    organizing and storing important documents

How does everyone organize and store important documents like passports, birth/marriage certificates, etc? Basically, anything you want to be able to grab quickly if you need to leave in an emergency. I have a great filing system for regular stuff but the way I store that stuff isn't working...

Gift ideas for 70 year old

A friend of mine’s father loves to read but he has trouble reading small print now. Her dad was dubious when she got him a Kindle but he now loves it because he can increase the font size and change the font to one that’s easier to read. My husband got me a digital frame from Aura and I love it...

    8 Facts about Christmas

When I was growing up my dad would put the Christmas turkey in the oven and then we’d go to this clubhouse (never found out the group associated with it) decorated for Christmas that had had drinks and snacks set out. There were sign up sheets there for different places to volunteer at that...

What’s the most positive amazing/unexpected thing you saw/did/had happen this year?

I'd love to learn more about the camp. My high school junior is interested in exploring STEM in college and is trying to narrow down his options.

What’s the most positive amazing/unexpected thing you saw/did/had happen this year?

I’m talking you had no idea until it happened. One of my best friends and I splurged on tickets to Sarah Brightman’s Christmas concert. She was the first actress to play Christine in The Phantom of the Opera and is on the original cast recording. I played the full box cd set a lot in high...

    Day Planners

I made everyone in the family join my Google Calendar. Everyone has their own color and there’s a color for whole family events. My husband was resistant and wanted us to switch to the calendar he uses but I put my foot down and told him that we’ve been using the family Google calendar for years...

Looks Like COVID Will Mess With My Christmas

My kids and I haven’t been able to get our 4th Covid boosters yet because of illnesses , travel, etc. The last Covid shot took DS16 down for a few days. We have gotten our flu shots though because we haven’t had bad side effects with them. Guess who has the flu? Me and my sister flies in...

    Songs best appreciated under circumstances

True classics. I can’t believe I forgot the song Closing Time. Last night my husband and I went out with another couple and suddenly the lights came on because they were closing. I instinctually expect that song to go on over the loudspeakers and was surprised when it didn’t. When I was in...

    Songs best appreciated under circumstances

I’m watching Trevor Noah’s most recent comedy special and he’s talking about how much white people love Sweet Caroline. I couldn’t disagree with him because I’ve been to Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar when that song was played. All the drunk white people started swaying, raising their glasses, and...

What would you buy yourself for Christmas this year if that was the tradition?

A dog DNA test or a trip without the kids. Everyone asks us what kind of dog our younger dog is and we have no idea. We were told that he's a maltipoo by the rescue but he looks nothing like that. He has crazy old man eyebrows, a beard, and is a little long for his height.

Did your kids play football? Would you let them?

My younger son played flag football for one season but neither kid has a desire to play tackle football. They know about the concussion risks. My best friend's son had 3 concussions before he reached middle school, 2 from soccer and one from basketball. He's in high school now and has...

13 yr old boy gift suggestions

If you don't have sizes I recommend holding off on clothes and even gloves or socks because sizes can vary a lot at that age. DS12 turns 13 in February and is almost as tall as me and I'm 5'7." He wears an Adult Large. One of his best friends is a few months older than him but looks tiny next...

    Need ski clothes advice

Thanks for the advice. Even though we live nowhere near the mountains skiing is very popular where I live so there are places to go. We'll be driving from San Francisco and will only be skiing for a few days so going to Reno isn't an option.
