In Feb. we were at VB in an inn room and they had to replace our mattress. It was so badly sunk in on one side. Even though the rooms were recently refurbed I think the mattresses were not new. The other mattress was ok but was creaky every time you sat on it.

I loved my very firm VAKL mattress this year, but we have noticed that my husbands side of the bed is always a little sunk - even when my side is firm and flat. We think it must be the case that his side of the bed (right side when laying on your back) is more popular with the men and the smaller (statistically speaking) women tend to sleep on the left.

I've had times that the mattress hasn't been as comfortable as ours at home but I think it's mostly just a matter of people preferring different things. I hate buying new mattresses - have to try out every one in a mattress store and there are a bunch of varying firmness. We went to a Tempurpedic a few years ago but I noticed they don't have our model anymore so where that should have been an easy replace it's going to mean more trying out when every we need to update. :headache: And I will say it's probably made travel a bit more difficult because for the most part it's traditional mattresses in hotels. Overall, because of varying preferences, it's going to be impossible to please everyone on this. My DH loved to sleep on a rock. Me, not so much. The resorts used to, and may still, offer egg crate toppers - that was their assistance to allow some customizing of the mattress.

We help in evening it out then I guess! ;)

Poly is my only experience and it was good. The bed was firm, but I noticed that I didn't feel any aches and pains until I got home to my own bed (which is softer). Maybe I should get a firm mattress? The mrs. spent some time on the couch bed when one of the kids had a rough night and she noted how comfortable that was. As Kat said, I think it really is just a matter of preference.

Just stayed at OKW, BLT, BWV and PVB In April. I can’t say that any one mattress was better than any other. None were super comfortable and none were uncomfortable.

We stayed in studios at VGC and Poly recently and found the beds to be really comfortable. We do prefer firmer mattresses though.

BRV has amazing mattresses. Vero is getting new ones now.

Never heard that statistic before. I lie on the left side of the bed when you are standing at the foot of the bed looking towards the head of the bed and Bill sleeps on the right. Sounds like that might be opposite of what you are saying. We've done that for over 36 years and it was all because I wanted to be closer to bedside table so I could put my glasses there. I only had one bedside table and it fit better on the left side.

I don't know if its true or not, we've just noticed that the right side of the bed (while lying face up) in any hotel/timeshare we've been in has a much better chance of having the bigger depression than the left side. We've been laughing about it for years, and now make it a habit to lie down on the bed before he gets his CPAP all set up to make sure he won't be sleeping in a ditch. (He is also a pickier bed person than I am - I like mine a lot firmer, but will whine less about a lack of perfection....I love my husband, but he can whine about things like sleeping in a ditch).

Now, see I've always thought the reverse, Laying flat on the bed I sleep on my left, and my now ex slept on the right. Now, divorced, at times going to Disney and to ensure we have enough beds for all of the kids, my best friend of 22 yrs and I will often share the king. Problem, she sleeps on the left as well! Rule is, my DVC, I get the left, if and when you buy into DVC, using your points, I'll sleep on the right. And, we've talked about this too, all of the women I know, sleep on the left.

Many complain about OKW beds, but I've always found the king to be very comfortable. So happy, gone are the days of the heavy bedspread!

We had a somewhat uncomfortable one at BCV a few trips ago. Every time I lay down it made the loudest creak I'd ever heard. Clearly the springs had seen better days. When we were heading to the pool the last full day, 2 guys showed up with a brand new mattress just for a routine scheduled replacement. Just my luck! I guess 1 out of 7 on a good mattress is better than none. :thumbsup2:rotfl:

I remember having a creak sound from the metal bed support once at BLT. I kept meaning to call them to replace it but forgot to until the day we left. If I had only done it after the first night, what was I thinking?

Lol, I sleep on whichever side is not too close to the wall, or if the bed has enough space on both sides then the side nearest the bathroom.

I have had luck with the BLT beds also. I slept so well a couple of months ago. First time I ever slept till 9am.

The only problem I had with a regular bed was at Poly, when the resort was relatively new. The mattress was very soft and seemed to have a deep depression in the middle.

I think sofa beds are uncomfortable where ever you go, that isn't restricted to DVC. My son, however, thinks they are fine. I guess you can sleep on anything in your 20's.
