Where would you live if money was no object?

No amount of money would make me want to live in California or Texas. Also who voted for Baltimore???????

I would probably choose somewhere in Germany but if I had to pick somewhere in the US I would stay where I currently live.
I get the California and Texas situation. Unfortunately, I'm a native Californian and this is home, and I will put up with the ban on gasoline powered cars and natural gas appliances, and paying to get your gas tax refund from a debit card instead of just suspending the tax at the pump or direct depositing it and all the other nonsense.
And Texas, well my wife grew up there. The cost of living is so low there, it is tempting, but at least her family has lots of issues getting decent healthcare. And when you are 65 or older, you start to really care about good healthcare.

Porbably right where I am, though I'd fix it up a ton. Also, I'd have me a vaction home at every Disney Park - hey, money is no object, right?

I'd have 2 homes. One in New Mexico, which I could actually have now except hubby is the issue. Georgia boy born and bred and he ain't leaving. The other one would be in Palau. The issue there is you have to be sponsored by a citizen. We had a sponsor about 15 years ago, a dive master on a live aboard we were on that we became friends with, but lost touch. It has nice weather all year round, rarely if ever gets typhons, the people are friendly and as of 15 years ago, actually liked Americans. And bonus, the diving is great.

These results make me think the respondents need to get out more.
Agreed!
Also who voted for Baltimore???????
No one voted for Baltimore, that's how I know this poll is false :rotfl:
But I do love Naptown
Yeah, who would have voted B'more over there?

As for the OP's question I've got to say I'm pretty happy where I live in MD but I wouldn't say no to a nice apartment on Castle Hill in Budapest.

I was thinking somewhere over on the Space Coast. Close enough to WDW to go when you want to and I have plenty of time and opportunity for my softball hobby.

I honestly think I'd keep my current home, buy a waterfront "cabin" at the closest nice beach area, and do lots of traveling. I'd want my home base to be the same place I've lived for over 25 years.

I had a FB troll harass me yesterday because I said I only wanted to live in Japan or the US. I even said it was my opinion, that others obviously could have their own. She kept questioning how I could be making an educated opinion so I explained I had lived in 3 countries and 5 states and had traveled many other countries. She still berated me. It was so odd. I hate FB and need to just quit it.

Anyhoo - I would like to be on the NC coast, but not OBX. Probably Oak Island or Emerald Isle.

The problem with Hawaii is that even if you have money, it takes hours and hours to get anywhere else. I've always said I would love to live in Hawaii for 6 months, but not permanently.

My dream location is somewhere that is warm, on the water, and I am a West coast girl. So my ideal spot is one of the Southern California beach communities. But even that is harder now due to fires, mudslides and other climate change effects.

There is a little more to this. The survey specifically queried those that actively moved during the year 2022 (firewall), and it was mostly questions about their satisfaction of the moving process and new locale. This may explain why the destinations are not particularly exotic. Baltimore isn't much more of a head-scratcher over Atlanta as #2, or Dallas and Las Vegas, none are exactly HCOL or exotic.

There is probably more to it than "price is no object". I believe the people answering were NOT listing dream destinations, but places maybe where they think they could realistically get the COL, work/life balance and/or career they desired if they could afford the housing price.

If we are only talking US, I would keep my current home as a vacation home, and would live permanently in New England, perhaps Vermont or New Hampshire.

If we open it up internationally, it’s difficult to pick. Probably somewhere in the UK would be my first choice, one of those big rural homes with lots of land. However, since I hate to fly, and my vacation home is in Florida, perhaps Canada would be the more practical choice. I like Montreal and Quebec City a lot, so something within a reasonable drive to those cities would work.

If I'm being honest with myself, I would stay in New Jersey but move somewhere else. I would just like to live alone again and be in charge of and make decisions for my home. If we're going international, I would live in London, no having to even think it over. I fell in love with London when I was there in 2001.

I would buy an amazing home right in the area where I live. I love my job and family too much to move anywhere else.

Coronado is about the best you can do. Perfect weather, on the beach, plus close to a great city with nightlife and airport. Still a small town feel. Oh yes 20 minutes to major league baseball
We lived just up the road in La Jolla for six years. Perfect weather, lovely beaches, great restaurants. It was our La-La Land.

DL with the kids every MLK day.

Lahaina Shores Beach Resort condo, Maui, Hawaii,
I will also dock my yacht at their dock.
Dec 1 to May 1

I like Spring , Summer and Fall where I live -Hate the winters
