Does anyone else hate they keep going back to the same restaurants?

There are also restaurants I like that I haven't gone back to for a while. Jungle Skipper Canteen is one of them so that is on my must-do list for May as I really enjoyed it when we last dined there. It was probably in 2018 mainly because DH doesn't like to do MK but I've roped him into it at least for dinner.

I’ve always wanted to try skipper canteen but my DH and kids are so picky, they’d never find anything there to eat. That’s another reason why we tend to eat at the same places, I know they all will find something to eat there. Id like to try Skippers canteen, Tiffins, yak and yeti and Morimoto, but my family’s not that adventurous. May just have to tell them next trip to suck it up and deal with it, we’re branching out of our comfort zone lol

The fish plate at Skipper Canteen is beyond delicious, the curry one as well.

We used to always do the same restaurants and then said to ourselves we are trying at least one new restaurant every time we go. As a result we have had some great meals. For example we always had Topolinos, Story Book Dining, Flying Fish, and many others were restaurants we always had reservations for then ended up canceling to go to our old favorites. Well once we decided to try new every trip we had some great meals at these places. So now we still try something new every trip

This appetizer is absolutely delicious. Mrs. wabbott has made them for me a couple of times.

The "It Tastes Like Chicken" and the "Hardy Har Char" Siu Pork" are pretty nonadventurous for most. It's been a while of course but the Char Siu Pork was soooo good.😋 Very tender! They also now have a Fried Rice and a Cachapas appetizer that look very good. Too bad they don't serve the Punch Line Punch anymore. That was nectar!

There are restaurants I really like that I haven't gone back to for awhile also. Jungle Skipper Canteen is one of them so that is on my must-do as I really enjoyed when we last ate there.

I think for our upcoming April trip, we might try Tiffin's. We've done the Tusker House recently and were impressed. Also, 'Ohana's, which we've not been to since about 40 years ago.

You know, I saw the thread title and thought that we were in that same camp but then DW and I started talking about it and really, the only ones we go back to every trip are Raglan Road and Be Our Guest for TS. If you include QS then we always hit Docking Bay 7 in HS, Satu'li Canteen in AK (sometimes twice), and Columbia Harbor House.

Raglan Road is one that we both just genuinely enjoy. I don't think either of us has ever gotten the same entree twice but we always wrestle with it because we have never had one we don't like. We do, however, get the scallop forest appetizer every time, and occasionally even a second appetizer, too. We tend to be very reasonable at home so we splurge a little when we are on vacation.

As for Be Our Guest, we were lucky enough to get a reservation on our first trip shortly after they opened when it was all but impossible and I guess the sense of urgency for that one just never left even though we can both admit that the quality of it has definitely declined. It is a small but fierce point of shame that my mother swears to this day that the steak is one of the best that she has ever had, lol.

But while we do have restaurants that we go back to every few trips, we were surprised to realize that we actually do a surprisingly good job of changing things up most trips. We have been to Rose and Crown multiple times, or Yak & Yeti, California Grill, Coral Reef, Le Cellier, but it is seldom (not never) that we go to one of them two trips in a row. That said, we did go to Le Cellier in March and November of 2022. March was our first time there and we did genuinely enjoy it. November, we were there on Thanksgiving day with DW's sister and her family and it was their first Disney trip, so we wanted to go to a nicer place but still in the parks for dinner that night. DD, who was only 3 and a half at the time, stole DW and I's shared bowl of the cheese soup and to this day reminds us of it (DW and I fondly tease her about it and there is a picture of her eating a spoonful in one of her vacation picture books that we made) with glee.

But in our last 3 trips we also went to 13 different restaurants for the first time, which surprised DW and I when we went back and really looked at it.

We are definitely the type that has one TS meal a day and look forward to them. We come up with a list of places we want to eat and then go through menus to narrow down our choices, then have a list for ADRs based on priority. Whether you go to the same places every time, a few favorites, or almost never repeat, do what makes you happy, it's your vacation.

We're trying Tiffins for the first time. I've wanted to do that for years. 'Ohana has been on my list but I look at the price and always remove it. I just can't bring myself to pay that much. Close to the cost of a Signature is just a hard no for me. DH has wanted to eat there in the past but I feel bad because I always talk him out of it. :hyper2:

We tend to visit every 2-3 years. I have family members with food allergies so pretty much eat all meals at TS and usually stick with our favorites but there are other ones we alternate between every trip.

I'm planning a trip for April and while jotting down the places I want to eat, I came to realize it's the exact ones I had for my last trip!

Boma, Sebastian's, Boathouse, Ohana, etc..

I keep wanting to try new places but have had such good experiences with these ones that I want something I know I will enjoy.

Anyone else feels that it happens to them?
Interesting question. Although we are local now we did come down regularly before moving here. We made it a practice to include a few of our regular restaurants each trip but we also included a few new restaurants. There are so many different places to eat at WDW and it's fun to try new ones. Who knows, you might find a new favorite.

Definitely want to try Topolino's!

We visit a few times a year, stay for 3-5 days. We try new restaurants, but revisit favorites more frequently. First time visits over the past two years were Polite Pig, Nine Dragons, Skipper’s, Space 220, the Plaza, and Topolino’s. All of these were one and done for us except Topolino’s, which was added to our “repeat rotation” group, which also includes Boma, Sanaa, Jiko’s, California Grill, Hollywood Brown Derby, San Angel Inn, Il Mulino, and Yak and Yeti. We will sadly drop Chefs de France from our rotation as it hasn’t recovered to its prior standards. Such a disappointment as we’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere and the French staff. Other former repeat restaurants we’ve stopped going to are Rose and Crown, Cape May buffet, Tusker House, Flying Fish, Crystal Palace and Yachtsman. We used to go to Monsieur Paul’s before it was a multi course meal, but aren’t likely to go there again. Still want to try Narcoosees, Citricos, and Rodeo Round Up.

Finally tried fancy Citricos at The Grand Floridian. Terrible entree, terrible dessert.
I was solo with a dining reservation and the hostess asked if I wanted to sit at the bar.
Insulting! Why would I make a dining reservation if I wanted to sit at the bar? She could sense my displeasure at her question. Then she asked me if I had any allergies. I said the only allergy I had was to sitting at the bar. I won’t go back. I even made room in my carryon for the required dressy outfit and shoes. I don’t need to do that again. Sometimes it’s best to stick with your favorites. I would have been happier downstairs at the Grand Floridian Cafe or even Earl of Sandwich!

Round up was amazing

Yak and Yeti has a burger & fries on the menu....it's one of the places that my adventurous and non-adventurous eaters enjoy.

Travelling with kids means our needs change as our kids grow, so we aren't always at the same restaurants because tastes have changed or they have aged up to Disney adult prices. Sci-Fi is a nostalgic must do for our family, as is, Yak & Yeti.
