I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Thanks so much. I do keep a spreadsheet. I started almost 2 years ago with a CSP/CSR MDD and got that advice on here. I'm 4/24, Barclays will put me at 5/24, but then I'll drop to 3/24 in June since it'll be 2 years since that MDD. Will probably get another CIC at that point (that was actually the plan for getting rn until I realized I needed the AA miles first).

Since the AA Barclays just needs a single purchase, I wonder: is it ok to apply to that and Citi on the same day? I want to get started on the MSR with my May bills!
I'm going to keep better records going forward. I didn't think I would keep this up for so long. Are you opposed to business cards? Barclay and Citi both have them and you will maintain your 4/24 status.

Nope, not opposed to business card, but the personal Citi card had a better bonus. If approved I'll be be 5/24, but only until June when I'll drop to 3/24 so I didn't mind getting the personal card. I applied and it's pending, hopefully just needs verification.

Now, I hope the referral for CIC stays elevated because I want a second one if we can get 75K + the 40K referral for p2 in June!

I've been scared off the Citi AA cards for several years after the scare several years ago. Decided to try for the Citi card with the higher SUB today and was instantly approved. pixiedust:

AA is typically our second choice of airlines with SWA decreasing their schedules form Chicago to RSW over the past couple of years. Nice to get some AA miles.

Thanks for the DP! Sounds like you're 1/6 inquiries.

Decided to try my luck and instant approval! They pulled Experian. 2/6 inquiries, 1/24 and 0/12 new accounts, 0% utilization (lol).
Also instant approval, pulled Experian. Don't know my stats, lol.

Thank you for posting this update- I hope you're around all week! 😁

For those who don't have any near term plans, I would still grab these. In my experience the guides I've purchased never expire and they get updated with the app updates. You never know when you'll find yourself on one of these trips!

LOL! I think Sunday is the last one. If I remember to check, I'll post it here.

Good to know they get updated with the app updates! I've just been grabbing them with no concrete plans. I think the e-mailed link might expire same day, so I get them saved into my Shaka account.

I'll be on 4/24 on June 1 and 2/24 on August 1. I'm not sure what my strategy is going to be I'll just wait and see what card is offering what on June 1. I really like chase cards and would really like that 5-night Marriott offer if it's still around in June. CIC is definitely on my list.

AA doesn't start necessarily start low on miles and gets higher as it gets closer to the departure date. Sometimes you'll find the best deals just a week or days before departure. I literally just booked our flights home from Zurich for May 20. Last year I changed our flight home from Paris a week before for fewer miles.

You might get the best deal months in advance or days in advance. You have to check the website daily. You can cancel and rebook. AA is my favorite because you can hold the flight for usually 2-5 days depending on the destination.

I like SWA for short flights I'm not a fan of the boarding process I like choosing my seat.

I'm thinking about getting into the United Cards. They have a lot of partners in Europe. We are flying Swiss Air from FCO to ZRH for 6.600 miles I thought that was a pretty good deal.

The public offer seems to be gone already, but I got a targeted offer by e-mail.

URs transfer to United, so I find that the CIU/CIC is better in terms of SUB/AF compared to the United cards. The nice thing about getting a United card though is that you get expanded access to awards. If you get a personal one, after a year, you can downgrade to the no AF Gateway card and keep the expanded access.

Near Monterey, Point Lobos is very scenic. Watching a sea otter tapping away at the oyster on its stomach is one of my favorite memories there. We've also done kayaking tours at Elkhorn Slough near Moss Landing (look for discounts on Groupon or Travelzoo).

On the way to Solvang, you can visit Hearst Castle and see elephant seals at the beach nearby.

In SF, the Exploratorium is fun. I used to take DS there. Stop for lunch at the Ferry Building. The Musee Mecanique with old arcade games is fun to poke through if you happen to pass by (free to enter).

Have lived in the area most of my life, but never been to Alcatraz! Keep meaning to go one of these days lol.
Thanks! DS is a gamer, so he'll probably like those arcade games. 😁

Huh. I'm unable to get DH's Hyatt card expedited. SM'd 3x. First 2 I thought I just asked too early. Approved Monday, saw the 5 elite night hit his account yesterday so SM'd again. Still no. Even though the Hyatt account's obviously been verified. Okay, I give up lol.

If it's personal can you add it to a digital wallet? I was able to add my Marriott to Google once it was in the app. Got the card wed after approval last week Monday. So a week and a half.

You can go through the booking process and then place them on a 5 day hold. I think domestic the max is 3. Its free but you need to purchase the flights by midnight of the departure day of the departing cities time zone or they will auto cancel. If flight leaves from London than midnight London time.
Good to know!

Thank you! I totally forgot about that!

I had forgotten that I have a Quicksilver card... considering adding my younger son to that account (as opposed to the Freedom since my older son still uses that one).

Is there anything I need to know about adding an AU with Capital One?

Also, good news! Just got an email saying my Citi AA application was approved! No idea why they needed to review, maybe just to verify information. I also got a ridiculously high credit limit of 20K, lol

Now I should think about whether DH should get the card also while the SUP is elevated, we can definitely swing the spend on both. But he had an inquiry more recently, a CIU in February...
