Hi All!

I have taken a hiatus from the Disboards for a while, but we are going to Disneyland in July and decided to take a day and visit Universal Hollywood.

We are staying by Disneyland without a rental car. What is the best way to get to Universal?

Since we have one day planned, I thought I might splurge on the VIP Express pass...anyone done it? Thoughts?

TIA!

There’s a tour bus includes tix leaves from DLH and few other spots there. Greyline I think. U r there early near park opening but leave around 6 pm.

Never hit crowds @ USH in several trips no need the passes. Backstage tour is best to do early as I’m sure HP

Last trip did Uber (black I believe) from USH to knotts, which is not far from DL. U can estimate it easily.

U could take train pickup point near Baseball stadium as I recall a very long, circuitous route. Seem to recall u may have to change trains in LA.

Jmho it was easiest last trip to just fly into Burbank on SWA, stay a night at either of the hotels located at USH, shuttle or short walk up the hill to park. Then, uber down to DL to have fun & catch flight back from SNA or LAX

There is board here for DL & USH lots of helpful folks

The best way is Lux Bus - leaves Anaheim at 7:30AM and leaves Universal around 7PM.

The VIP experience is well worth the money for a one day visit.

If you plan on seeing the Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle DO NOT take any of the tour buses from Anaheim to Universal as they will leave well before the first showing of that show.

The most flexible way without renting a car or very expensive Uber or Taxi is public transit.

Option 1

Take Metrolink or Amtrak train from Fullerton or Anaheim train station to Los Angeles Union Station. From Union you would connect to the Metro Redline Subway heading towards North Hollywood. Get off at Universal City Station and take the free tram to the park.

Option 2

Take LA Metro Bus 460 from Disneyland (picks up underneath the monorail beam on Harbor) to 7th Street Metro Station in downtown LA. From 7th Street you would connect to the Metro Redline Subway heading towards North Hollywood. Get off at Universal City Station and take the free tram to the park.

I would take the Anaheim Resort Transportation number 15 bus to ARIIC and transfer to the Metolink's Orange County line to Union Station
