For those that purchase early bird on SW, what is most important to you?

We buy it for several reasons (most already stated). The biggest one is so that we are together. We generally travel as a family of four, but sometimes have extra family with us. Also so we don't have to stand around waiting to get on the plane is a big one. Stuff like that makes me anxious, and I would rather be in my area of my seat than out in the open. We like to sit at the front of the plane, but that is just an added bonus.

I buy it for the trip home every...single...time. It is too much stress to try to remember to check in and hope you have reliable internet signal when you are trying to enjoy your last day of vacation.

On the way to Orlando, it varies. When we have fly non-stop, I don't worry about it. I'm able to check in at T-24 without too much issue and we are a family of 4 who don't mind splitting up. If we have a connection, I will buy it. That way, we can sit as far forward as we can on the first leg so that we can disembark, hit the restroom and grab a bite to eat before boarding the next leg. You never know how long you will have and if we are running behind, I want to get off of that plane ASAP.

When I am comparing flights, I always factor in EBCI the same way I factor in the luggage costs on other airlines. To me, it's part of the fare. If you don't want to buy it, then don't buy it, but don't expect the "privileges" that come with it.

I bought it for my first SW trip in a few months. First reason is because I am an anxious flyer and I hate the 'waiting game' of standing around in the airport, worrying about finding overhead space for your bag, etc. I also like sitting by the window. Second reason is because I like super early flights and there is no way I'm getting up at 5am the day before to check in at 24-hours. Honestly, if I only have to pay $30 for peace-of-mind...that's a small price to pay for less stress.

My SW flights have been solo, but I buy EBCI so I do not have to remember to check in right at 24 hours and so I can get a window seat, or aisle if necessary. I have only had to sit between two strangers once, over 20 years ago, and I absolutely hated it. I have done everything to make sure I never have to again. It is why it took me so long to even consider SW as a carrier. If flights on other carriers were too high, I would just driver or change my plans.

I want to sit with my husband and I don't want to be in the back of the plane.

I prefer a window seat, front to middle of the plane. The last time I didn't buy it, I got B26. There was a huge family boarding line (some families I wondered if they really had a child 6 or under), couples sitting window/aisle, seat savers, all presented challenges. I ended up in an aisle seat, second to last row. It was a bumpy flight and very uncomfortable. After that, I buy EBCI. My last trip I had A26 both ways.

The few times we have used SW we did EBCI. Mostly because we were either at work at the 24 hour mark or doing something else. We had no problem getting seats together. It is also one of the reasons we fly AA ( prior to them USAir) don't want to be bothered with the 24 hour thing. Plus at Philadelphia SW does not usually have the direct flights or times we want and when they do the price difference isn't enought. The times we did SW was due to the location and plane options ( I am not a fan of the small 60 seat jets).

I like the convenience of not having to check in at T24
I get anxious - not about the flying but about the waiting around to board so I like to just line up and board asap
I like to sit with my daughters even though they are not kids anymore and even as kids had been seated apart from me (on legacy airlines) and done solo flights - it wouldn't make or break our trip to sit apart but for me the $ is worth it.
We prefer to be closer to the front
We usually do carry on only so its nice to be sure there will be overhead space

We carry on my husband's medical supplies and I want to make sure there's overhead space for them. Not checking those!

That's another reason I don't like to move seats if asked...we try to keep the supplies at hand if needed and keep an eye on them. Some can go under the seat but not all.

I always buy it for the trip home so I don't have to worry about checking in at the 24 hour mark. Purchasing it on the flight down is dependent on what time the flight is. This trip we are leaving at 6-something in the morning - I don't want to have to worry about checking in 24 hours before, so I bought it.

We always get EBCI to sit together. We like to sit near the back of the plane, since we like to take our time getting off.

Peace of mind. I like to have a wide choice of available seats, and don't want to worry about checking in exactly 24 hours in advance. The cost is well worth it to me.

Wifey wants a guarantee that we'll sit together, I want to get close to the front to get out quickly. We both get what we want as I book SW the very minute the fares are released.

We as a family even though sons are in 20s want to sit near each other- we sit aisles across and behind each other. Occasionally hubby will do window and I’ll do aisle as I don’t like middle or window.

I don’t want to worry about checking in at 24 hour mark. We cruise lots so don’t worry about having internet access.
