So one of the things I like to do is cook and eat. We haven't talked about food in a while so let's do that (while I snack on maple fudge from Canada).

I can start booking ADRs for Marathon Weekend on Friday 7/13. I'm still working on my plans, but here's what I have so far:

Wednesday 1/9/18: Expo day & Epcot
  • Dinner: Tangierine Cafe
Thursday 1/10/18: 5K & Magic Kingdom
  • Breakfast: eat in my room
  • Lunch: Be Our Guest
  • Dinner: ???
Friday 1/11/18: 10K & Hollywood Studios
  • Breakfast: eat in my room
  • Lunch: Dine w/ an Imagineer at Hollywood Brown Derby. It starts at 12pm and should be over in plenty of time to make the DIS meet-up at 3pm Hurricane Hannah's @ Beach Club.
  • Dinner: ???
Saturday 1/12/18: Half Marathon & Resort Day
  • Breakfast: eat in my room
  • Lunch: ???
  • Dinner: Ale & Compass
Sunday 1/13/18: Marathon & Magic Kingdom
  • Breakfast: eat in my room
  • Lunch: ???
  • Dinner: Artist Point was the plan, but booking California Grill as a backup
Monday 1/14/18: DATW meet-up at 11am. Group lunch at Via Napoli.

 Dine w/ an Imagineer was already booked up.

I might book the Caring for Giants tour at AK.

Soooo...racing update. I think I may have found a race to substitute for the Smoky Mountains Half. It's the Craft Classic in Atlanta the same weekend. I can get a roundtrip plane ticket for $150 and book a hotel with points. I don't want to experience TN without Rob!

07/09/17 - 07/15/17

Back to FL summer weather this week. I spent a lot of time on the treadmill at the gym!!!

Monday - Off

Tuesday - Today was my first day back running in the heat and humidity. I decided before I started my run to walk during my rest intervals. My body just wasn't used to the weather and I didn't want to die of heat stroke.
  • Plan: 2 mi WU + (8 x 2 min @ 8:58 w/ 2 min RI) + 1 mi @ CD
  • 12:42, 12:41 + (9:10, 9:03, 8:56, 8:51, 8:40, 8:53, 8:40, 8:35) + 11:53
Wednesday - Woke up late and had plans to go to Toy Story Land. I was able to get Slinky Dog fastpasses for 4pm. Such a great coaster and we really liked TSL. We ate at Hollywood Brown Derby.
  • Plan: 4.5mi @ 12:36
  • 12:18, 12:15, 11:56, 12:01, 12:05
Thursday - I woke up and checked the weather. T+D was already in the high 160's so I decided to go to the gym instead. So since it was the treadmill I don't have individual paces for all my miles since my watch doesn't line up with the distance on the machine. I mostly just use the watch to time my run and get the data into garmin connect.
  • Plan: 2mi WU + (3 x 1mi @ 9:46 w/ 2min RI) + 1mi CD
  • 6.35mi @ 10:46
Friday - I had a plumber here all morning then had an appointment in the afternoon. I was worried about rain after dinner so off to the gym I went. A thunderstorm moved in while we were there. A power surge went through the gym and my treadmill died. Thankfully the one next to me still had power so I finished my run on that one.
  • Plan: 4.5mi @ 12:36
  • Actual: 4.5mi @ 11:59
Saturday - It was hot. It was humid. Went to the gym.
  • Plan: 7.5mi @ 11:47 + strides
  • Actual: 7.51mi @ 11:38
Sunday - Can't say I was actually looking forward to running this many miles on a treadmill, but it was not bad at all. I watched Big Brother and Criminal Minds to pass the time. I was the only person at the gym. It is kind of creepy being the only one there. It's a small 24 hour gym and the staff is only there during certain hours. Usually there are some other people working out, but not today. It was just so weird and watching Criminal Minds didn't help.
  • Plan: 10mi @ 11:24
  • Actual: 10.04mi @ 11:17
Books Read: 3

Oh my gosh, I cannot image watching Criminal Minds while alone in the gym. I'd probably stop about 5 minutes into the episode, scream for a few minutes, and then hide in a corner. That's really creepy.

Also ... I'm really glad you guys liked Toy Story Land! We thought it was so well done and Slinky Dog Dash is awesome!

:mad::headache::scared::furious::worried:>:(:confused::scared1::eek:

I completely forgot to put this in my update.

So I had booked the Swan via Hotwire a few months ago. I called the Swan last Tuesday to get their confirmation number so I can get it linked in MDE so I can make my dining reservations on Friday. The Swan can’t find my reservation and tell me to call Hotwire. Hotwire can’t find my reservation. Um.....I have an email and it’s in my Hotwire account. I log into Hotwire and my reservation is no longer there. The customer service rep forwards me to a supervisor and he tells me they will have to research and call me back. I get a call back a few hours later and they said I called to cancel my reservation??? I certainly did not as it was a non-refundable booking. So after going round and round with them they cannot rebook for me at the same rate and they finally agreed to give me my money back. I got my refund today.

