Do dates book up at the one year mark?

Thanks! This is really helpful. Yes, it would be 11/11/18. I just really liked the 11/11, I always make a wish when it's 11:11 on the clock, so I thought it would be kind of perfect. Since my boyfriend doesn't care what day we get married I think if I couldn't have the 11/11 I'd just wait to get engaged. But I'll definitely call and see if anyone else has that day already marked down. I'd probably still do the lottery, but if I'd mention I don't have backups and would just change to a different day if I don't get it.

That sounds like a great plan! Good luck!! <3 you will get the wedding day of your dreams, don't worry!!

I didn't see this mentioned, but 11/11 (or the weekday before or after) is a Federal holiday in the US and a public/bank holiday in many other countries, so it's probably a good idea to try to get into the lottery, even if it doesn't seem like an obviously in-demand date at first glance. The good news is that some of your guests may have a three-day weekend, which might make attending your event easier for them. Of course, the flip side is that if they're involved in a Veterans Day or Remembrance Day event, they might have to choose between that and your wedding. (11-11-2018 is actually the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice, so it might be a bigger deal than usual?)

That said, I think 11/11 is a perfect wedding date! I always think "eleven eleven, make a wish!" when I see the clock at 11:11 too, hahaha :) I hope all your wedding wishes come true :)

Thanks, I didn't even realize that this was veterans day when I first wanted it. I talked to my parents and my dad agreed to pay for my wedding (didn't even put up much argument I thought I'd have to convince him a lot more)

I always make a wish at 11:11 so I felt like it was perfect.

I sent an email to them and got an automated response yesterday that they would be reaching out to me. I haven't heard anything since, maybe I should call them?

I'm getting a little discouraged. I really want the wedding in the Wedding Pavilion at either 5pm or 7:30pm. For 11/11 there are already 6 other couples that want these times so I'm figuring I'm not going to get it and I gave Sea Breeze Point as my third backup, which no one has requested, which makes me feel like they'll definitely put me there since it'll be empty. So I'm considering doing a different day entirely to try and get the Wedding Pavilion. But I'm worried every date I'll end up not getting it and will end up with no day. I also found out I can't do a firework Epcot rehearsal dinner in November because of Food and Wine, which I really wanted. I'm hoping this will be my only wedding ever so I really wanted it to be special. But now I'm feeling like I'm not going to get anything I actually wanted.

If the date is really your thing why not see if earlier in the day is open. Earlier in the day makes for less expensive minimums. Of course it might be that everyone wanting the date might be willing to have their wedding anytime that day. If the Pavilion is really your thing maybe a different date? Good luck. Not too much longer to see how it works out.

When I talked to my dad he said that if it's not a dinner it won't feel like a wedding so he doesn't want me to have an earlier wedding time. Since he's paying he gets a lot of say. I gave a couple of backup dates. I'm just worried I won't get the Wedding pavilion then either and then I'll have lost out on the 11/11 for nothing.

I see. I am the mother of a bride getting married at the Pavilion next month. Originally she thought she wanted an evening wedding too but we ended up with a 10 AM wedding. Prereception at 11 and Receptions starts at noon. Food gets served around 1 I think and we are having a real dinner like meal and reception. No windows in the ballrooms so who will know? It's much less expensive and then we are having our dessert party that night so we are actually pretty much having a Wedding Day. There will be a break between the reception and desserts but everyone seems really excited about it. I have also listened to some of the other podcasts with earlier wedding times and smaller groups (we have over 100) that actually did spend the whole day together by heading to the parks after the wedding.

Let us all know what happens.

Aww, I'm sorry the date was so booked up already. I think you could ask them to check other available dates WITHOUT losing your spot on the list for 11/11, right? Just have them check if any of your other dates have multiple interested brides. That way you can decide what is more important to you- the WP or the date.

