Pixie Dust Came To Me...

So I am staying at VGF with DH, DD, and a friend, as well as DS and another friend who were coming later. Went to make fast pass reservations at AK for our party, and found I couldn’t without park passes. Not a problem for DH and I since we have APs. So I bought one day tickets for the other 4, as a gift. Went to the AK to pick up the tickets and found I hadn’t brought my credit card (I screwed up). She could not activate the passes. So my friend and DD bought their own tickets. We went on our (not fast pass) rides and had a great day at AK.

Next day I go to move the two tickets from DD and DFriend to DS and his friend (giving them 2 days of tickets each). The “system” had used the tickets for their park entry. The (poor) concierge and I went round and round. I know, I know, I KNOW...THEY told me the tickets couldn’t be used and they forced DD and friend to buy new. Then they used the tickets.

Bottom line I could not get the tickets back. As I left I sighed and said “well, no good deed goes unpunished.”

Two hours later the concierge called me and she said they comped me two tickets, and put them on my son and friend’s account! pixiedust:pixiedust:They didn’t take away the ticket from DD and friend! I was soooo appreciative and told the concierge so!

So my question is...any other pixie dust coming down out there?

I'm glad it worked out but a little confused. Weren't the other tickets your daughter and her friend bought available then if they used the ones you bought?

I was confused too! That point you made was the same one I made. But because they bought those tickets, not me, I couldn’t switch them out.

Did those tickets get added to their MDE account? Some how, some way they should still be available too and it should just be a matter of getting them connected and then they could be switched or saved for some other time. At least assuming your daughter and her friend are under or linked to your MDE account? Or maybe they were just going to use them? They've got to be somewhere......

In the end they had the tickets they bought, the tickets I bought them and were used, AND two tickets Disney gave us. Sweet and very nice.

Once my wife and I got a free one day park hopper upgrade. It did feel quite a bit like pixie dust. Worked out for Disney, too, because we ended up eating in the parks that night as opposed to going off property.

My Pixie Dust stories:
1.
Once cause of over booking at VWL:
Booked a studio at VWL, when we tried to check-in, we had been upgraded to a WL 2 bedroom lake view suite. Called some family members to come and join us for an unexpected vacation.
2.
Once cause of problem with check-in at AKL:
Booked a standard view studio at AKL-Jambo, checked-in, given a room key as the room was supposed to be ready, went to the room, and found suitcases and purse in the room along with the room not being made up. Went back to the front desk, they gave us an on-the-spot upgrade to a savanna view room in another part of the resort plus four free breakfasts.
3.
DCL
Reserved an inside stateroom on DVC points but were upgraded to an ocean view room. We did not find out about the upgrade until we got to the room, what a surprise that was. When our luggage arrived it still had the old room number's tags on them.
4.
AKL-Jambo
Booked a standard view room at 5 days out due to a last minute change in home plans. Given a Savanna View room.

Got another upgrade in Aug ‘16. Reserved a standard studio, on Sunday before leaving the house checked status of points, made a reservation, etc; found that I had more points in my account than I should have and points in Holding that should not of been there. On the way from home to AKL, I called MS, asked for a status of my points, and they stated they saw the same thing on their system.
After being put on hold, MS came back with an explanation, stating that we had been upgraded from a standard to a full-savanna view room. The points in holding are there for the backroom process of the upgrade. Checked my points on Sunday evening and everything is correct. The room we were given was 5268 with no pen in the view except across the savanna.

Once in a life time exception is possible. I got one for DD for a cruise booked on points, when her BiL was KIA in Iraq during the first week of the war. We were booked on a DCL, the funeral was schedule during the cruise, so I called MS, and they refunded her points (with no restrictions) after I provided proof.

Jan ’17 - Two nights at SSR with our DGS. The evening of our check-in a front desk person came over, delivered a note from the SSR manager and a tin with candies and trail mix inside. She stated we were getting this delivery in thanks for staying at this resort on our 12th visit to the resort.
We have never gotten this at other resorts in which we have stayed way more than 12 times.
We did not have any issues with check-in, with the online check-in, or text messages telling us our room was ready.

What in the world??!! I have never in any type of travel been upgraded to anything. We go to WDW 2-4 times a year, sometimes on a cash reservation and sometimes on our points. I am secretly always hoping. In fact, we just got back from a quick trip that involved a 2 night stay on point at Poly. I thought it was odd that the room number never appeared in MDE nor did we get a text but when we went to check in I see the wheels turning on the CM's face and he let us know something was up but didn't say what. He put in a phone call to someone where I heard him mentioning "it says they are to be in room XXXX but that room is currently occupied". Then he got put on hold and started talking about how they were at 100% capacity and had been for weeks. I was secretly thinking 'oooooh! upgrade???!!'. Nope, they got it figured out. Not saying I was happy with my room (we loved it!) but I was still hoping we'd get something ridiculous and lavish like a cool view or concierge. A girl can dream, right?

Never had anything like this. I've never even had a room request fulfilled. Still keep giving them my money every year. I'm still amazed that I can afford to stay at these great resorts.
