Working remote during day, Disney parks at night worth it?

I think your plan is fine. If it was just a couple days, I might question whether the cost was worth it based on the number of hours you'd have in the parks vs. what you'd have to pay. But, you're there long enough that the average $/day won't be nearly as bad and I don't think it would be a...

**SOLO Central - WDW & DCL**

Solo trip coming up...will be there on and off November 12-21. Good to get away from the cold up north.

    Aulani or No (pre-cruise stay)

Totally do it!! We stayed at Aulani for four nights prior to our NCL Pride of America cruise and loved it! We also rented a car and did a day at Pearl Harbor and drove around the island some. We rented points from David's Vacation Rentals, which lowered our Aulani costs and gave us free parking...

How to get the best price on a rental

Lots of good advice above. Yes, $2k for two weeks does sound high. I know some airport locations out west tend to be even more expensive than in the east. Last time I went out there (almost 10 years ago) Phoenix seemed to be very expensive and Las Vegas was quite inexpensive. The main thing to...

    TSA Orlando

I've flown out of MCO a few times in the past 6 months or so. We signed up for TSA PreCheck early this year and I'd say if you normally fly at least once a year, maybe twice, its well worth the $85 ($17/year). While the times I've been at MCO the regular line has been posted anywhere from 20-50...

Actual Car Rental Experiences at MCO

We've rented twice with Alamo at MCO recently. First was April 9-13, from midsize aisle late morning got a Nissan Rogue Sport from plenty to choose from. Second was May 4-5, Camry from standard aisle. Only about 4 cars to choose from that time, mid-morning. Made the mistake of not checking in...

    April 2021 Car Rental Thread

Yeah, this is bad. I booked Alamo back in late February for April 9-13 at $286 for an intermediate via Costco thinking rates would come down. I guess because of the combination of spring break season, demand picking up because of pandemic restrictions loosening a bit and the temporary closure of...

    September 2020 car rental watch

Jumping in on this. This was supposed to be a May trip, but that didn't happen. Got crazy $45 each way fares on Southwest from PHL for September 29 thru October 6, so now its time to start looking for a car. Rates look bad now, but I'm sure they'll get better...

Where in the parks is the WiFi the worst?

I've often found that attempting to get any kind of data coverage inside the parks is just devastating to battery life. I can see why they sell/rent those fuel rods there. I've found it best sometimes to just go into airplane mode and only try to seek data when I need it.

Where in the parks is the WiFi the worst?

Agree that inside Soarin' queue is about the worst, especially past the checkpoint where they send you out to the various concourses. In general, I think WiFi is at its poorest inside attractions and better outside, which is the opposite of what you'd expect most places.

Should I keep my reservation for June?

I'm pretty much in the mindset of not cancelling until necessary. I've got a trip scheduled in mid May; my thinking is that there's a very high likelihood that I'll cancel it, but I haven't pulled the plug yet. I haven't bought tickets yet, although my FP+ window opens in a couple weeks, hotel...

    May 2020 Car Rental Watch

Always good to check Hertz with AAA discounts. My last two (or 3) MCO rentals have been with Hertz. Check often the last 3 weeks with them as I've seen their prices drop a lot, more so than the other agencies even. Also...be sure to sign up for their #1 Club (free). The pickup experience is very...

No rides and just walk around the parks?

Sure...and I agree that Animal Kingdom and especially Epcot World Showcase are best for that.

I've been doing that too. Not encouraging. But...at least most of May is between the spring break and summer crowds, so maybe the demand won't be as high...we'll see...

    May 2020 Car Rental Watch

It varies and every year seems to have different behavior. If I had to generalize, I'd say that the rate drops usually happen in the last 3 weeks prior to the rental date and go right up to the day of. One time DW went to FLL and I changed her reservation while she was inflight as it went...

How early is too early getting to WDW?

I've/we've often taken the earliest flights, especially on trips of limited time. Last time we had a 5 AM flight out of PHL and we're close to an hour away from the airport, so we left home about 2 AM. Landed at MCO around 7;15 (it was a little early). As I recall, we grabbed the rental car...

No, that's if you use the Costco discount code on the Alamo site. If you book it thru Costco, you just use your costcotravel credentials, which is linked to your membership number. The Costco site builds in the discount code, which is the same one that you use if using the Alamo site.

    Avis vs Alamo

When your trip gets close, also check the Hertz rates. The last two times I've gone, their rates are sky high early, but drop dramatically the last 3 weeks or so prior to the trip. By the time I've gone, they've had good rates, beating all the major in-terminal agencies, using a AAA rate and...

Thrifty Couples Adventure of the Seas 2/1 to 2/9 Trip Report

Enjoyed your trip report! It brought back some memories as we've been on Adventure OTS a couple times in the past few years and will be on her again this summer. (Starting out and finishing in Bayonne is a big plus for us) We were a little hesitant at first with RCCL after a couple wonderful...

    May 2020 Car Rental Watch

Minor change for me. Alamo 5/11-5/17, Mid SUV, Base $203.54, Total $286.15, Costco 7014627. Almost the exact same price as Budget above, but I'll take Alamo due to convenience. Cancelled the Budget reservation. As mentioned earlier, I don't really need the SUV, but the price so far is lower...
