Who Pays? A Going Out To Dinner Question….

We would probably just grab the check and pay it for a couple reasons. One to be nice. Two to make things comfortable for my daughter. Three because in the realm of things it probably isn’t that much money. If the other family wanted to split the bill, we would be happy to do that too...

    slo’s MONDAY 4/15 poll - Oceans 🌊

I love love love the Ocean. It is vast, beautiful, magnificent, mysterious, wild, and ever changing. I love being outdoors and one of my favorite things to do in the world is to walk along a beach and stare at the ocean and just “look”. I don’t even contemplate life. I literally become...

    What Are You Thinking Morgan?

I think he has a drinking problem and just can’t seem to get help for it. Sad because he has had so much success but doesn’t seem to be able to conduct his personal life very successfully.

    Mid Manhattan hotel recommendations

We like the Marriott Courtyard Manhattan Mid Town East. It is about a 10 min walk to Times Square but out of all the craziness. The rooms are huge for NYC and it also has a subway stop right near it if you plan to use that to get around the city. Hope this helps!

    Car buying?

So we are needing to get not one, but two new cars. One car the engine seized and is completely shot. The other is a 2011 which needs an additional 2-3000 in repairs after just put in $1000. So not fun. My question is how do you guys buy cars? Do you negotiate in person or online? After...

Talk me out of filling in my inground pool

Would it cost a lot to convert to salt water? Reason I am asking is we also live in MA but have an above ground salt water. It is very easy to take care of. When we open it, we vacuum it out, start the filter and dump in about 7-8 bags of pool salt. That makes the chlorine and keeps it going...

slo’s TUESDAY 4/9 poll - Frozen vs Fresh vs Canned Vegetables

We eat a ton of vegetables and mostly prefer fresh, but I do keep some frozen ones like green beans, spinach and broccoli on hand. My favorite way to cook frozen ones is to roast them at a high heat with garlic and onion powder and some salt and pepper. I don’t particularly like steamed...

Early fall road trip. Where to?

New England…truly spectacular in the fall. I would fly into Boston and spend a day or two there. I would then suggest visiting Newport, RI for an overnight. (About an hour and an half drive). After that I would drive to Portsmouth, NH and spend a day there. Then I would drive up the...

    Shingles Vaccine (Shingrix)

OP here. It has been 8 hours since I got my first dose and all is well! I have been drinking a ton of water like they suggested . Thinking I should be feeling ok tomorrow too. As far as whether or not Shingles is fatal, all I know is that it can be extremely painful….we are talking...

    Gender Reveal parties

I think they are ridiculous personally. However, life is hard enough and with all the bad crap going on out there, I do enjoy celebrating the good times and these are usually pretty low key. What I don’t really care for is a baby shower for every single kid you have! My niece has had 4 kids...

my unpopular opinion: the iPhone is overrated

Apple product lover here! We used to have Samsungs many years ago, but once we switched we will never go back. I love how my watch, phone and IPad are all integrated and how intuitive they all are.

    Shingles Vaccine (Shingrix)

Thanks everyone! Heading to get it this this morning in my non dominant arm just in case. Hoping it won’t be too bad and know either way it will be much better than actually getting Shingles. Now I have to convince dh to just go get his. He just forgets about it but I think I am going to...

    Shingles Vaccine (Shingrix)

Have you gotten the Shingles vaccine? I finally scheduled myself for one tomorrow and while I am not looking forward to it, I think it is better than getting Shingles. I just had a friend diagnosed with it week. My younger brother also had it several years ago and it was excruciating for him...

How many years do you get out of a mattress?

This is a very timely post because we have been talking about replacing ours. We were away for over three weeks and slept on several different beds. When we came home, I started to notice that my hips and back hurt when I get up in the mornings. Before our trip, I associated it with just...

    slo’s WEDNESDAY 3/6 poll - Phone Tracking 📲

It’s funny because in reading all the comments, we are all using the term “tracking”. Yes that is what it essentially is, but I think for those of us who do share our location it truly is more just “sharing location” and not stalking each other. I don’t like the thought of that either. I know...

    slo’s WEDNESDAY 3/6 poll - Phone Tracking 📲

I like it the same as SLO. We are a family of five with all my kids in their early to mid 20’s and follow each other. I also follow my elderly Dad who is 84 and lives alone. We really only use it to see where someone is if we are going to meet up or call or FaceTime. In today’s crazy...
