correct water lines are there and the floor extends under the counters, all stuff that are extra costs in old houses, but we did all that back in 2010 (I think it was, or maybe 2008) when we moved our kitchen to another location in our house.

Meanwhile, we will have to wash dishes, but maybe I'll check with a neighbor about the fuse and get it tested at least.

So you see the option to "split your payment" but then it errors? It might be a security issue, like you alluded to because of the delivery address. IDK if chat or calling would help? I had a bad chat last week, but a helpful phone call.

Thanks. Yes. I enter the second payment and it tells me I need to call. I think it is Dell not liking the mismatch on the address.

For Biz cards, you need a separate login. You'll need to set it up and then if you log in to the same Chase app, you should see a tracker for your SW Biz card. I believe there is a way to merge biz and personal cards into one login but it requires a call to Chase. We have 2 personal and 2 biz logins (1 of each for DH and myself) and I can log in to any of them on the same app, no issues.

Thank you! I figured out my login and am able to view the tracker now in the app. I'm okay keeping them as separate logins since it'll help with my business tracking.

Older daughter took a short trip to the Galapagos 2nd week in December, last month.

I just finished searching the pictures she sent me, but many of the good ones contain people pictures.

They flew from Guayaquil to San Cristobal on Latam. Stayed in a $49 a night Hostal Romy. Clean with local food, nice fruit and water and coffee in the room, and owner and family onsite, plus acceptable wifi. Not posh, but in order to make travel funds meet, DD will go from one end to the other. If I remember correctly she used either UR's or just booked on Travelocity. The owners were really nice, even offering to pick them up at the airport, which was in walking distance, but it's pretty warm there being equatorial. DD also speaks the language so that makes it easier.

While on the islands they saw Galapagos turtles, swam with sealions, took a boat trip with dolphins following the boat, and for my benefit, took pictures of many blue footed Booby. And a few other creatures.

Culturally they experienced a parade of locals dancing in colorful costumes. I haven't asked her if it was a festival or just Saturday night hijinks in town. Or something to draw tourists.

Most of her pics were short videos so I can't really share, but they show lots of wildlife and wild terrain as opposed to developed resorts. Several beaches with just a few people enjoying the fine sand with sea lions lounging around.

Overall, this was a very short (3 nights) budget visit and she would go back and stay at the Hostal. She really enjoyed the area and may be getting more nature oriented (like her Mom) as she gets older.

We talk several times a day via WhatsApp when she's out of the country. Works great!

Editing to add:

Flew on Spirit from Dulles BWI to Fort Lauderdale, then on to Ecuador. Long layover in between flights.

Wow! Cool pictures. Thank you so much for sharing. Galapagos has been on my bucket list for a long time. Really looking forward to going at the end of the year.

I feel like I need to recap... between my work computer randomly not working great with the dis in mid 2020, and 2020/2021 not being the most exciting travel years I've not been posting much. Most of our 2021 travel was to Uni with APs since it was easy. Did our Winchester Mystery House day trip and I went home 4 times :rotfl: which was great after not visiting and I'm at a point where I do really miss the area. I switched jobs in 2020 so I no longer work every dang weekend! We used some of the points cashout options to do home projects in 2021 - did I mention we bought a house at the end of 2020?

Early 2022 plans so far: I'm hoping to get in a weekend trip somewhere for me and Zack, another trip back home, and more house projects for this...

Congratulations to you and Zack

Since there's been many new people joining over the last couple years who may have missed some of @SouthFayetteFan 's semi famous Fireside Chats, and questions about Chase pacing are always popular, I've dug up the original post from v2.0 where SFF outlined what is known of Chase's bust-out risk assessments and best practices to avoid looking like a risk.

https://www.disboards.com/threads/i...t-page-for-addl-details.3729982/post-61161429
Now keep in mind this was written 2 years ago so I don't think SFF is still "eat sleep and breathing Chase pacing recommendations" like he used to (I'm betting the golf score has suffered a bit since then too ), and Chase may have tweaked their algorithms a bit, however, the thought process behind the guidelines still stands. If you understand the rationale behind it, you can make more informed decisions based on your personal stats and risk tolerances. And, as always, can always run your thoughts past the group here for second opinions. There's a lot of experience here to take advantage of.

