    Price jumps for accessible rooms

You are not comparing apples and apples. Each resort has different prices. If you are flexible with your dates then try for other dates until you get the resort for 5 that is accessible for the rate you desire. Prices are different for resorts for different times of the year, too. If you...

    Storing walker somewhere in Disney?

Your own bungee cords may work to attach the walker to the scooter. Also, could you get by if someone was on each side of your mom when she would need to walk? Someone supporting her on her left and someone supporting her on the right? You could use a gait belt perhaps. To get on and...

Wheelchair pusher and then some for hire?

Is it possible to get a caregiving service for the park? Going one step further can you get someone to push a wheelchair all day through the park? Furthermore, they may have to help with eating and bathroom visits.

    Renting a PORTABLE scooter

Sorry, but I would just rent one from SeaWorld. That will be a better scooter and will last better on battery. It will be more comfortable, too especially if you are a bigger person. If something happens you can always get the scooter easily replaced at the park. Lifting the pieces of a...

Fitting a Rental Scooter into a room at AS Sports

Sorry, I forgot the table at this resort cannot be removed. Keep in mind if it's easier to get the scooter in and out of the room you can lift up the table and murphy bed as necessary. Then, you can position the scooter out of the way and bring the table and bed back down if being used.

Fitting a Rental Scooter into a room at AS Sports

Worse to worse you can have the table in the room removed for more space for the scooter.

ECV Question for Disabled Mother (Restaurants, Rides, etc.)

Frankly with 8 of you going I think the best idea is to use a wheelchair all the time and for all of you to take turns pushing her. Even if some of you separate there should be enough people to help push. You can get a portable travel wheelchair which is more light weight and is under 20...

Best value resorts for solo adult?

For safety sake solo travelers are better off where the lobby and rooms are in the same building. Unfortunately, that means the higher price resorts. If you need value get a room closest to the lobby building. For noise control, you may have to consider wearing ear plugs at times.

    Powerchair in the Rain

The poncho may be the best idea, here. Talk to the manufacturer or the place you bought it from, too. Maybe, they have suggestions.

Scooter places at Candlelight in Epcot

Keep in mind those with Candlelight dining packages have the first opportunity with scooters or wheelchairs for available spots. They have a separate line for the show.

    Wheelchair accessibility for Candlelight Processional

Even with a dining package you stand in line to get into the show. There is a handicap line. You want to be early for the show; because, there is a limited amount of available spaces for handicap. Those who can transfer from a scooter or wheelchair do so. Those in wheelchairs have spots to be...

    Motorized scooter questions…

I wheelchaired my mom on several trips. She was in her eighties, and I was in my sixties at the time. My mom was about 120 pounds. I was overweight. At home she used a walker. I managed for five days in a row pushing a wheelchair. I did not have help. We took breaks by seeing shows and...

Has anyone ever rented a lift recliner chair for their resort room? Who did you use, please?

I don't even know if this is allowed. I have someone who cannot sleep in a regular bed. They need a lift recliner to get themselves out of a chair. They have no strength to do this on their own, bad shoulder issues and other problems. On top of it they are on the heavier side; so, it's not...

Really want to avoid use of a ECV/Scooter. Anyone use ECV in one park vs other parks?

AK is the largest park at Disney World. So, that's probably the most important park to get a scooter. If you arrive when the park opens you should be okay getting a park scooter. You can be put on a waiting list if necessary. Keep in mind you don't have to use a scooter constantly. You...

Best Resort Room for Parking a Scooter

I've heard of some getting their table in the room removed; so, there is more room to park the scooter. I strongly suggest getting and bringing a door stop to hold your door while getting in and out of the room with a scooter. You have to find the sweet spot to place it strategically.

ECV use as off site guest

The shuttle service does seem to be a little better with this resort. However, when you go to shuttle schedule it states if you require Handicap Services Please call Dispatch 407-857-8557 You will need to check but I believe a scooter counts as a handicap service. So, this may be different...

ECV use as off site guest

Please keep in mind that offsite resort shuttles have very limited time schedules. If you miss your time coming or going you are stuck. Also, the offsite shuttles may not drop you off at each park. Many of them drop you off at the Epcot parking lot and then you need to use Disney...

ECV use as off site guest

I don't see why you can't have the ECV in your room; I don't see why you need to add her to your resort ressie. Park scooters are easier to rent if you get there early like park opening.

First time using an ECV & terrified

Here are a few more hints to help you. Get some practice in by using store scooters. This will get you use to people being around you. Practice making turns going around the aisles, too. If you have a zoo nearby you can usually rent a scooter and you can practice for a whole day using a...
