Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

I am hoping for an opening at YC for our September trip and have been stalking the website everyday. Just thinking, is it worth checking multiple times a day? Anyone know if the room availability is updated in real time?

I see the room available at rack rate but it’s unavailable when I search with the discount. I would think as it gets closer to the date maybe more rooms would be added if they are not selling at the normal rate?

I hate to say it, but if it's available rack and not a discount, then I usually go ahead and book it (assuming it's for dates/a resort/room type I don't have much flexibility with). Disney doesn't typically add more inventory of discounted rooms later on to fill resorts, or at least they don't do that to any large degree.

When I'm on the hunt for a room/resort or to modify a reservation if a discount happens to pop up, I usually check once a day (in the AM over coffee and DIS). Anything more just starts to drive me nuts. :-)

Hope you find what you are looking for!

Welp I have no self control and I guess answered my own question about room availability in real time.

I had WL standard - king CL booked for my trip and when I searched for the same room/date it was sold out. I then switched to YC standard CL (full price 😢) but WL still shows sold out, so they do not update in real time.

I’ve always assumed the “catch and release” of YC rooms, including discounts, works a little differently as it’s a convention hotel with blocks of rooms being held back, but no real evidence to support that…

That doesn't work for me. I'm too cheap to pay rack rate😆

I've held a convention at WDW for the past 18 years, including the one I have this year in December at GF. Thirty days before my event they release any of the remaining rooms from my block, which goes back to the general public to book. Last year I sold out 725 room nights at CSR. This year I have 790 room nights at Grand Floridian, which I pretty much guarantee I'll sell out. If not, I'll try and offer to the Disboard folks. My contracted rate at GF this December? $251 per night.

Saw some CR CL news, FWIW. This happened once before a few months ago, not sure what this one is all about but I’m assuming it’s probably fit/finish/countertop type items (don’t take that as fact, just my guess).

As we celebrate Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary, we have been refreshing Disney’s Contemporary Resort and are so excited to share its retro-modern feel, incredible new rooms in our iconic tower, new artwork and spaces in our lobby and fully reimagined dining at Steakhouse 71.

We are still putting some finishing touches on The Tower and Atrium Club Level Lounges, which will be unavailable June 27-28 and 29-30, respectively. To ensure your stay is still special while the lounges are closed, we will be providing you with breakfast offerings inside California Grill, a credit to your account upon check-in and a variety of complimentary snacks nearby.

Any guesses as to what type of refurbishment happens over a couple of days?

The only thing I had specifically heard was that the countertops were delayed and what was installed for the Sept reopening was temporary. I thought that had maybe already been addressed in the prior mini closure but I'm not sure. The cabinet knobs had been changed between visits last time I was there (kinda random). I got the sense supply chain issues and such impacted a few things. Note that could just be CM chit chat and not all correct, but seems relatively reasonable.

We enjoyed our recent Poly CL room. I've long been a fan of Poly CL TPV rooms. As my kids have quickly lost interest in Enchantment (and I'm mostly in that camp too) I have to question the value of a TPV room for us - but no doubt it provides for one of the best overall views of any resort. The wow factor and having the Seven Seas Lagoon always in your view never really gets old.

There are some things I miss about the old rooms, but I'm a fan of the new rooms. Just so clean, crisp, and fun. Plus extremely practical use of space. Tons of storage and places to unpack / put your stuff everywhere. I do have trouble not bumping into those end bed stools in the dark though.

I like the new TV setup, but I do miss the old channel with park info and music. Nothing beat turning that on for background noise. The Poly homescreen here is an endless repeat of drumming that sounds like it could be on the Jungle Cruise soundtrack somewhere. I don't love it, but I'll get over it.
IMG_5676.jpeg

Mini beverage fridge. The note warns "Beverage cooler cools to 41 degrees and above." This particular one made a bit of a gurgling noise at night. Mostly a non-issue but may bother really sensitive sleepers.

