adding people to reservation

We need to increase the number in our party for a couple reservations. When I go to "change reservation" in MDE, I am choosing a larger number in the party. Is this the best way to do this? For example, if going from 6 to 10 people, is it looking for a party of 10 or will it understand we already have 6 and try to find 4 more seats? Wondering if I should just be looking for a new reservation for 4 and that would be easier? Or does the system really know best?

When booking ADRs for larger groups, I found it was easier to split our group up if I could not find 1 reservation for all of us.

I have done that for other reservations. I am just trying to understand how the reservation change actually works so I know if it is just looking for extra chairs or a whole new party without considering that I already have some seats.

Along this same topic, I'm trying to add someone to a reservation and I can't find a "change reservation" button. My only option is to "update guests" but that only allows me to swap guests out, not add someone. Can someone tell me where I should be looking or even better yet share a screenshot please?

Some reservations will not allow a change for example my fantasmic had no option to change but my Akershus did I needed to go from 3-4 people and had no issue and got lucky finding a H&V fantasmic that seated 4. I am guessing it depends on the place and type of reservation.

ok just looked at all my reservations and yes it seems to be specialty reservations that don't allow a change Fantasmic & MVMCP dinner will not allow, Ohana, Chef Mickeys, Garden Grill, Akershus and Crystal Palace all allow a change.

Can you delete someone from a reservation or do you have to make a new reservation?

On more than one occasion while traveling with family I had to get two reservations for a group of 7. Every time they were able to seat us at the same table and said not to worry they can always accommodate one or two extra guests. The one time they did not even acknowledge the second reservation and said we did not arrive and charged us a no show fee. Had to call and straiten it out. With a family of 5 it is always harder to find a table. I will start searching for 5 but if I have to I will resort to 4.

It is not true that they can always add extra. You were very lucky. Under-counting how many people are on your ADR is taking a chance. As long as you are comfortable with that, fine. But it is not something that should be advocated as a solution to not having an ADR that actually works for everyone in your family.