Another note- you can still have a dinner reception with a 2:30 ceremony time! I'm a 5pm bride and at first I was ADAMANT about having that time so we would have a traditional dinner reception. I ended up getting that time, but in the meantime I really came to terms with having a 2:30 ceremony and realized if that's all they had, it really wouldn't be that bad. If you did that time, the ceremony and traveling to the reception venue could last about an hour, (3:30) and your cocktail hour could start around 4:00, reception at 5:00. It would be an early dinner, but dinner all the same! Since you're getting married in Nov, it will get dark early and will be night time when it comes time for dancing and the traditional wedding fanfare. Maybe see if 2:30 is an option on 11/11 for the WP? Good luck, and let us know what you decide!

Originally I thought of doing a brunch since it's the cheapest option, but when I mentioned it to my dad he was pretty adamant about having a 5pm or later wedding. I feel like 5pm for me would be the perfect time.

I thought about 2:30, but it's at an awkward time where I feel like if I'm going to be doing things so early I should try for a little earlier instead of paying the high dinner prices.

I'm kind of leaning towards the Sea Breeze Point instead of the Wedding Pavilion, which I feel like I'll never get. My boyfriend and I actually play married there when we were on a trip for my birthday which was really cute. I've been wary of an outdoor wedding since Florida weather can be really unpredictable and I'd probably cry if it rained. They said a ballroom would be used as a backup if it did, but I'm not sure how it will look on short notice. Or maybe it will look nice since it rains a lot in Florida so this probably happens a lot.

@Disney_Alli was rained out of Sea Breeze Point. It stopped raining for post ceremony pictures so they still got pictures there

That's really pretty. I wonder why it can't still be held outside with rain since it is covered. The lack of decoration in the ballroom though I wouldn't be happy with. Is that something can be discussed so they'd know what I'd want in case it had to move, or would they not talk about it until the day of if it happened?

The only way they would be able to have the decorations prepared is if you had already arranged to have them so you would need to have any decorations you’d want for the ballroom arranged for SBP so that they would be ready in case of using your backup location. They wouldn’t be able to throw together decorations day of as they will be decorating all of the wedding locations for the day already

I guess if I get that location I'll just hope it doesn't rain lol.

Follow up question. Is it crazy to book my wedding date now before I get engaged in December?

I started the process with my sales consultant in February and didn't get officially engaged until April. I say if you've been together for a while and know you want to get married next year then go for it. We just waited to announce our Disney wedding until we were officially engaged and had our date and venue confirmed.

I only wanted one day specifically (April 28 2018) because it will be my parents 28th wedding anniversary and I wanted the Wedding Pavilion. I told my consultant I was fine with any ceremony time expect the really late one (7:30 PM I think?). My first choice was 2:30 PM, I got put into the lottery and got my second choice of 9:30 AM.

My sales consultant didn't outright tell me I was in a lottery, I asked how my date was looking when it got closer to the one year mark and he said it was a busy date. Then when I got the email confirming our date and time, it said "I was unable to secure your first time choice" or something like that, so I knew I was in a lottery.

The lady on the phone did say it's pretty common to start planning before the official engagement, I'm glad I'm not alone :). The way the lady explained the lottery process to me is they look at all the couples and see where things fit best, which makes me think who ever is spending the most is getting their first choice. I've given a couple different options so hopefully one of them will work. I'm wavering on my 11/11 day because one of my best friend's brother is getting married that day so she wouldn't be able to go to my wedding and I wouldn't be able to do the firework rehearsal dinner. I wasn't very good at not telling almost everyone around me, but the majority of the people who will be getting invited don't know I'm doing this first.

I don't know if it helps any, but I started to talk to DFTW before I was engaged. I told DF how long the process took with Disney and he understood and said to just get started with them and by that time we would be engaged. Got my date from DFTW yesterday (and the ring last weekend :lovestruc) so I am all set, and he has no issues with any of it.

Congrats!! I told my boyfriend how I really wanted a fall wedding and how it books a year out. He said he understands but thinks we shouldn't mention it to anyone mainly his parents who probably wouldn't understand. I talked to someone at DFTW and they have me penciled in for the dates I want and backups hopefully I get something I want lol. I'll probably have the venue booked a week before my engagment. (I know it's happening in December and we have a Disney cruise planned so I'm thinking that's where it's happening)

Thanks! I understand how some people might not understand, but everyone I explained it to got it, wedding venues book up early. Sometimes to get what you want, you have to plan before you are "official"