Robes but no slippers. Why this is inconsistent across CLs is a never ending mystery.
IMG_5694.jpeg

So much storage.
IMG_5692.jpeg

I think it's sort of funny the luggage holder survived the renovation.
IMG_5693.jpeg

Relatively no frills collection of toiletries at Poly, no foot scrub or things like that. I thought the complaints about the clear glass shower were a little nit-picky but having stayed in these rooms a few times now (and with kids that are getting older) it is perhaps a little awkward, I admit. DD misses the tubs, but I like the shower better. There are towel hooks to the right off the pic but I wish they had put some on that other wall too - with four people you need more places to hang things, IMO.

I posted awhile back about how Mousekeeping was really, really good this trip. Daily early cleanings and really friendly CMs.
IMG_5698.jpeg

A lovely view. The Poly background music is at such a great level on this side of the building. Crack the balcony door and you can easily hear the lovely tunes. Just love it.

EWP one night. Oddly quiet show music for some reason during our visit, like really low. Maybe when the new DVC tower is built they'll finally back the EWP up more towards GF so the first few floats aren't cut off by the bungalows and you can actually see the full show from multiple spots. :-)

Pretty nighttime show view. Fireworks audio continues to be fantastic these days from this location.

I posted earlier about strollers and such in the hallways. Like most I've seen an occasional scooter or two in my WDW travels but can't really recall the hallways being storage for so many strollers. In fairness it peaked one night then the other nights it was just one or two around.
IMG_5801.jpeg

Or dirty towels. :confused3
IMG_6043.jpeg

I have always tried to keep a pretty firm 'mind my own business' attitude with Disney and CL. I'm sure I'm no saint and have probably done something or my kids have done something that made someone feel a certain way without realizing, so who am I to judge. But just seemed like several things this trip - whether that one time with towels in the hall, no shoes in the lounge, no shirts in the lounge, strollers in the lounge, grabby hand little ones, etc. Ivette, Irv, and some other pre-COVID CMs used to be really quick to keep order on some of those things in the lounge, new CM crew seemed more passive in that regard.

Anyway, I'm really being nitpicky and these were certainly moment in time situations, not constants - that's important. Just observations.

We are booking for Poly CL for April '23. We definitely want Hawaii building, ground floor. Our 2 granddaughters will be with us and we would like to stay fairly close to the beach, but not necessarily a TPV. Just close enough so the girls and I can head out at night to the beach to watch the fireworks. Anyone have recommendations?
TIA

Thank you for this!

IMO booking a Lagoon View room and requesting first floor will do the trick. There are LV rooms on the other floors too but most are on the first floor so the odds are in your favor that you'll get first floor (not guaranteed, but reasonably good chance).

Hope that helps!

I move the first bench to the connecting door side. Which then has me moving the garage can but is very doable. Bench still usable but at nite much better for my knee/ leg. Or perhaps it was the wine I had which made me get up too much in the middle of the nite and then bump into it. LOL

And I forgot to say thanks for all the pictures. I can hardly wait until Sept. I could not decide between garden or lagoon. We normally book the cheapest when staying club level. But gee - all the pics from everyone on the lagoon side made me choose lagoon.

It seems like the logical place for a full length towel rack would be next to the shower. The remodeled rooms at the WL also lack towel racks. The hooks are fine for holding a small hand towel but worthless for drying a bath towel.

GADisneyDad14, I hope you don’t mind if I supplement your photos with some from our Polynesian Club Level stay in March. We had Garden View on 2nd floor.

Not sure if this has been posted up thread i’m rushing out the door right now no time to read back in the thread.. KtP has just tweeted that Club level services at the Contemporary are undergoing a brief refurb at the end of June. Tower Club lounge closed June 27 & 28th. Atrium lounge June 29 & 30. Guests affected should have received an email regarding the closures.

Guests being directed to California Grill for some amenities, but partial credits being given suggest not all perks will be available

Not sure if the link is allowed but the info is on twitter.. posted about 30 minutes ago.

We were at BWI a few years ago and a father and son came to the lounge each day in their socks, and put their feet on the table while they used their laptops. I did complain. CM said, 'nothing I can do'. :sad2:

Just drink more :smickey:

ps it's weird that you have some CM's that are so proactive and others who are just impotent. Spin the wheel, take your chances at the House of Mouse.
