DVC Tour and different price given?

I thought they set a 100 minimum for CC, I'm sure they did originally but minimums can be fluid if a sale is at risk.

We we're looking at buying 140 - 160 points, This is something I am now reading and looking at buying the 75 directly through Disney to get our Membership benefits and then buying the rest through a resale site.

That strategy might not be so effective if you only want 140 to 160 points. Buying contracts with less than 100 points resale isn't always easy can they come at a premium

I've seen a lot of people expecting the special on platinum passes and the 13 for 12 deal to "come back," and I actually think that was a one-shot for DVC's 25th.

I think it has more to do with the timing of Star Wars Land. Offering a cheap AP the year before the grand opening helps to counter the "I'll wait SWL" approach many may take. They won't need it next year.

I'm almost positive it's 100 minimum for CCV and 75 for everything else.
That's the official minimum and what guides will push, but there have been personal accounts on these boards of guides conceding to selling 75. A sold 75 point contract will trump a passed 100 point contract every time.

So does DVC now allow new members to purchase direct as low as 75 points? If so that would work out perfect for us as we love Wilderness Lodge and a week every other year would fit our needs perfectly.

We were offered 75 at CCV as a new membership multiple times from July - October 2017. I was holding out for BWV points and they continually offered me CCV.

What I haven't heard so far is if any existing members have successfully added on less than 50 at CCV. (edited to clarify)

I, as an existing member, added on 30 at BWV about 2 weeks ago. The 100 CCV/75 everything else is for new members after this past February, I think. I could be completely mixing that up though.

There was a 50-point minimum for existing members at CCV. We aren’t sure if that’s still in place since the new-member minimum seems to have decreased.

It's extremely unlikely that buying 75 points for the perks retail for items where one can save $$$ resale will be worthwhile but there may be a few exceptions. Maybe for VGC or VGF but certainly not for AKV, SSR or OKW.

What use years is dvc currently offering for CCV direct sale?

We did the tour Saturday. They were pushing December. When I said I would only buy if I could have a October UY he left to check and miraculously found some October points available.

Oh, i would much rather prefer a june or august use year. We travel late summer to fall usually.
Just stick to your guns on what you want/need and they'll generally find it for you.

They will push certain UYs but will sell you whatever you want. I was talking to my guide about it not long ago, and despite them marketing (I think) August, she was happy to match to my current UY without any pushback.

^^same experience here. We purchased a few weeks ago and they were pushing December. December was fine for us but I asked about other use years and our guide said she could get us a different one if we needed it.

we went on a DVC Tour last week, We asked about DVC resale and we're told that we could get Old Key West for $105 per point if we bought there and then

This is something on there powerpoint that went through and the price seemed too good to be true at the time

I did a tour with my cousin a few months ago and there was nothing on a powerpoint about OKW being 105...

the person i spoke to told me it is $151 per point and it was never $105 per point so he doesn't know who told me it.

And did you tell him "my guide said it and it was on a powerpoint"? But I agree with the person you spoke to.

Also I have tried e-mailing my DVC "Guide" twice now and I have yet to have a reply.

Call. They don't email back.

When we did our initial tour I misunderstood something. If my now-ex hadn't understood it I would have called to figure out where I had the misunderstanding.

Since he did the powerpoint and he did the call, he'll know what you're talking about.

They won't (as a general rule) sell an existing member a contract in a different UY. So NOT matching your current UY would actually be an exception.

If you ask and hit the minimum for a new member or they do not have your UY (again meeting new member min), they will easily do so. There have been reports of them going under the new member minimum if they didn't have the UY but it's been a while since I've personally seen it reported.

They will always make exceptions when they feel it's to their benefit. I saw a couple of 15 point AUL contracts a while ago, which is less than even the 25 point add-on minimum. There's no telling if it was a split purchase (i.e. a 30-point purchase split in half) but I was surprised to see 15 point contracts nonetheless.

My point though was that if you hit the minimum new purchase it wasn't an exception.
