Total disaster of a visit to Disney Paris.

Did not stay onsite, so not able to take advantage of the 2 hour Early Entry --- based on what I experienced, this would be a huge benefit to have.

First mistake -- not realizing that the parks open 30 minutes earlier than their posted opening time. Given my experience in FLA, I guess I should have realized this might be the case. Since we arrived well after others, we were immediately hit with long wait times.

Disneyland had the 2 hour EE, so we went to Hollywood Studios and right to Ratatouille and a 35 minute wait (not a bad ride, but somewhat outdated compared to new virtual reality rides at Universal). After that ride, basically every ride in the park had a ridiculously long wait time so we decided to grab something to eat at Planet Hollywood and then hit the main Park.

Unfortunately, the main park was still insanely busy and by the time we got in all of the Fast Passes for the entire day were gone. Oh, and Space Mountain and Pirates were closed for refurb, which made every other ride's line even longer.

We basically gave up trying to go on any of the remaining big rides and hit It's a Small World -- which had a 40 minute wait. After doing that and waiting another 45 minutes for an absolutely horrible Pinocchio ride we gave up and went back to the resort pool.

We knew that these parks would not be even close to the level of Orlando, but we were still disappointed even with low expectations. Besides the overcrowded situation (we went on a Monday, so not even the weekend), the amount of smoking everywhere in the park was annoying beyond belief. It seems that even though there are specific smoking areas, no one honors that and there is zero enforcement.

We were also disappointed in the low number of stores and poor selections in the stores that were there -- both in the parks and in the Village area.

The only good thing is we got the tickets for relatively cheap ($50 a person for the 1 day/ 2 park ticket).

We can say we visited the park -- but I can guarantee you we will never visit it again.

For anyone planning to go -- set your expectations really low and if at all possible stay onsite so you can get the EE access.

This weekend would have been every busy as it is the start of the Spanish summer school holidays.

What a shame you experienced such high crowds. We visit every year and I don't enjoy much in those crowds either. Hope you managed to see the beauty of the park despite there being so many people there.

What a shame you had a bad experience. With us we only had one really bad trip out of 4 to Paris and that was because of the rudeness of people in the parks at time. We have found that if you go at quieter times of the year that it's alot better than in busy times.

The smoking isn't actually allowed in the parks either and last time I was there they made announcements saying that several times a day and I did see CM's go over to people and tell them to stop smoking but some people just don't follow rules.

Having been to WDW and Paris several times each though there is a massive difference in the feel of the two resorts. You're not going to get the same level of Magic in Paris as you will in WDW. They way I always think of them is WDW is magic on speed whereas Paris is a more relaxed magic but it still has it's own beauty and I hope the negative didn't take away from that to much for you.

We are going for the first time in September from the US, we are in the "mini" dates. We were hoping to do 2 parks in 1 day...is it not feasible? Also where did you buy your tickets ahead of time? I found some UK sites but am not sure if they are reputable, they would save us $100 over all...thanks!

When have you found the quieter times to be? My husband and I are planning on doing a river cruise to celebrate our 25th. I thought it might be fun to check out DisneyParis if possible.

January. We went around about the 11-15th of January in 2016 and the park was so quiet. Most of the rides were 5 -10 minute wait or walk on. In Adventureland I saw Jafar, Abu and Genie with no wait. It was so quiet that morning that Genie actually got in a huff that nobody wanted to meet him and went to hang out with Hook and Smee!

The time before that we went in November just as the Christmas season was starting and the rudeness in the park was unreal. We had people literally steal a seat in restaurants out from under us as we were about to sit down, people tried to push past in queues, one lady literally pushed me off the footpath to try get in front of us for the Christmas tree lighting. It was horrendous but the January was the complete opposite. It was cold but fabulous.

Thanks for the response! I think we might be trying for late May. Hopefully we won't experience much of the rudeness you did in November!

I think once you go aware that you will encounter it but focus on the more positive and don't let it bother you, you should be fine. Sometimes it just gets a bit much lol.

The smoking issue, for me would have been the last straw. Sorry OP I hope the rest of ur visit to Paris was enjoyable.

Exactly when in September? If you avoid the half marathon week end you should find very low crowds, if you avoid week ends.
If you wanto to focus on the attractions that are unique to DLP, you should do well in one day. If you enjoy exploring the details and smell the roses, then DLP can easily take 2 days by itself and half to one day for the Studios.

Plan of attack for 1 day 2 parks for a WDW veteran:
Start with the studios, be at the gates half an hour before opening. Run to Crush and Coaster. If someone in the group doesn't do coasters, let him go and take a FP for Ratatuille, otherwise everyone should enter the line for Crush there is no time to take the FP, the line builds very quickly and moves slowly, every minute counts.
If you are willing to split the group, use the single rider line at Ratatuille or take the FP (if you already haven't one) and go to ToyStory Playland to do the attractions you care for. The're off the shelf carnival rides, not that special, but in a pretty environment. If you wish, send a runner to take a Big Thunder Mountains FP now, they run out quickly. FP between the two parks are disconnected.
Wait for the first show of Mickey and the Magician doing the attractions you might care, but everything else is identical to the WDW version or not that special. The Stitch show is similar to Turtle Talk with a different host, nice but not a must do.
See the first show (queue at least 15 minutes early, it does often fill to capacity) then leave the park.

If you don't have a FP for BTMRR go and take it first thing. Unique or different enough attractions:
- Phantom Manor
- BTMRR
- Indiana Jones (short roller coaster with one loop)
- the castle walkthrough and dungeon
- Alice's labyrinth
- Space Mountains (completely different from the US, very intense roller coaster)
- The nightly projections show

You should be able to do everything in one day with the right plan. However the strenght of DLP is not in the reides, but in its beauty, small details, breathtaking views.

Smoking isn't actually allowed in the parks anymore. When we were there last year they kept announcing it. There was the odd few people that were breaking the rule and any CM that saw them was telling them to stop smoking.

What are "the 'mini' dates"? What does that mean?
