Welcome home neighbor! You held out longer than I did - I was planning to get some resale RIV "just for Riviera" and ended up buying direct months before the resort even opened... We paid more than you can get for resale Riviera, but we have had several stays since December 2019.

I don't even know if this applied to DVC or it was just a special, but there was one year where it was essentially a BOGO (free) on Platinum passes. Come to think of it, that was what led us into this spiral of APs + DVC ...

My first ride we'd come off an early AM flight and I was hot, tired and probably dehydrated. I didn't throw up or anything, but I didn't feel quite right after getting off, either. The next several times, as long as I wasn't dehydrated or tired, it was tremendous fun. I get carsick very easily...

I'm one here. We did it once for April break last year - booked a "backup" WDW vacation and then looked at whether we could actually go to DL or Hawaii - we went to Aulani + other Hawaii. But back then we had enough unbooked points that I could make a reservation before canceling the WDW one...

Yes, we did that when we bought our first 2 RIV contracts. On a $ per points per year basis RIV was actually a little less than VGF during the fire sale last summer, and we ended up picking more VGF (already owned at both) because we wanted 2br or even GV at VGF because VGF slightly edged out...
