Is anyone there right now? If so, how are y’all surviving the heat? We arrive Sunday and I’m worried.

Also, are the high temperatures affecting the crowds in any way? I’m trying to find some positives for our trip lol. This trip has been planned for a year and it’s hard to not be super disappointed. . .

At least you aren't arriving today or tomorrow.

Yesterday, Main Street in Disneyland got up to 101. Today and tomorrow will be similar. Sunday and Monday are forecast to be over 100 as well. Tuesday will be back down to low 90s and then upper 80s the rest of the week.

It's going to be very difficult to be in the parks.

If you don't have them yet, get UV umbrellas, cooling towels/hats and fans of some sort. Do NOT go without these items or you will be absolutely miserable. The tiny silver lining is that it's also breezy in the afternoons so at least the air is moving, which will help if you utilize the cooling towels to keep your skin damp.

We’re headed down Sunday for a trip we’ve been planning for a year as well. We have our cooling towels, cool dry t-shirts, water cups, bottled water and cooling fans packed. We went during a heatwave in 2015 and learned quite a bit. We take two backpacks with us into the park now- one filled with frozen water bottles/ice packs and one with our cooling fans, cooling towels, more water & regular park stuff. The heavy one goes directly into a locker (that gets visited at least a couple of times per day for water refills). We make sure we have our large insulated water cups packed with ice and water as well. You don’t have to bring in that much water (you can ask for it at most quick services places) but I am not a fan of Anaheim water. The heat is tough but, even during epic heatwaves, we’ve had a magical time.

Don't be discouraged, you'll still have a great time. We hit a heat wave back in 2014, 103-105° every day 😯, and I still look back on that trip as my favorite ever! The heat really keeps the locals away, crowds were non-existent. Bring along tons of water, try every frozen drink in the park, and take a nice long break in the afternoons. If you're in DCA and need a break, ride mermaid on repeat, the AC/darkness combo feels soooooo good when you're overheated.

FYI, you never have to taste Anaheim water at Disneyland. You can refill bottles with ice and water at numerous self serve soda fountains around where the water is filtered/tasteless:

DL:
Rancho del Zocalo
Alien Pizza Planet

DCA:
Pyms test kitchen
Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta

Inside GCH:
Craftsman Grill

In addition, when you ask for ice water from CS places, it is also from the soda fountain

Flo's V8 Cafe is the only place that gives out large 20oz cups of ice water. On hot days, they have cups lined up and ready to go at one end of the counter.

There are also water bottle refill stations around, but that water DOES have a bit of a taste to it. I avoid those unless I'm desperate.

Super helpful-thanks! :)

Award Wieners also gives out the large-size cups of ice water. 👌

During our September 2016 trip it was 107 and humid. Not my favorite trip but we made it work!

Definitely bring cooling towels, portable fans (ones that spray if you can find them), a hat, sunblock and make sure to HYDRATE!!

I had also wished we each had a change of clothes during that trip. Being able to take an afternoon break that included a cool shower then fresh clothes would have been great!

All the water attractions will have LOOONNNGGG lines so be prepared! Take advantage of other air conditioned areas. Pizza Planet outdoor seating by Space, Space, Indy, Pirates, Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln, Tiki Room are ones I can think of in DL

In DCA, Animation Academy, Turtle Talk, and that whole area actually, Mickey’s Phillharmagic, Disney Junior Show…

We were there September 2016 as well. The humidity on our days was horrible and it was about 100ish. I'm wondering if we were there the same time. We were there last October and it wasn't humid but it was upper 90s and I was miserable. I swore I'll never go back in September and will only go the last week of October going forward. Hopefully I remember that when I start second guessing myself in the next few years.

I had to sigh when I saw that Splash and Grizzly had a longer wait time than Rise and Webslingers this afternoon! We got here mid-afternoon and it was hot! (I am worried about tomorrow and Sat, to be honest). At least it’s nicer now (but it’s also almost 10 pm).

We got medium ice waters at the Plaza. Lots of ice!

Good luck and stay cool! Silver lining is ride wait times looked pretty low the last two days.

Is Figment going to be trying some of the new Halloween food? 😍

enter for rope drop.
head back to hotel by noon and enjoy the pool, nap. etc
come back after 6pm.
Dang that’s a lot of lost value on the price of a ticket. I could see doing that if you were a frequent visitor and would be back soon but not if I was paying the full price of a short term ticket.

If you have one day at the park you are more than likely not going to be staying nearby. So the break strategy won't work.

For the nearby hotel guest who is most likely visiting on multiple days, that break strategy gives you about 10-12 hours in the park.
Which should help make a long day feel easier shorter. Especially when the weather is going to be in the 100s.

During our July 2019 trip we used the animation building at DCA a lot to recharge in some AC.

Taking care of your feet is super important too as you will sweat! I reccomend body glide on your feet and a change of socks in your park bag. We also use a camel back bag with water.

The other thing is taking care of your devices. If you are in direct sunlight they will overheat and shut down. Mine shut down in a food line once because I was trying to use it at it got too hot too fast.

I'm also in the take a break crowd. I understand the losing of park time, but if you are miserable it doesn't really matter. We hit rope drop hard, and then during that 2-5 times we usually duck out for the pool.
