Has anyone ever gotten the front row of a rollercoaster from the single rider line, by asking a CM? I’ll usually ask for the front row from the regular line, but I never asked from the single rider. Just curious.

It really depends on the busyness of the ride, the CM, and how willing you are to wait longer. The last time we went on an adults only trip, we opted for single rider line a few times on Everest and my husband asked for a front seat - the ride had a very low wait so the CM was able and willing to accommodate. If it's a long wait at a ride I woudn't make too many requests, but if it's a short wait there's no harm in asking!

My personal expectation during a single rider line is that, because I’m grateful to skip the long wait, I’ll make it easy on the loading CM and go wherever they need me.

That doesn’t mean you’re discourteous by asking for a preference, but my own views of courtesy would not do so.

I don't remember having ever gotten into the front by doing single-riders but I don't think I've ever asked. I kinda always just went where they put me

By riding single rider you are agreeing to fill in the first empty seat that comes up - so I would say no.

The odds of an odd number family in the sb/fp line passing up the 2nd seat in the first row are slim to none! I know we are a party of 3 and I always sit behind my 2 dd's.

If you want the front I would suggest you ride standby or use FP+

I've gotten the front row as a single rider by luck.
I can't imagine asking for the front row as a single rider. and if you did, I doubt it would be granted. There are too many people that have waited in teh standby line that want the front and back rows.
The idea of the single rider line is to fill in where there are empty seats..

There are usually 3 of us that go. My son used to not like sitting in the front, but the second row in the front car was good. So I would have a single rider up with me in the front, my wife and son just behind. Actually had one girl ask if I would switch so she could ride with her friend who was also in the single rider line and got in the same train. I laughed and said I waiting for the front, I am not moving. She didn't complain so I guess no harm in asking.

By luck yes but as one who uses Single Rider you agree to take whatever seat comes up when it's your turn. If you want a specific seat you must wait in the stand by line. Single riders do not get to disrupt the rest of the guests by making requests. It's the way Single Rider works.

Even single rider We always ask for front row or last. However. You usually get what you get. Especially at DL. Where there is more single rider lines. Alot of time’s you don’t even get split up. Sometimes you do. But it beats a long wait if no fast pass. Coasters we like last row Other stuff like splash/space. We like front row. Always ask...worst you can get is a no. If it’s just me. I don’t care where I sit. The kids obviously like front row. If we don’t have a FP single rider like is way to go for sure.
I will say..test track. We have never been split up. Single rider is a great option if no FP.

Sure, it’s easy to say the worst they can say is no, but in my mind that’s still putting the CM in position to either potentially upset the guest or have to do another calculation to figure out how to configure the vehicle. These people don’t make enough money as is, let alone having to deal with an additional request from me because I want to A) skip a long line AND B) sit in a special seat.

I also got front row once just by chance as a single rider. It was a similar situation to above with a family of 3 who preferred not to be in the front of the car. I loved it! I would not request it, though, unless there really was hardly any wait. They want to get more people on the ride quickly by using the single riders to fill those empty spaces. Great ride from any seat!

To me, I equate asking for a specific seat the same as asking for all my party to ride together.
It is NOT done when you select to go with Single Rider. Even IF a CM says yes, it's wrong/poor/rude (whathaveyou) guest behavior to put them on the spot to ask such a thing. Why be that guest? Why take advantage of the situation. Think how you'd feel if you were in Stand By or FP and saw a single rider guest ask for and get special treatment that caused you to wait longer to ride. I can't imagine that would make you happy, would it? Not when you are playing by the rules and others aren't.
Accept what Single Rider is and if you don't like it, ride another way. Single Rider is not the only option to ride. It's shorter due to operation parameters you accept as a guest who uses it.
Besides all that, you are talking about all of 3 rides, one of which will likely be a longer line than standby as it is. So best not even doing SR there. And one, due to seating configuration, is very easy to get on and makes no difference what row you are in. So in the end, we are only talking about 1 ride. Just wait if you want first/last row.

It's actually not nearly that complicated. Single riders fill in empty seats for odd-numbered parties in the standby/FP line. The CM just advises the single rider that they will need to wait until a front seat comes available (which could be a while), and fills in any empty singles with all the other guests waiting in the single rider line. The one who requests a particular car doesn't hold up anyone else, the single rider line keeps moving along. As long as the single rider who prefers a particular car is OK waiting, everybody wins. If that person decides it's not worth waiting for a car, they ride when it's their turn the first time. Either way, there are no calculations being made to configure a vehicle, other than alerting the CM in the regular line that they have a single who may want first car. The CM managing that line will generally ask if there are any parties of 3 close to the front and direct them into the first car waiting. It's a bigger imposition on the single rider with the request than anybody else.

Is there a perception that single rider shouldn't make requests? sure, and I can understand why some might feel that way. But there's no policy against it and it doesn't impose a huge inconvenience on the CMs running the line. Out of courtesy I wouldnt make a seat request even in the standby/FP line if it were a long wait, but if it's a short wait it's generally not a big deal no matter what line you stand in.

The CM just wants to load the vehicles as fast as possible. Not need to keep in their mind that single rider A wants to wait for row X and is standing off to the side waiting for an odd number group.

TLDR: I think it’s annoying and I don’t make CMs do it. Others have a different tolerance.

It’s not that simple
Then this cm had to remember this guest is waiting
Had to have a place to put said guest. Not always possible.
Then you’ve got a very short turn around for cm shifts. I think they are in each position for 15 min or so

there is a line for those who want the front and last car that waited in the standby line. where do you put the single rider that wants to be in the front car and needs to wait? In the main line for the front, so they jumped ahead of everyone waiting in the standby? Doesn't seem fair to the standby line. Most rides don't ahve room for more lines.
