Walt Disney World is pausing new sales of some of its annual passes.

Accm, I noticed no one had addressed your question, so I gathered a couple posts from people who were able to do that.
Thank you. We called, and unfortunately since our son is already 4, they said we couldn't get him one. I'm hopeful they'll go back on sale before our trip in January.

Yeah, I think they allow it for children newly aged in only. Good luck!

I’m a DVC member here now and made the mistake to not buy the Sorcerer pass back in September. We have 3 more days we wanted to park hop this week. Before I buy park hoppers any speculation ok if passes may resume as we start the new year?

Our passes expire in about a month. Will have to stop by Guest Relations next time we visit the parks. Fortunately we are local so its not a real hardship to do so.

You should be able to renew. Even if it’s an old pass to the new ones, it’s considered a renewal. We had to pick up DH and DS renewal cards for Incredipass on the day that they stopped selling all but Pixie. I had called to take care of it before hand. They were confused and tried to sell us new ones.

If you buy the Pixie Dust pass and then want to upgrade to one of the others that’s currently paused, can you? I’m guessing no, but it never hurts to ask.

Any word on AP’s coming back?
I called again to ask if they'd make an exception for our son (they said no), and asked if they had any idea when it would be coming back. The CM said they hadn't heard anything yet.

Minor correction: The Sorcerer pass for DVC and FL residents is blocked out for Thanksgiving and Christmas, not for Easter. Caused some problems for people who bought Gold AP vouchers before the change, planning to activate them at Thanksgiving. Disney solved that by giving them hopper tickets for the blocked out days.
I was one of those gold pass renewals. In fact, I was told by the phone CM, “Congratulations, you are one of the very last gold pass holder renewal.” Verified, again because my whole family is still original gold pass renewals, and didn’t want to be blacked out when they could go. Activation is when you go to the park.

We showed up to surprise my GD on her birthday after Thanksgiving. Well, the surprise was on me. CM insisting I should follow the sorcerer black out dates, because that will be my new pass when they issue them again. They gave me a number to calI.

Did we have fun? Of course.
GD brought her Elf on the Shelf in a plastic bottle, so not to touch it.
She had more conversations with people about that, than anything at WDW, and she knows her Disney. Most were remembering their own Elf.:lovestruc

The new AP ticket structure makes it impossible to book DVC at 11 months, unless everyone buys their ticket at the same time, but that’s a thread of it’s own.
Wonder if that’s part of the WDW plan to buy back DVC, since they are getting huge revenue booking for cash.

When you renew your AP, does the activation date start at renewal or park entry. If I renew September 19, 2022, is the AP active 9/19/22 - 9/19/23? OR, I renew 9/19/22 but do not go to the parks until 12/21/22 making my AP active 12/21/22 - 12/21/23.

When does the activation date begin on RENEWED APs. The date of purchase or the date on entry?

Your new expiration day will be a year after the original expiration day, regardless of when you activate.

It starts the day after your current expiration regardless of when you next enter the park

That is just renewals right? If following old rules a new AP does not begin its expiration until you go to guest services/enter the park for the first time, correct?

APs being on hold are killing me because we're trying to plan a trip for end of March and then one again in December and I would really, really like to buy AP tickets for the year! Or at least have someone tell me they won't open up until the summer so I can just go ahead and buy regular tickets.

Can you go ahead and buy regular tickets for the first trip so you can make park reservations, then if APs are available for sale again you can apply the cost of your tickets to the APs?
Lucky you for having 2 trips!