So for now I’m booked at Yacht Club. I have not stayed here before, but was at Beach Club for Princess Weekend. I loved walking to Epcot and being on Crescent Lake.

Um, that's ridiculous. Why would you call to cancel a non-refundable reservation? Ugh. Sorry this happened to you.

Good news is ... now that you're at Yacht Club, it'll be easier for you to join in the Beach Club fun, since you'll be right next door!

Wow! How frustrating! Yacht club sounds fun though!!

I just hope a get a decent Passholder rate to bring the cost down!

Good grief! Sounds like a hot mess express at that hotel and Hotwire. LOL. We've been able to update our reservations with the discounted AP rates about 2-3 months before our recent trip. We saved over $200 on our June reservation and just saved $175 on our October one! Fingers crossed you'll have the same happen, that's almost registration cost!

I think I’m just going to throw running a September half out the window. Nothing is working out.

Sights are set on an October 6th race. It’s 3 hour drive after school to Georgia and will be combined into a beach getaway. I really like the course and temps will be a smidge cooler. But it’s one month before Wine & Dine. Paging coach @DopeyBadger! If I run this one for time will I be recovered enough to use W&D as a training run?

You should be good to go.

I can't believe we are in the last part of July already. Summer has gone by in a flash! Things have been a little crazy. Rob decided to leave his current employer. It's been a long time coming. His last day is Tuesday then he starts next week on Monday. He will still be working from home so the commute from the kitchen to his office will still be a breeze. I'm thankful that the HQ for this new company is in New York. No more working on California time. We will probably head to the beach at least once and do a few other things with the kids while he has some time off between jobs.

So due to the new job and money tied up in current household projects a September race just wasn't going to happen. Rob really couldn't take time off and I didn't want to go by myself. I really wanted to experience a non-Disney half marathon so I found something that was within driving distance that would make a good family getaway too. Under the Oaks Half Marathon takes place on Jekyll Island in Georgia. The course is so pretty and FLAT!!! It's about three hours from here and the Westin (right on the beach!) was offering an awesome rate for race participants.

So I've been reading about Disney After Hours at MK on the boards. I decided to splurge and got tickets for Eliana and me. We are going August 4th. The park closes to day guests at 10pm then from 10pm to 1am it's open to just DAH ticket holders. There are free drinks, ice cream & popcorn too, but I'm all about the rides with no lines.

Monday - Off

Tuesday - I Pace Run - I can't remember why I had to wait until the evening to run. I really need to start keeping track on a daily basis in Word or something. All I know was that I was so happy to be OUTSIDE running.
  • Plan: 2 mi WU + (4 min @ 8:58 w/ 3 min RI) + 4x(3 min @ 8:58 w/ 2 min RI) + 1 mi CD
  • 12:22, 12:41 + (9:14) + (8:49, 8:51, 8:46, 8:51) + 12:08
Wednesday - We are coming up on one year of being in our new construction home so we had a home inspection done just to make sure everything was okay. Nothing but cosmetic issues :thumbsup2 Used the gym treadmill.
  • Plan: 4.5mi @ 12:36
  • Actual: 4.51 @ 12:16
Thursday - T Pace Run - Not sure what happened. Estimated miles for this run was supposed to be around 7.5 miles. I ended up with 8.25!!! I felt great though. Again....OUTSIDE!!!! Uh....looking back at my garmin data I was a bit fast. 150m repeats are listed by seconds and not pace.
  • Plan: 2 mi WU + (2 mi @ 9:46 w/ 3 min RI) + 4x(150 @ 8:36 w/ 150 RI) + (2 mi @ 9:46) + 1 mi @ CD
  • Actual: (12:10, 11:58) + (9:46, 9:39) + :-)40, :44, :42, :42) + (9:36, 9:13) + (11:15, 9:59 for .31 miles back home)
Friday - Yard work. We removed some of the ugly & boring plants that the builder put in and put in some stuff we liked. We also planted a cherry tree to replace the magnolia we lost during the hurricane last year. The weather is so bad that your clothes get wet sitting in the shade sipping sweet tea. I think I took 42 showers this day.
  • Plan: 4.5mi @ 12:36
  • Actual: 4.5mi @ 12:01
Saturday - It was hot. It was humid. More yard work. Went to the gym. Getting pretty good at strides on a treadmill. Lots of showers and pool time.
  • Plan: 7.5mi @ 11:47 + strides
  • Actual: 7.51mi @ 11:15
Sunday - Gym was not creepy empty today. It was another icky weather day with humidity and lots of rain. I ended up with extra mileage because I wanted to watch the rest of Amazing Race.
  • Plan: 7.5mi @ 11:24
  • Actual: 8.07mi @ 11:09
Books Read: 2

I'm excited to hear about your DAH experience - it sounds like a great event (almost empty park!!!)

So early registration for Princess weekend is August 2nd. I really need to come to a decision if I want to run. The past two years I’ve run the 5K, 10K and half. I’m never running a Princess 5K again. Ever. If I run I’m leaning towards just the half, but if i run the challenge I’ll get THREE medals. Princess tends brings lots of women for the races. Lots of women leads to lots of drama. Nuff said.
