I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Anyone book (hold) a car w/ Priceline? Are they cool like Costco and don't care if you don't cancel your car rental reservations? The flight to Vegas on Tuesday is oversold w/ 1 person listed above the BF and I. So I'm looking at going in on Monday. A rental car through Costco would be $230, but via priceline it's $150!

Went to look at MacBooks for my daughter....She's luckily willing to hold off until I get a new CC. The flight times for my NC trip flying non-rev through MYR are kinda crappy. So I was just looking at the AA miles. It's a little higher than I like to spend (25k) but I'd get more beach time. So I think I'll go ahead and try for the Citi Biz AA card so I get the free checked bags, LOL. I wanted another AA card anyways.

Just chiming in about Carnival. We prefer them to other lines. I love the variety of included food options over the other lines -especially the Mardi Gras/Celebration and Upcoming Jubilee.
Glad to hear you like Mardi Gras as that is what I have booked for "free". I'm still waivering on paying $400 for my 18yo....but I guess it's still a pretty cheap vacation overall.

Not a Priceline question. It would be up to the rental company you booked with if it's a pay later rate, if it's a prepaid then you aren't getting the money back if you no show. I've heard that some of the rental companies are putting cancellation and no show fees on now to stop people from having six different reservations like they were a couple years ago. You'd have to look through the T&C's of your rate.

I booked a new Christmas Market trip for December (I have training on weekends in October, November & early December so can't be away more than 2 weekends in the fall).

Dh had a SWU that was due to expire on July 13th (can't let that happen lol), so I set to work to find a fare to Europe with a seat that I'd be able to immediately upgrade. After diligent research I found a flight to Paris on November 28th in economy for $580.00 including tax. I had ~$400.00 in credits from AA in my account, which I was able to apply to the ticket; I called and the CSR was able to immediately upgrade me to biz class. I'm really loving SWUs (though it can be difficult to find fares to Europe with seats that can be upgraded upon booking). When I was in dh's account making the booking I noticed that he is now Concierge Key -- no idea when he qualified or if he'll keep his status come September (it's renewed every quarter).

I was able to book the lovely Dress Code Hotel in Paris for just over 300 Euros / night including breakfast, which for such an amazing location in Paris is a great price (rooms are "compact", but suit me perfectly). Since I don't want to fly home from CDG again (from what I've read on FT it's still an unmitigated disaster), I decided that I'll take the train to Frankfurt (just over 3 hours). I will stay in Frankfurt for 3 nights and take the train to the Christmas markets in Rudesheim and Mainz.

Coming home I was able to book a seat on AC direct in economy class, latitude fare, then applied 11 eUpgrades and got a confirmed seat in biz class (72k APs instead of 122k AP for a biz class seat).

I accidentally applied for 2 Hilton biz cards (1 for me and 1 for dd -- both instant approvals -- I meant to apply for the basic card for dd). Had to pay a property tax installment, so was able to almost meet the spend on 1 of the cards. Will complete the spend on mine and hers when I buy ds his new car (late next week/early the following week -- I'm disputing the amount offered by the insurance company, so it's going to take a bit longer to settle). Will most likely apply for the personal card for dd early next week; I can make the MSR in the blink of an eye (sadly). That will give me 3 FNCs, so thinking about using them in either Anguilla or Cabo. Not sure yet.

Marriott makes this really easy to book in the app. Once you select your dates, it will say something like, "Would you like to apply a 50k certificate?" or some type of toggle to apply them. Then it will show that you're using a certificate + X number of points. Some people will book each night individually, as rates per night change (in the event you wanted to stalk for rate drops). You can also just book all 5 nights consecutively with the certs.
thank you!!

So you can apply for the Hilton biz and then the personal card with very little wait time? Is there a hard and fast rule for Amex cards? I've been thinking about the Hilton FNCs but haven't pulled the trigger..

I was planning to “help” my DS22 apply for a Bilt card and then have him use it to pay for his rent AND DD20 rent as well so I’m very interested in the answer to this question as well. My plan was to have him apply to avoid the hit to my 5/24 status. But I never considered that the lease might have to be in the name of the cardholder. In which case my plan wouldn’t work.

