Photo challenge

Does anyone have any ideas for a photo challenge at WDW? My son (23) and I live in Australia and will be returning to the World in early December after a 7 year absence (only 2 previous trips - 2007 and 2010), and are looking for some ideas to make recording our trip a little more fun. We are not people to document our lives rather we enjoy living each experience as it comes, without having to look at it through a lens. Unfortunately this means that when we get home we don't usually have many photos to show our friends and family. We have decided that this time it will be different and are looking for some fun ways or challenges to keep us motivated to record our trip. Any ideas?

This is kind of common, but still could be fun.
Bring a stuffed animal or figurine and take pictures of them and you (or just them) doing different things around the parks.

Try and capture a pics with as many characters as possible... either with you or in background with you in the shot.

Get a snap with the icon in each park - Spaceship Earth/EPCOT, Tree of Life/AK, Castle/MK... with DS with the hat gone it's pretty much just the main street. Possible get Memory Maker so that you get all you ride pictures and all the special effects.

Thanks for these ideas. We were hoping to get some quirkier ideas, although pictures of the park icons and characters are a good start. We were also going to include the marquees of the restaurants that we eat at and those of our favourite rides.

We often set kids challenges like 'Alphabet game' whereby they have to take a photo with something beginning with each letter of the alphabet, the weirder the better! Kids can get very creative!

This can be done with any topic...... Rides built in the 70's, 80's... Attractions Walt created, characters that have 4 legs etc... Whatever you choose takes the focus on simply 'being there' and gives a little fun incentive to getting memories of your trip.

Thanks for this one - I really think I can don something with it. We will be in the parks for 6 days and we should be able to get the alphabet knocked over in that time. I can see an interesting alaphabetical photobook at the end of the trip.

Ahhh... for quirkier, one trip I took pictures of things that had eyes and posted a challenge to my friends on Facebook "Where am Eye today". But the alphabet one sounds like a lot of fun.

Quirkier - what about trying to take a picture in front of something silly - like the signs for the bathrooms, or trash cans in as many parts of the parks as you can?
Or - see who can get more pictures with or of cast members - I bet a lot of the cast would be thrilled to help out with that!
One thing we like to do is try on a lot of different hats in the shops and take pics of us trying to "act out" the hat... for example, try on the sorcerer Mickey hat and pretend to do magic. :) This has made for some really funny pictures!

Take a pic that looks like you are holding Spaceship Earth in your hand. Google "forced perspective photos" for ideas or look on pinterest.

My kids developed a habit of taking pics of themselves with garbage cans, based on a silly incident when they were young in Disney, with a garbage can. I know it sounds gross, but many times those pics are the most interesting. And hey, I actually own little dis garbage can salt shakers!- another idea..... best food shots with person enjoying it(my fave) or it could be modes of transport pics, or weird angles on iconic things (like the castle)

Hidden Mickeys...

Weird angles...

Different perspectives...

One shot that came out really cool for me from 2012 was when I was trying to take a picture of the monorail coming into the MK station... well, a guy down from me was taking a picture on his phone of the monorail coming in... turns out, I got the shot of the monorail... and the picture of the monorail in the guys phone... it actually was really neat, though annoying at first when it happened.

I'm a fan of the torches in the World Showcase... they're all numbered...

There's a ton of little things around Disney World that make gorgeous photos... You just have to think outside the box.

I have a vacation scheduled at the end of August with my two brothers, sisters in laws, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. I had trouble finding a photo scavenger hunt that fit my family and our sense of humor so came up with rules and a list on my own. All photos are to be posted to a Facebook group so we can share easily amongst ourselves and in some cases vote for the best photo.

If you're interested in the list and our rules let me know? There are some silly things like "longest wait time" and "best dressed" but other photos like "meeting Mickey" so we can capture and share the little moments.

All of us adults have been to WDW many times, and I've lurked on these boards for years. I had to create an account when I read this post, thinking I may actually be able to finally help!

Take really awesome selfies in front of WDW specific themes. Like take pictures in front of their decorative and themed trash cans, best looking bathroom entrances, really cool looking light post (the lighting designers in Disney are geniuses). Take selfies on as many Boats as possible (trust me there's a lot)

We often have fun taking photos with some of the statues around the parks rather than the characters. (Mimicking, kissing, etc.)

On our last trip 2 years ago, me, my daughter and her best friend tried to see who could get the most random high 5's. What about taking pictures of your group trying to get random high 5's? We did quite a few photo bombs too. Try getting pictures of your group photo bombing?

Make sure that you take lots of pictures of YOU. You can always Google a million pictures of Cinderella's castle (as evident by my prof pic) but you can't Google pictures of yourself and your family in front of the castle. There are a lot of beautiful things at Disney, but it's important to take pictures of who you spend the day with!