Ultimately it's your credit and relationship with the bank on the line, so I would not judge anyone for being overly cautious... or overly reckless for that matter. My risk tolerance is going to be different than others in the group and that's ok. If I say I'd go for a card and someone else doesn't, that's cool. But at least the decision was informed by what we know of Chase's logic.

How does award travel work with cancellations? If I use my Chase UR to book airline tickets, will the points be refunded if I have to cancel?

Depends if you mean using UR's to buy tickets through the Chase Travel Portal - these are like cash tickets as far as the airline is concerned, so will be treated per the airlines policy. IME, you will most likely get the opportunity to change your dates, or get a future travel credit - but not so likely to get a refund unless you booked a refundable fare class.

If you mean transferring UR's to airline loyalty programs, and then purchasing award fares - I believe most airlines will refund the miles for award tickets canceled, but again you will need to verify with the airline policy concerned.

We just went through this! I had booked through the chase portal with UR points. We cancelled due to COVID, we were not about to "cancel" without losing what we'd paid. Instead I had to rebook and pay the difference between fares. Hopefully COVID will be calmed down by our travel dates in August.

Happy New Year!!

2021 was OK for us with travel. We didn't make it to Europe but I'll blame that on COVID. I made great use of my SW CP, I was one of the lucky ones who got it extended and had it almost 3 years.

Here are our 2021 points trips:
March-Hawaii on SW points
June-Hawaii on SW points
June- Palm Springs SW points
July-Disney on SW points and using DVC
July- Puerto Rico on SW points
August- Oregon on SW points
October- Tucson to visit family on SW points
December-Tucson on SW points

I desperately need to earn a CP again but apparently I'm in Chase card jail. I'd love some advice on how to get out and earn a CP by May.

Here are my stats:

3/24
CFF 9/20
AMEX plat 1/21
CSP 7/21

Other cards I have that are older:
Chase: Disney, Freedom Unlimited, 2 Freedoms. - that makes a total of 6 Chase Personal Cards I also have a CIC and CIU so 8 Chase cards.

I had a SW Plus card that I cancelled in December. I tried to apply for the 100K offer on the card but was denied because it said I already had the card (too close to closing it I suspect). Then a few days later I applied for the SW bus card hoping to get started on earning my CP, I was denied for that with the reason "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us"

Please help! I obviously didn't do a good job prepping my portfolio to put my best foot forward. My credit score is 800 so that shouldn't be the problem. I see inquiries for when we bought a new car in July and the credit card apps in July and December.

Please give me some tips for what to close and what to do to try again and when to try again. May is my target date for the CP.

I’d try applying for the SW business card again once it’s been 31 days from your last Chase application. The last business card denial was due to you applying for it too soon after the personal card application

How are your CLs with Chase vs household income ?

Oddly, I have a banner message on my Chase personal account telling me I should use my SW cc perks. I only have a SW Biz card, no personal card.
I think this chase telling me they're good with me applying for a SW personal card.😏

I got the same thing, No personal SW cards... Almost hit the logout button thinking I had the wrong account. :badpc:

Regarding personal cards: You have to wait 30 days after closing the card to apply for the new one.
regarding biz card: I would just wait 30 days after your last application to try again for the Biz card.

The Chase CC rules are:
Biz card- 1/30
Personal- 2/30

Once you had applied for the SW personal, you are started the clock that made you ineligible for a Biz card until 30 days later.

This is why it is always recommended that you apply for the Biz card 1st and then the personal card.

Good luck once you hit day 31 from applying for the SW Biz!

Thanks everyone for the advice about my SW application issue! I'll wait until after the 31 days and try again.

We had an exciting morning with cancelled flights. My 19 year old DS was flying to Denver to ski for a week with friends. We booked him a ticket on SW points. He woke up at 5 am to a cancelled flight. There were no options to switch to on SW out of MKE or Chicago until Tuesday! I was able to get him a one way flight on Frontier for $325. It was kind of painful but I knew how much he wanted to go. Hopefully SW will be able to get him home on Friday.

This is our second SW cancellation in a week. We were cancelled going to Tucson last week. I was able to switch us to a flight to PHX and they sent me a $250 voucher.

Crazy times to be flying!!

Decided to buy myself a peleton with my 2020 vacation time I’m getting cashed out this week.

Now the real question is if I use my csr for 10x UR or the southwest cars we need to spent $15,000 on….
I'd definitely go for the 10X on the CSR. I bought mine just before that offer and was super bummed that I missed out. Hard to get that many URs outside of a new cc.