I do have a Twitter account so I could msg there if you haven’t heard back from anyone with an answer yet, @DogCat . Have you heard anything?
I received an email response from Bilt. Yes, we can pay the rent expenses of both children but not the same month because they only allow one rent payment per month.

Thanks. I'd love to hear more about it. I tried for F but was told that the flights from here to LHR never sell F for points (maybe that wasn't true? but they definitely had nothing available when we booked). I'd be much happier in F or even in the new J but when we booked none of the flights here had the new J so I just went with the A380 for the novelty of being on the second floor. I'm not sure I'd buy points because we seem to have a lot of MRs right now but it's always something I consider.
I seem to never have enough MRs or Avios, LOL. I blow through them so fast. 4 people in F will do that! They do release awards in F, but they are definitely few and far between and sometimes last minute. I did 1 person, 2 people, and then the final person so it helps to have everyone on separate locators. It's a PITA otherwise to split tickets, etc. I'm gold with BA now though, which is huge, so I get a special phone number and I can open up any seat to an award for double avios as long as there is a seat on the plane. I do like being on the second floor. I know there is one plane that has tons of storage on the second floor in J, but I guess that isn't the one you were on?

From what I read online, 5 days between applications. Not sure if this is accurate -- will let you know when I apply for dd's basic HH card sometime next week ;)

I saw that Macbooks are going to be on sale for Prime Day.

Trip insurance help. My wife is going with her mother to Hawaii in January. My MIL wants trip insurance primarily for medical transportation if necessary. Anyone I should look at besides insuremytrip.com and Allianz? I'm seeing $333 from Nationwide from Insuremytrip and $429 from Allianz, does this seem in the right ballpark? MIL is travelling on a cash F fare.

Secondary, thinking about picking up an annual policy for myself so I'm covered while travelling O.P.M. and my Sapphire insurance doesn't kick in. Does anyone have one of the policies from Allianz? $140 for something that is going to cover a hotel on a misconnect or new business clothes if United loses my bag again seems like a no brainer, is there something I'm missing?

Great, thanks, so it doesn’t need to have the name be the same - cardholder and leaseholder? Sounds like that will work for you. I’ll probably still have DS apply but not sure about my daughter’s college apartment. She’s 20 and doesn’t quite have the income to apply I don’t think. I’ll have to think about it. Maybe just use her rent payments for ink MSRs. I never did msg on Twitter but sounds like we have the answers we need.

Yes the cardholder and leaseholder do not have to be the same person. They specifically said I could pay my child's rent for an off-campus college apartment. As far as paying my other DD's rent, they said it was up to me which rent I wanted to pay each month.

Question -

DD applied and received a CIU in April. She will be a P1, since we are no longer living in the same household. Her sister is living with her now that she graduated from college and may be her P2 one day once she gets a job.

It is time for a new MSR (for me). I was thinking of having her apply for a new Chase card (as her new primary card - it is currently Discover), maybe the CSP through the Doc 80K SUB link (I just checked and I think it is still live). I would help her with the initial MSR. I thought it would be better to keep all her points in the same rewards family.

What do you all think? Any other suggestions? TIA.

It seems like getting TSA precheck is faster than Global Entry, right? Any chance of getting either by November?

FYI, she applied tonight and got instant approval for the CSP through the Doc link for 80K.

Without a doubt TSA precheck is easier and faster to get than GE. We had ours back in 2 weeks after we applied. You don't have to do an interview like GE, just go to take fingerprints. But it won't help you with international travel like GE does, only domestic.

We got our TSA precheck within a week, so quick turnaround time. We don't have Global Entry as finding an appointment has always been a challenge for me and we haven't travel internationally yet. You might get lucky and have appointments available near you.

GE is only worth it if you fly internationally. TSA is easier to get, only takes a couple of weeks.
We just came back through DFW and the regular passport line was only about 20 minutes, so not really saved that much time. Although the GE line had no wait. We all walked right through, didn’t even need our passports.

I'm 1/5 but I PC'd my CSP (48mo+) to a CFU. Does the CFU count as 2/5 now or am I still 1/5?
